A large group attended our Voyageurs venture to the Holocaust Memorial Center. It was an intensive two hour tour with a very talent- ed docent who shared his own mother's story of Holocaust survival. Following that was a touching presentation from a Holocaust survivor. We were very moved by our experience. We followed our tour with a wonderful dinner at the Stage Deli Restaurant and enjoyed main courses of everything from pastrami to potato latke and selected sev- eral desserts to share. An enjoyable day was had by all. We also found our way to Broadway in Detroit for the opening night of We Will Rock You at the Fisher Theatre. Thank you to Vince Passalacqua, DYC member and owner, Mario's, for making both our pre-theatre and afterglow experience so delightful. TRADITIONS COMMITTEE PATRICIA THULL O'BRIEN

In our work to date, we have determined six key areas with which to concentrate which encompasses the portion of our mis- sion that speaks to the DYC as a private club. They are: Location, Rules and Behavior, Traditions, Management, Membership/Marketing. Within each of these extents, we have reviewed inputs and have made some identification, defined direction and made recommendations. We have moved to the 'salient traditions' aspect of our mission as well. Here, we have begun to acknowledge relevant traditions that the committee feels need to be main- tained. Look for an upcoming meeting, soon to be announced. Traditions Committee Mission: The Traditions Committee helps to ensure that the salient traditions of the Detroit Yacht Club (DYC) are maintained and the image of the DYC is of a private yacht club and not a marina. As such, both traditional and his- torical data continue to be retrieved and documented. To achieve its mis- sion, the Traditions Committee may work with the DYC membership, in part or in whole, the Commodore, Past Commodores, the Board, and Management. The Traditions Committee is also open to anyone else that might find it of importance.
