I can grow many of these plants because my soil conditions challenge them and slow them down. I have to watch many of the self-seeders carefully and control them by cutting off seed heads before they mature. Look at the colonies of Inula racemosa (the plant with the huge, almost cartoonish gray-green leaves), which is seeding everywhere. I like to leave it up because it's a beautiful winter structural plant, but this year I'll need to cut off many seed heads. Fortunately, it's easy to pull out when young. .
