ELECTION OF FOUR PERSONS TO SERVE AS MEMBERS OF THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL FOR A PERIOD EXPIRING ON 29TH FEBRUARY 2020 IN PLACE OF MR PHILIP BRAIDWOOD; MR DUDLEY BUTT; MR ALAN CROWE; AND MR ALEX DOWNIE The following proposals appeared on the Order Paper, having been made in accordance with Standing Order 8.2(2)(iii)–(iv). Mr David Anderson MHK, nominated by Mr Singer Mr Paul Beckett, nominated by Mrs Beecroft Mr Phil Braidwood, nominated by Mr Teare Mr David Cretney MHK, nominated by Mr Shimmin Mr Bill Henderson MHK, nominated by Mr Teare Mr Christopher Kinley, nominated by Mr Gawne Mr Anderson was proposed by Mr Singer and seconded by Mr Crookall. Mr Beckett was proposed by Mrs Beecroft and seconded by Mr Thomas. Mr Braidwood was proposed by Mr Teare and seconded by Mr Watterson. Mr Cretney was proposed by Mr Shimmin and seconded by Mr Ronan. Mr Henderson was proposed by Mr Teare and seconded by Mr Houghton. Mr Kinley was proposed by Mr Gawne and seconded by Mr Skelly. Mr Cannan and Mr Robertshaw were appointed as scrutineers. The results of the first ballot were: Mr Anderson 11 Mr Beckett 7 Mr Braidwood 8 Mr Cretney 11 Mr Henderson 17 Mr Kinley 9 Mr Henderson was declared elected. For a second ballot Mr Anderson was proposed by Mr Singer and seconded by Mr Crookall. Mr Braidwood was proposed by Mr Teare and seconded by Mr Watterson. Mr Beckett was proposed by Mrs Beecroft and seconded by Mr Thomas. Mr Cretney was proposed by Mr Shimmin and seconded by Mr Ronan. Mr Kinley was proposed by Mr Gawne and seconded by Mr Skelly. Mr Cannan and Mr Robertshaw were appointed as scrutineers. The results of the second ballot were: Mr Anderson 11 Mr Beckett 6 Mr Braidwood 11 Mr Cretney 12 Mr Kinley 8 The sitting was suspended for 10 minutes. 2 PP 2015/0044 For a third ballot Mr Anderson was proposed by Mr Singer and seconded by Mr Crookall. The results of the fifth ballot were: Mr Anderson 10 Mr Beckett 6 Mr Braidwood 12 Mr Cretney 13 Mr Crookall 12 Mr Cretney was declared elected. 4 PP 2015/0044 For a sixth ballot Mr Anderson was proposed by Mr Singer and seconded by Mr Shimmin. Mr Beckett was proposed by Mrs Beecroft and seconded by Mr Thomas. Mr Braidwood was proposed by Mr Teare and seconded by Mr Henderson. Mr Kinley was proposed by Mr Gawne and seconded by Mr Thomas. Mr Crookall was proposed by Mr Watterson and seconded by Mr Skelly. Mr Cregeen and Mr Quirk were appointed as scrutineers. The results of the sixth ballot were: Mr Anderson 9 Mr Beckett 4 Mr Braidwood 8 Mr Crookall 9 Mr Kinley 6 There was one invalid paper. For a seventh ballot Mr Anderson was proposed by Mr Singer and seconded by Mr Thomas. Mr Beckett was proposed by Mrs Beecroft and seconded by Mr Thomas. Mr Braidwood was proposed by Mr Teare and seconded by Mr Henderson. Mr Crookall was proposed by Mr Watterson and seconded by Mr Skelly. Mr Cregeen and Mr Quirk were appointed as scrutineers. The results of the seventh ballot were: Mr Anderson 9 Mr Beckett 4 Mr Braidwood 11 Mr Crookall 12 5 PP 2015/0044 For an eighth ballot Mr Anderson was proposed by Mr Singer and seconded by Mr Thomas. Mr Beckett was proposed by Mrs Beecroft and seconded by Mr Thomas. Mr Braidwood was proposed by Mr Teare and seconded by Mr Henderson.
