The Hebrew Ulpan at the Weizmann Institute
Sponsored by and in collaboration with The Weizmann Students’ Council, the Ulpan is a unique Hebrew school, not related to the Ministry of Education. The programs are designed for students, Post-Docs, Visiting Scientists & their family members from all over the world.
The Ulpan also accepts students from the Faculty of Agriculture of the Hebrew University in Rehovot , as well as private students where possible.
What is the Ulpan? There are 4 different levels of classes, as well as several independent study groups. All our Teachers are experienced and have been teaching in Ulpan for many years.
The annual course – 200 teaching hours (100 hours per semester, 6 hours a week), is held for eight months from November to the end of June, in parallel with the Feinberg College’s semesters in the Institute.
Kitah Aleph (beginners), Bet (mid level) and Gimel (advanced) - study regularly at the same time Mondays and Wednesdays - 18:00 to 20:30.
There are two scheduled vacations during the course - Winter – at the end of December for Christmas and the New Year holidays, and Spring – during Passover. Additional Holidays are in accordance with the Hebrew calendar.
Costs Price – 800 NIS per semester (or according to the number of months of participation at 200 NIS per month) - correct for 2015/16.
All study groups pay according to the group size and number of hours of study. The hourly rate is calculated according to the cost per group, divided equally between the participants.
The teacher adjusts the studies to the students needs and their free time for the group participants satisfaction.
Kitah Dalet (very advanced) – will open - at the request of our Ulpan graduate students.
In addition there are also reinforcement lessons, as required.

• Summer Ulpan – Takes place in the months of July, August and September – until the Jewish holidays, and is a short course of 40 - 50 hours. The number of classes and levels of study are determined according to the • students. Classes are held twice a week for two hours each time. The price is determine daccording to the number of students in the various groups (no more than 30 NI S per hour per student).
Where is the Ulpan? The Hebrew Ulpan classes are held on campus, in Wolfson Building, Room 17-18 and Seminars room at Ullman Building at the Weizmann Institute.
Private lessons are possible for anyone who is interested - including children and family members of Weizmann visiting scientists.
