IInteresting records of Macrolepidoptera in Sweden during 1991.] Ent. Tidskr. 113 (4):37-a5. Upp- sala. Sweden 1992. ISSN 0013-886x. - A list is presented of rare or otherwise interesting Macrolepidoptera found in Sweden in 1991. What has previously been known under the name of Noctua janthina (D & S, 1775) has in northern Europe shown to be a complex of two species; N. janthina (D & S, 1775) and N. janthe (Borkhausen, 1792). Both species belong to the Swedish fauna. At present 1057 species are known from Sweden. A very obvious long-range migration of Pelosia muscerda (Hufnagel, 1766), Eilema griseola (Htibner, 1803), Autographa mandarina (Frey- er, 1846) and probably Hydraecia ultima Holst,1965 related to eastern air-currents, in the end of July and in the beginning of August, is described. Other interesting migrant species recorded are Orthonama obstipata (F, 1794), Agrius convolvuli (L, 1758), Acherontia atro- pos (L, 1758), Macroglossum stellatarum (L, 1758), Nycteola asiorica (Krulikowsky, 1904), Hoplodrina ambigua (D & S, 1775) and Mythimna 1- album (L, 1767). Notes on the species listed above and several others are presented. The classification follows Catalogus Lepidop- terorum Sueciae (1987). New provincial records are listed separately. G. Sv ir id o v received 24.II.2000 Summary: 630 species of the Noctuidae are listed for the modern Volgo-Ural fauna. 2 species [Mesapamea hedeni Graeser and Amphidrina amurensis Staudinger ) are noted from Europe for the first time and one more— Nycteola siculana Fuchs —from Russia. 3 species ( Catocala optata Godart , Helicoverpa obsoleta Fabricius , Pseudohadena minuta Pungeler ) are deleted from the list. Supposedly they were either erroneously determinated or incorrect noted from the region under consideration since Eversmann 's work. 289 species are recorded from the re gion in addition to Eversmann 's list. This paper is the fifth in a series of publications1 dealing with the composition of the pres ent-day fauna of noctuid-moths in the Middle Volga and the south-western Cisurals. This re gion comprises the administrative divisions of the Astrakhan, Volgograd, Saratov, Samara, Uljanovsk, Orenburg, Uralsk and Atyraus (= Gurjev) Districts, together with Tataria and Bash kiria. As was accepted in the first part of this series, only material reliably labelled, and cover ing the last 20 years was used for this study. The main collections are those of the authors: V. The list comprises 116 species of Noctuidae (26.4% of the Polish fauna), 116 species of Geometridae (28.4% of the Polish fauna) and 63 species of other Macrolepidoptera representatives (27.9% of the Polish fauna). The remaining 123 species were represented by Microlepidoptera. Nearly 10% of the species were associated with wetland habitats, what constitutes a surprisingly large proportion in such an urbanised area. Comparing the obtained data with previous studies concerning Polish urban fauna of Lepidoptera, the moths assemblages in the Botanical Garden were the most similar to the one from the Natolin Forest Reserve which protects the legacy of Mazovian forests. Several recorded moths appertain to locally and rarely encountered species, as Stegania cararia, Melanthia procellata, Pasiphila chloerata, Eupithecia haworthiata, Horisme corticata, Xylomoia graminea, Polychrysia moneta. In the light of the conducted studies, the Botanical Garden in Lublin stands out as quite high biodiversity and can be regarded as a refuge for moths within the urban limits of Lublin.

Tidskr. 108: 130-134. Umei, Sweden 1987. ISSN 0013- tt86x. On the night of August 20-21 1985 a mass migrati<tl of Aungrapha mandarina (Frcver 1846) was observed along the coast-line of Uppland in central Sweden. Autographa mandarina has made a strong expansion in NW Europe during the last 15 years, and the species seems to con- tinue its effort in this direction, On this occasion it was possible to trace the flight path aEd the possible origin of thc invading moths. According to the trajectories and local information, we assume that thcv came from the Vitebsk area in Western USSR and made their 750 km journev in approximately .18 hours, flying non-stop. The distribution of finds of,4 urograp ha mandarino in central Sweden may almost fully bc explained by the occasional weather conditions. N. The check list includes 216 species. The map of collecting localities is presented. Key words: Lepidoptera, Noctuidae, Erebidae, Asia, Kazakhstan, Saur, fauna. INTRODUCTION The fauna of noctuoid moths (the families Erebidae and Noctuidae) of Kazakhstan is still poorly studied. Only the fauna of West Kazakhstan has been studied satisfactorily (Gorbunov 2011). On the faunas of other parts of the country, only fragmentary data are published (Lederer, 1853; 1855; Aibasov & Zhdanko 1982; Hacker & Peks 1990; Lehmann et al. 1998; Benedek & Bálint 2009; 2013; Korb 2013). In contrast to the West Kazakhstan, the fauna of noctuid moths of East Kazakhstan was studied inadequately.

