Flats Condominiums at 139 Main Street in the beautifully restored former County Trust Bank building will be held on Friday, October 30th at 1:30 p.m. The project was developed by John Saraceno of the Trinity Organization and was made feasible through a grant from Westchester County. Mayor Hanauer said that “the adaptive reuse of this building is crucial to the economic redevelopment of our Historic Downtown Business District. Commerce will follow population growth.” The condominiums are 12 unique one and two bedroom condominiums at 135-139 Main Street and feature open and unique floor plans, energy star appliances, high ceiling & arched windows, private storage space, convenient to Metro North train and Bee Line buses, walk to shopping, farmers market, restaurants, community center and aquatics facility, bike and walking trails nearby. Ossining Historical Society Museum Annual Dinner / Silent Auction will be held on October 30th at Travelers’ Rest Route 100, Ossining. St. Ann's prepares over 100 Thanksgiving baskets of food for Ossining residents. Ossining Recreation Costume Parade will be held on Saturday, October 31st - line up at 3:00 PM at Nelson Sitting Park, off of Spring Street. Marchers will walk from Nelson Sitting Park to Market Square where they will be trophies awarded for the most interesting costumes, free cider and donuts and medals for all who attend. Special awards to the three best adult costumes and the ten best children’s costumes. Join the parade and show off your costumes, then march over to the Community Center for the DARE program. We start marching at 3:30pm sharp so get there early to get your balloons. Magic show is at Market Square at 4pm sharp. The Annual Halloween DARE Program will be held at the Joseph G. Caputo Community Center, Saturday October 31st from 6:00 to 8:30pm and is for children ages 1 to 10. The Ossining Recreation and Parks and the Ossining Police Department welcome you to come and celebrate Halloween the safe way! Ossining resident Ed Malsberg and his son Noel are having a joint exhibition at the Teatown Nature Center, Spring Valley Road, Ossining from November 3 to November 31. The Reception will be held on Saturday Nov. 14, from 1 to 4. Ed is a long time resident of Ossining with a long career as an illustrator. Learn the ABC’s of Home Inspection with Licensed Home Inspector Vincent Perna at the Ossining Public Library. Come to the Library on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 and learn about the ABC’s of Home Inspection with licensed home inspector Vincent Perna from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Budarz Theater. Mr. Perna from Environmental Designs Home and Building Inspection Services, Incorporated will discuss home issues such as: Old circuit breakers, inefficient boilers, asbestos, what to look for as a first time homebuyer and water damaged basement floors. Mr. Perna will answer any and all questions you have regarding the home inspection process and what to look for and ask of your inspector. Mr. Perna will also give examples of homes that he has inspected and what he has found when inspecting those homes. He will also have handouts for the public to take home. Richie Havens to Perform Local Katrina Relief Benefit Concert Music icon Richie Havens will perform a benefit concert for RiverBuild 2009 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Ossining on Saturday, November 7th at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $45 in advance, and $50 at the door. Proceeds from the concert will be used to help put families on the Mississippi Gulf Coast back into safe housing. A limited number of VIP tickets will be available; these include a pre-concert reception with Richie. Mr. Havens unhesitatingly agreed to lend his distinct vocal and guitar styles to this worthy cause. Mr. Haven’s music career was born in the folk clubs of Greenwich Village, and he went on to perform at major music festivals around the world. He was the opening act at Woodstock in 1969, and his performance was legendary. A supporter of many environmental and humanitarian causes, Mr. Havens has been a strong proponent of post-Katrina efforts on the Gulf Coast. Opening for Mr. Havens will be Gulf Coast musician Rochelle Harper. Her high energy style is a mix of folk-rock, soulful blues, and country. RiverBuild volunteers come from seven Episcopal churches located along the Hudson River. Over 150 volunteers young and old have been sent to the Gulf to help build and rehabilitate homes destroyed by Katrina.
