Bob Hall's great breakfast runs, our 9 Autocrosses; more of Greg Chamber's "Artisan" wine tours, car corrals for the Wine Country Classics and Grand AM/IRL races at Infineon Raceway, our overnight tours to Eureka and Mendocino, PCA Escape #4 in Albuquerque, NM and the list goes on! Look for several "special" surprise events that are in the works as well. More details will follow in the upcoming months! Again...I want to thank the members of the Redwood Region for their participation in the events of 2007. Our members are the heart and soul of this group and we try to accommodate all of your wishes for events! If you would like to suggest a new event, please let me know! I'd like to welcome Bret Boutet as our new Membership Chairman. He spent a day with Dave and LaVonne Benson learning all the nuances of this very important job and will be a welcome addition to our Board of Directors.

Hawk Performance brake pads are the most popular pads used in the Sports Car Club of America (SSCA) paddock. For more, visit us at www.hawkperformance.com. WHAT’SW STOPPING YOU? Dear SCCA Media Partners, Welcome to what is truly a new era of the Sports Car Club of America, as the SCCA National Champi- onship Runoffs heads west for the first time in 46 years to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. This event, made possible with the help of our friends and partners at Mazda and the Sports Car Rac- ing Association of the Monterey Peninsula (SCRAMP), was met with questions at its announcement that have been answered in a big way, with more than 530 drivers on the entry list and a rejunvenaton of the west coast program all season long. While we haven’t been west of the Rockies since River- side International Raceway in 1968, it’s hard to believe it will be that long before we return again. The question on everyone’s mind, even more than usual, is who is going to win? Are there hidden gems on the west coast who may be making their first Runoffs appearance that will make a name for themselves on the national stage, or will the traditional contenders learn a new track quickly enough to hold their titles? My guess is that we’ll see some of each.

Created by Rolex in 1963, this model born for racing has established an extraordinary track record in the world of motor sport thanks to its reliability and performance. Known simply as the “Daytona”, the watch has risen to the rank of an icon as one of the best known chronographs in the world. Before lending its name to one of Rolex’s most emblematic models, the city of Daytona Beach in Florida – with its famous long, straight beach, and sand packed as hard as cement – forged its own legend as the capital of land speed records from 1903. The name Daytona also epitomizes the historic ties that bind Rolex and automobile racing, whether in endurance or speed.