NAUJOS IR RETOS LIETUVOS VABZDŽI Ų R ŪŠYS. 22 tomas 91 CHECK-LIST OF BUTTERFLIES AND MOTHS OF THE NOTIGAL Ė BOG (NORTHERN LITHUANIA) DALIUS DAPKUS Department of Zoology, Vilnius Pedagogical University, Student ų 39, LT-08106 Vilnius, Lithuania. E-mail: [email protected] Introduction The Notigal ė telmological preserve (1391 ha) is located in Kupiškis administrative district (Northern Lithuania). It is protected since 1974 (State Service for Protected Areas…, 2008). The raised bog occupies approximately 552 ha of the whole territory. The efforts to study the entomofauna of the preserve were rather sporadic. The first faunistic data on Lepidoptera occurring in the Notigal ė bog were published by A. Palionis (1932). He recorded 14 species of butterflies and moths ( Papilio machaon, Plebeius argus , Thalera fimbrialis, Eulithis testata, E. populata, Macrothylacia rubi, Euthrix potatoria, Saturnia pavonia, Orgyia recens, O. antiqua, O. antiquoides, Diacrisia sannio, Amphipoea lucens, and Coenophila subrosea ). Later, some additional studies were carried out by A. Manikas (Kazlauskas, 1984, 2008; Ivinskis et al., 1990), and G. Švitra (unpublished data). More detailed studies on the composition of nocturnal moths occurring in the Notigal ė bog were carried out in 2000. The newly retrieved faunistic data were analysed and compared with the data obtained from the other bogs of Lithuania, showing some environmental similarities (Dapkus, 2003, 2004a, 2004b, 2004c), but the entire list of species is not yet published. The aim of this paper is to provide supplementary data on the species composition of nocturnal and day-active Lepidoptera recorded in the Notigal ė raised bog. Material and Methods The study on the butterflies and moths of the Notigal ė raised bog was carried out mainly in 2000.

[Re- markable records of Macrolepidoptera in Sweden 2005.] – Entomologisk Tidskrift 127 (1-2): 61-71. Uppsala, Sweden 2006. ISSN 0013-886x. This is the 33rd annual report on interesting finds and provincial records of Macrolepidop- tera in Sweden. The season was considered to be less good compared to previous years due to the weather conditions. Nevertheless three species were new to Sweden: Hippo- tion celerio, Hypena obesalis and Mythimna languida and furthermore 42 new provincial records were reported and three were deleted. The migrating species occurred generally in fairly low numbers of individuals. Among the more frequent migrating species were Agrius convolvuli, Macroglossa stellatarum, Vanessa atalanta, Cynthia cardui, Autograp- ha gamma, Autographa mandarina and Hydraecia ultima. More rare or occasional were Acheronta atropos, Colias hyale, Argynnis laodice, Orthonama obstipata, Heliothis armig- era, Mythimna vitellina, Agrotis crassa, Noctua interposita, Spaelotis suecica, Euproctis chryssorhoea and Nycteola asiatica. The species Cryphia algae and Trichoplusia ni were both found for the second time in Sweden. Other interesting records were Eulithis pyropa- ta, Herminia tarsicrinalis, Catocala fulminea, Colobochyla salicalis, Cucullia scrophular- iae, Agrochola lychnidis, Litophane semibrunnea, Mythimna l-album and Eilema griseola because our knowledge about some of those being migrants or resident are uncertain. At present at least Minucia lunaris and Nymphalis xanthomelas are considered as resident. Some species seems to be expanding in the country. These are Araschnia levana, Apatura iris, Antonechloris smaragdaria, Chloroclystis v-ata, Hoplodrina ambigua, Eucarta virgo, Orthosia munda, Mythimna albipuncta and Noctua interjecta.

