TRUSTEE SPOTLIGHT FOCUSING ON MEMBERS OF THE SYNAGOGUE BOARD OF TRUSTEES

Lev Kucherski came to the United States in 1974 and opened Lev’s Pawn shop in 1980. He currently has 17 locations. He became a member of Agudas Achim Synagogue in 1979 and Lev began serving on the board six years ago. Lev joined the board as a means of giving back to the synagogue and the community. He and his wife Lidia have three daughters, Inna, Masha and Susie, and seven grandchildren.

Galina Dashevsky, with her husband, Miron Dashevsky, came to the United States from Moscow (Russia) in 1993. Galina earned her PHD in economics and was the chairwomen of the economics department of the International Academy of Entrepreneurship in Moscow.

She has worked for the Leo Yassenoff Jewish Center for 12 years for the English as a Second Language Program. She helps immigrants to make transitions to their new life in the United States.

Galina and her husband joined Agudas Achim shortly after they came to the USA. As a board member Galina would like to continue her late husband’s efforts to reconnect people with Judaism - to stay in touch with Agudas Achim. Deeply attached to his Jewish roots her husband Miron, wrote the handbook for Russian-Speaking Congregants, which has been used at Agudas Achim since 1996.

Galina’s son Victor lives in Columbus with his wife, Elaine. Her grandson Dima is a student at Case Western Reserve University.
