INFORMATION FOR TOWN FANS We play Portsmouth on Saturday 21 December in League One at Fratton Park. The following guide has been produced for Town fans making the trip to Fratton Park. Specific information for Town fans Note: There is an RMT strike on South Western Railway during December. A reduced service has been running on the network, with just one fast train and one slow train per hour between London Waterloo and Portsmouth (all trains do stop at Fratton, which is the station nearest the ground). The timetable has not currently been finalised for the weekend of the game so times shown may change. You are advised to check www.southwesternrailway.com regularly for the latest information. The above will mean that services are likely to be much busier than usual – this is obviously compounded by the fact it is the last Saturday before Christmas. Ticket news Tickets for the game are sold out for both home and away fans. If you have any queries regarding your tickets then call the ticket office on 03330 050503 or email [email protected]. Travelling to Fratton Park Supporters Coach For those travelling from Ipswich the official coaches are leaving Portman Road promptly at 09:00 (please be at Portman Road at least 15 minutes before this). Coaches are expected to arrive back at Portman Road at around 21:10. The four official coaches are now sold out. Note that no more coaches will be added for this game. There will be a scheduled stop on both the outward and homeward journeys. Pick-ups at Marks Tey can be arranged for this game. If you want to organise a pick-up please call the Ticket Enquiries Team on 03330 050503 or email [email protected]. The cut-off point to request a pickup is midday on Wednesday 18 December. Your details will then be passed onto the coach company, Suffolk Norse. Note that all official coaches are non-smoking and the consumption of alcohol on board is strictly forbidden. ITFC recommend that all supporters under 16 are accompanied by an adult. Car The Sat Nav postcode for Fratton Park is PO4 8RA. Note: The suggested route involves the Dartford Crossing. You must pay the Dartford Crossing charge by midnight the day after you cross. You will get a fine if you are late or do not pay. Details can be found here: https://www.gov.uk/pay-dartford-crossing-charge From Ipswich, take the A12 to the M25. Join the M25 signposted M20/M23/Dartford/Crossing. Continue on the M25 to the junction with the A3 (junction 10). Use the left lane to take the A3 exit signposted London (SW) / Guildford. At the roundabout take the 1st exit onto the A3 slip road to Portsmouth / Guildford / Effingham. Keep right and merge onto the Portsmouth Road / A3. Continue along the A3 southbound, which becomes the A3(M) and then joins the A27 westbound. At the junction with the A2030 turn left towards Southsea/Fratton. Continue along the A2030 and eventually you will see the ground in front of you. Typically, the journey time is at around 2 hours 40 minutes but can take up to four hours in busy times. Note that roads are likely to be very busy with it being the last weekend before Christmas. In particular, the southern end of the A12 and then the M25 to just beyond the Dartford Bridge is likely to be very slow, as there will be a lot of traffic for the Lakeside and Bluewater shopping centres. It is worth considering either the western M25 route or even the M25 / M11 / A12 / Blackwall Tunnel / A2 / A20 options. You should allow at least another hour beyond the AA / Google / SatNav suggested journey time, to allow for possible delays. Parking There is limited parking around Fratton Park. Note that parking restrictions might be in place in the roads around the stadium on a matchday. Entrance to the club car park is via Anson Road, off Rodney Road. The postcode is PO4 8SX. Spaces are allocated on a first-come first-served basis and a charge of £10 per vehicle will be made. There is no entitlement to a specific space and stewards will allocate parking according to operational need. Note that this car park is the opposite end of the ground to the away end. www.footballgroundguide.com also suggests the Miltoncross School (postcode PO3 6RB) which offers parking at £5 per car. The school is a five-minute walk to the ground. It also suggests a car park at £5 which is on the corner of Velder Avenue and Milton Road, just a couple of minutes’ walk from the away end. Disabled Supporters Parking The stadium car park has 26 accessible parking spaces available to home and away fans. Entrance to the club car park is via Anson Road, off Rodney Road. The postcode is PO4 8SX. The Pompey website states: ‘Portsmouth’s accessible car parking policy is that these are spaces are allocated strictly on a first come, first served basis and early arrival is advised. Please note that accessible parking spaces cannot be reserved in advance. There is a discretionary concession charge of £5 per vehicle. To indicate your entitlement to an accessible space, you should be in possession of a valid special concession match ticket, or the holder of a valid Blue Badge, which should be displayed. You should show any entitlement to the steward on your arrival at the car park entrance. The car park is actively managed by stewards to ensure the most appropriate parking space is found for your individual needs. There is no entitlement to park in a specific space or area of the car park. Please indicate any specific needs you might have (eg, rear or side-opening vehicle) on arrival. If you need to drop off someone with limited mobility, please advise a steward on arrival, who will assist.’ Alternatively, you can contact ITFC’s Disability Liaison Officer Lee Smith on 01473 400556 or by email on [email protected]. Fratton Station is the closest station to the ground. It is around a 10-minute walk to the stadium. It is served by trains from London Waterloo. There is a lift at the station. Portsmouth Station is at least a 25-minute walk away. www.greateranglia.co.uk is currently showing a number of options from Ipswich to Fratton, with trains from Ipswich connecting to trains leaving Waterloo roughly every half hour. However, because of the potential revised timetable yet to be announced we have not listed the timings here. To get to Waterloo from London Liverpool Street you take the Central Line to Bank and change to the Waterloo & City Line to Waterloo. After the game trains are showing as leaving Fratton at regular intervals (24 minutes and 54 minutes pass the hour). Again, it is possible that these times will change. Whatever your travel plans, it’s worth checking www.greateranglia.co.uk for updated times and any late changes. Getting to the ground from the station Walking from Fratton Station Exit Fratton station via the footbridge (at the top of the stairs from the platform turn left onto the footbridge). Turn left onto Goldsmith Avenue. Continue along this road for about half a mile. Frogmore Road will be on your left. If you turn left here, Fratton Park will be at the bottom of this road.
