(December 2007) Windy Dees, B.A., Rollins College; M.S.E.S.S., University of Florida Chair of Advisory Committee: Dr. Gregg Bennett The purpose of this study was to determine if personality fit between NASCAR drivers and their major sponsors affects the sponsorship outcomes of consumer attitudes toward the sponsor, attitudes toward the brand, and purchase intentions during a NASCAR event. Moreover, fan identification and product involvement were examined as moderators between personality fit and the three sponsorship outcomes. A cross-sectional, non-experimental, exploratory study was conducted at a NEXTEL Cup event in April 2007, the NASCAR Samsung 500 at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Texas. Several hundred paper-and-pencil questionnaires were distributed to willing participants prior to the start of the race. A total of 385 questionnaires were distributed during the event, and 347 were completed and useable for data analysis, resulting in a 90% response rate.

BMW Corporate Communications United SportsCar Championship BMW Team RLL misses out on podium in Sebring – BMW Z4 GTLMs finish fourth and eighth. Sebring (US), 21st March 2015. Lucas Luhr (DE), John Edwards (US) and Jens Klingmann (DE) finished fourth in the GTLM class for BMW Team RLL in the 12 Hours of Sebring (US), the second round of the United SportsCar Championship (USCC). The three drivers completed a total of 329 laps with the number 24 BMW Z4 GTLM. The Corvette crew of Antonio García (ES), Jan Magnussen (DK) and Ryan Briscoe (AU) claimed GTLM victory. With temperatures of up to 33 degrees Celsius, the endurance classic at the Sebring International Raceway turned out to be a truly hot affair. For most parts of the race, the GTLM field was running closely together, delivering some gripping racing action to the American fans. Following a final full-course yellow with two hours to go, the cars on the lead lap were once again bunched up before entering the decisive phase of the race. With final stint driver Luhr at the wheel, the number 24 car crossed the line in fourth after 12 hours of racing, despite a problem with the power steering in the final stages of the race. For Dirk Werner (DE), Bill Auberlen (US) and Augusto Farfus (BR) the race didn’t go according to plan with the number 25 BMW Z4 GTLM. After five and a half hours, Werner entered the pit lane with a damaged front subframe, running in sixth at that time. The necessary repair work cost the trio more than ten laps, and they dropped to the very back of the GTLM field.

After five years of beginning its season at the Twelve Hours of Sebring, BMW Team RLL arrives ready for the 62nd annual event with something it has never had before – momentum from a prior race. The new TUDOR United SportsCar Championship that has merged the GRAND-AM and ALMS series began with the Rolex 24 At Daytona in January. BMW Team RLL finished second and fourth - the only team in the GTLM class to finish both team cars in the top-five. Now standing second in Manufacturer, Team and Driver points the team recently finished a successful two-day test at the 3.74-mile, 17-turn Sebring International Raceway with the No. 56 Z4 GTLM and drivers Andy Priaulx and Dirk Werner on February 20-21. The test was critical in order to gather data resulting from the Feb. 14 Balance of Performance adjustments that saw 15 kilograms of weight added and 10 liters of fuel removed from the Z4 for endurance classic.