DIVERZITA MOTÝL Ů ALPÍNSKÝCH BEZLESÍ VYSOKÝCH SUDET: VLIV PLOCHY A MÍRY IZOLOVANOSTI Karolína Černá Doktorská diserta ční práce Katedra ekologie a životního prost ředí Přírodov ědecká fakulta Univerzity Palackého v Olomouci Olomouc 2011 © Karolína Černá, 2011 Černá K. (2011) Diverzita motýl ů alpínských bezlesí Vysokých Sudet: vliv plochy a míry izolovanosti. Doktorská diserta ční práce, Katedra ekologie a životního prost ředí P řF UP, Univerzita Palackého, Olomouc, 24 s., P říloha 1–3. Abstrakt Horský masiv Vysokých Sudet je tvo řen poho řími Krkonoš, Králického Sn ěžníku a Hrubého Jeseníku. Fauna bezobratlých alpínských a subalpínských spole čenstev Vysokých Sudet je v evropském m ěř ítku jedine čná. Mísí se zde druhy z dalekého severu (prvky boreální) s druhy původem z horských oblastí Alp a Karpat. Navíc se zde setkáváme s glaciálními relikty, z nichž některé reprezentují druhy endemické. Z řeteln ě odlišné je pak faunistické spektrum v nejvyšším sudetském poho ří v Krkonoších. Unikátní druhová kompozice je v rámci jednotlivých sudetských poho ří dána nejen charakteristickou geografickou polohu, geomorfologií a horninovým složením jednotlivých poho ří, nasnad ě je také vliv borovice kle če ( Pinus mugo ) v období postglaciálního formování fauny alpínských bezlesí Vysokých Sudet. Podobnost druhového spektra motýl ů uvedených alpínských bezlesí byla v prvním kroku identifikována metodami shlukových analýz. Dále jsem použila model SAR (= Species- Area Relationship) testující závislost po čtu druh ů ( S) na velikosti plochy ( A), IFM (=Incidence Function Model) specifikující míru izolovanosti jednotlivých ploch a GLM (=General Linear Model) testující významnost vybraných faktor ů prost ředí, tj. plochy alpínského bezlesí, vzdálenosti a konektivity. Výsledky analýz poukazují na významný vliv velikosti plochy i izolovanosti na druhovou diverzitu motýl ů.

  • Entomologiske Meddelelser
Efter at have praktiseret denne nummerering i nogle år, droppedes dog betegnelsen "2.

The LepidopterologicalSocletyLepidopterological Society ofofJapan Japan 1972 utemaTYO TO GA (Trans.Lep, Soc, Jap.) Vol. 23, Ne. 1 H1 -- ultima Hydraecia HoLsT, 1965 in Japan (Lepidoptera, Noctuidae,Amphipyrinae) SHIGERO SUGL 14-12, Ornori-Kita 4, Tokyo Based on eighteen Danish and twenty-two Swedish specimens, Dr, P.L, HoLsT described a new species Hyd}'aecia ultima in 1965. Its occurence in the southern part of Finland was reported soon later by Dr. K. MIKKoLA (1968), suggesting it to be an immigrant insect from the south. Mr. CH, BouRsiN (1969) added some further habitats in Germany and in Poland. In January 1972, at a meeting of lepidopterists in Tokyo, I met a strange H),d)"aecia specimen about which Mr. Y. KoBAyAsHi asked my opinion. It is a male taken by him at Obihiro, Hokkaido, in summer of 1968, and looks just like Hyd}'aecia micacea (EspER) that is still unknown to me from our country. As he was so kind in submitting this interest specimen te rny full exarnination, the genitalia were immediately mounted and the result was surprisingly that the specimen is not micacea but agrees well with the published description and figures of H),draecia ultima HoLsT. Shortly after, upon my request, Mr. H, KoGl who is a lepidopterist long hunting in the district where ultima was secured, distinguished it with his keen eye from his collection of IIydraecia and kindly sent me a male, The genitalia examined show it again to be ultima. The speeimens now secured from Japan are: 1 6i, Obihiro, Tokachi, 42"57'N, 30, vii.
