After consultation with the concerned depart­ ments and careful consideration of the request, your Committee recommends that same be granted in accordance with m the following resolution. Cockrel: Resolved, That subject to the approval of the Consumer Affairs, Health, Police, Recreation and Transportation Depart­ ments, permission be and is hereby grant- ced to Detroit Black Gay Pride, Inc. (#140) i6r “Defroify Rotf&r Than July! 2002”, July 25-28, 2002 at Palmer Park; also, Candlelight Spiritual Vigil/March, July 25, 2002, commencing at Woodward, pro­ ceeding in the area of McNichols and Merrill Plaissance, ending at Palmer Park. Provided, That same is conducted under the rules and regulations of the concerned departments and the super­ vision of the Police Department, and further Provided, That petitioner secures a temporary use of land permit which will include the erection of any mechanical devices and temporary structures. Darryl ‘‘Shadeed Sadeeq” Jenkins: Has worked in the field of Social Services for 25 yrs. with a variety of youth populations. He is currently employed as a Program Director with Independence: A family of Services; Inc. a Nonprofit Community based Agency in New Jersey. After facilitating a workshop @ The 2010 National African American MSM Leadership Conference on HIV/AIDS entitled: "The Homophobia and Stigma Endured with being Gay, Muslim and Living with HIV". Mr. Sadeeq is even more passionate about his work in the community, especially with the MSM population.

Jay Kaplan: Has been the staff attorney for the ACLU of Michigan's LGBT Project since it began operations in 2001. Prior to that he worked for a disability rights agency where he started the HIV/AIDS Advocacy Program.

Jonathan Jacob Moore: Is a writer, spoken word artist, queer activist and student at Tufts University. Originally from Detroit, Jonathan is currently the Communications Intern at the ACLU of Michigan as well as a Gill Fellow at the Tufts1 Center for the Study of Race and Democracy and a Residential Fellow at Harvard Hutchins Center for African and American Research.

Dr. Vicki Golden (ABD) has over 20 years' experience in sales, recruitment, educational research, leadership training, and e-learning development. She holds the following degrees: Education Specialist Degree from Wayne State Michigan University; Master of Arts and Master of Science majored in International Administration from Central Michigan University; Bachelor of Business Administration and Marketing from Western Michigan University and an Associate of Applied Science centered on Genera! Business from Kalamazoo Michigan Community College. Currently, her research in Emotional Intelligence Leadership has been approved by Wayne State University and she is in her final stage of completing her PhD in Performance Improvement and Instructional Technology with a minor in Curriculum Development. Royale Theus: Director of Programs at the Michigan AIDS Coalition (MAC), has over 12 years In the Public Health field providing HIV prevention and education tools and resources to the most at risk populations. He attained a degree in Human Services at the University of Phoenix, graduating with honors in June 2014. His next educational goal is attaining a Master’s Degree in Social Work. Royale’s passion is working with minority adolescents; however, he has discovered new interests in mental health and gerontology. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family, working in his yard, and traveling.

Bre’ Campbell: is a 26 yr. old transgender woman living in Detroit. She has been a part of the AIDS United AmeriCorps team, and during the 2 yr. program was place in two agencies the Ruth Ellis Center and the Horizons Project where she flourished in her community service work. She is currently advocates for SPICE (Sista's Providing Intelligence, Creativity and Empowerment) and is a Board Member for KICK

Larry Thomas: Larry is 55 years young. He was born in Detroit. Larry attended the Detroit public school system, and graduated from Robert Morris College in Chicago He has been on several executive and advisory boards, including Men of Color and the Ruth Ellis Center of Detroit. Retiree of Ameritech & Macy's A Christian believer; he was a member of the former St. James MBC under the leadership of the late Charles H. Nicks, Jr. I love my mother having fun with my family and friends, world traveler, cooking and entertaining. Currently living in Houston, TX, care giving for his mother, loving the Lord @ Fountain of Praise and living life to its fullest.

Christopher Cushman: was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. He received his degree in Design and Illustration from Ferris State University. Chris began his career in photography and is attracted to portraiture, documentary/reportage In the 80's. Cushman has published a dance book entitled “Dance Through Life" and has had showings at galleries in Detroit and the Art Gallery of Ontario. Christopher had an active role on the board of Men of Color in the mid 90's and was the art director on KICK Magazine Christopher is working on two new volumes; "BLACKBOOK 30", a critical response to Mapplethorpe's Black Book, and “FIERCEi Being Black, Being Gay", a long-term documentary piece. Christopher has resided in Toronto for more than sixteen years but travels back home to Detroit often.
