Agr. F.lli Rabino, Santa Vittoria d’Alba Auf den ehemaligen Weinbergen der Savoyer Königsfamilie baut die Familie Rabino seit Anfang des 20 Jahrhunderts Wein an. Das Gut Valle Spinzo liegt im Roero, dem Gebiet nördlich des Tanaro-Flusses, der Langhe und Roero trennt. Die Weine des Roero sind auf Grund der sandigeren Böden im Allgemeinen leichter und feinfruchtiger als die der Langhe. Die älteste urkundliche Erwähnung dieses Weingutes reicht über neun Jahrhunderte zurück. Die Weinberge liegen größtenteils amphitheaterartig um das Gutshaus. Angebaut werden die traditionellen Traubensorten des Roero, Nebbiolo und Barbera für die Rotweine, Arneis, Favorita und Moscato für die Weißweine. Vor über 25 Jahren lernte ich die Familie Rabino kennen und war sofort von ihren Weinen und ihrer Gastfreund- lichkeit begeistert. Daran hat sich bis heute nichts geändert, und ich freue mich, dass die Rabino ihrem Stil, terroir- typische Weine entgegen aller Moden zu erzeugen, bis heute treu geblieben sind. Alle Weine zeichnen sich durch ein exzellentes Preis/Genußverhältnis aus. Jens Priewe schreibt in seinem Buch »Italiens große Weine«: „...neben Zertifikat für den bekannten Namen gibt es eine Vielzahl von sehr guten Winzern, deren Weine mitunter von vorzüglicher nachhaltigen Weinbau Qualität, deren Namen jedoch wenig bekannt sind: die Gebrüder Rabino in Santa Vittoria…“ PR2 Nebbiolo d’Alba DOC Rebsorte: Nebbiolo - ätherisch, Lakritze, Erdbeeren PR23 Roero (Nebbiolo) DOCG Rebsorte: Nebbiolo - elegant, tiefgründig, fruchtig, komplex, 24 Monate im Holzfass gereift, sehr günstiger Preis PW12 Roero Arneis DOCG Rebsorte: Arneis - trocken, strukturiert, lang - Mein Tipp für die Liebhaber klassischer Weine - mit sehr gutem Reifepotential Az. Agr. Roberto Ferraris, Agliano „Roberto Ferraris ist einer der besten Vertreter des modernen Barbera d’Asti...“ schreibt der Weinführer Espresso. Dies haben wir bereits vor einigen Jahren erkannt und das kleine Weingut bereits 1998 in unser Programm aufgenommen. Egal, ob der einfache Barbera d‘Asti oder der Nobbio von alten Reben: Roberto schafft bei allen Weinen eine perfekte Balance zwischen Frucht, Tannin und Konzentration. Dabei sind seine Weine unverkennbar Barbera der Gemeinde Agliano geblieben, mit viel Körper, Alkohol und der relativ niedrigen Säure. Ideal das Preis/Genußver- hältnis bei allen Weinen. PR6 Barbera d’Asti DOCG Rebsorte: Barbera - körperreich, getrocknete Früchte, harmonisch PR61 Barbera d’Asti „Nobbio“ DOCG Rebsorte: Barbera - körperreich, tiefgründig, sehr lang, großer Barbera - von über 50 Jahre alten Reben Neues Weingut! Az. Agr. Il Rocchin, Gavi Im Herzen des Gavi Gebietes befindet sich der landwirtschaftliche Betrieb von Il Rocchin. Dieser umfasst 26 Hektar Weinberge im Gavi Gebiet. Hier wird fast ausschließlich die weiße Sorte Cortese di Gavi angebaut. Aus den Cortese Trauben der im Kerngebiet gelegenen Weinberge, die vollständig in der Gemeinde Gavi liegen, stammt der Gavi del Comune di Gavi. Der Betrieb ist spezialisiert auf die Weißweinerzeugung, und es werden aussschließlich eigene Trauben verarbeitet. Der Gavi von Il Rocchin gehört zu den zuverlässigsten Produkten der Appelation und überzeugt durch seinen Duft nach exotischen Früchten und seinen angenehm frischen, runden Geschmack. PW14 Gavi di Gavi DOCG Rebsorte: Cortese - füllig, exotischer Duft, ausgeglichen, feine Frucharomen PIEMONT 04 Az. Vinicola Francone & Antichi Poderi dei Gallina, Neive d’Alba Am Rande von Neive d’Alba unterhalb der historischen Lage „Gallina“ liegt das Weingut der Familie Francone. Seit über einem halben Jahrhundert beschäftigen sich die Francone mit Weinbau, nunmehr in der vierten Generation. Traditionell verarbeiten die Francone neben den eigenen Trauben Lesegut von befreundeten Winzern, deren Wein- berge unter ihrer Aufsicht stehen. Seit 1993 werden die Weine der Einzellagen unter dem Etikett „Antichi Poderi dei Gallina“ verkauft. Hierbei handelt es sich stets um die Spitze der Produktion. Die Selektion der Francone-Linie wird unter dem Label „I Patriarchi“ angeboten. Verantwortlich für die Kellerarbeit ist der jüngere Sohn und Önologe Fabrizio Francone, der als einer der be- gabtesten jungen Winzer des Piemonts gilt. In den letzten Jahren hat er den Stil des Hauses klar definiert, der sich perfekt durch alle erzeugten Weine zieht. Weine mit klaren Fruchtaromen, Finesse, ausgewogenen Tanninen und mit echter Typizität. Erreicht wird das neben hervorragender Weinbergsarbeit von Vater Mauro und Bruder Marco besonders durch die sorgfältige Vinifizierung und den perfekten Ausbau der verschiedenen Weine mit zum Teil jahrelangem Flaschenlager. Agricola Sordo, Castiglione Falletto Sie blühen im Verborgenen, machen nicht viel Aufsehen um sich und werden oft leicht übersehen. Das die Az. Agr. Giovanni Sordo trotzdem zur 1. Liga der Barolo Produzenten gehört ist vielen daher noch unbekannt. Vor gut 100 Jahren gegründet, gelang es dem Sohn des Gründers Giovanni zahlreiche Weinberge in den allerbesten Lagen des Barolo Gebietes zu erwerben. Damit legte er den Grundstein für das heutige Weingut, das insgesamt 68 Hektar umfasst, wovon 53 bepflanzt sind. Die Sordo haben sich nie Moden angeschlossen und erzeugen in ihrer großartigen Kellerei traditionell die Weine der Langhe. Ihr Aushängeschild ist der Barolo, der außer dem Jahrgangs-Barolo, auch die Barolo aus sage und schreibe sechs Cru-Lagen umfasst. Namen wie „Rocche di Castiglione“, „Gabutti“, usw., sind für die Liebhaber dieses Nektars Musik in den Ohren. Diese in Deutschland recht unbekannte Weinbauregion besticht durch ihre hervorragenden Weine und Schaumweine auf Pinot Nero Basis. Seit den 60er Jahren bewirtschaftet die Familie Dacarro das Gut mit seinen 33 Hektar Weinreben, die komplett um die Gutsgebäude gruppiert sind. Das Credo der Dacarro ist neben der kompromisslosen Qualität der Weine, auch der schonende, nachhaltige Umgang mit der Natur. Auf Herbizide und Kunstdünger wird verzichtet, die Behandlung der Reben ist auf das Unverzichtbare reduziert worden. Das Ganze setzt sich im Weinkeller fort, wo möglichst wenig Schwefel eingesetzt wird, um sehr bekömmliche Weine zu erhalten. Alle Weine zeichnen sich durch ihre trinkige und sehr bekömmliche Art aus.     RECIOTO di Soave DOCG 2015 VINEYARD: Hand selected grapes from the oldest vines (up to 46 years) and best parcels from the hillside vineyards in Soave. The soils here are brown with large quantities of small volcanic stone and the vines have an excellent southern aspect. Harvest is methodical and very selective. Soil: volcanic stony surface on clay and limestone soil. Surface area: several ha Vine density per hectare: 3,500 Training: Pergola WINEMAKING & AGEING: Made from 100% dried grapes, dried in wooden boxes for a few months. The grapes are then de-stemmed and fermented for 20 days in 25 hl stainless steel tanks before they are placed in their barrels for maturation. When they are pressed only a small quantity of must is obtained. This must is so dense and concentrated that it seems to have difficulty to come out of the grapes. After a few days of natural decantation this precious nectar is put into 228 liter barrels. The alcoholic fermentation is very slow and it takes many months. After this period the wine is racked several times so as to enable fermentation at the right point of balance between alcohol and residual sugar.     SAN ZENO RECIOTO DI SOAVE DOCG SOIL TYPE: Chalky, limestone and pebbly located on the valley floor. PRUNING SYSTEM: Short Veronese Pergola, Guyot GRAPE VARIETIES: Garganega 100% YIELD: 4 tonnes / hectare HARVEST: Grapes are harvested by hand in the first two weeks of September. WINE-MAKING TECHNIQUE: After careful selection, the grapes are hung up on vertical wires to dry in the fruit drying loft for 5-6 months. Toward the end of February, the grapes are pressed softly. Fermentation is carried out in barriques for 15 – 20 days. The wine is matured in barrique for a further 24 - 30 months. TASTING NOTES: Intense amber in colour, San Zeno is full-bodied with an aftertaste of bitter almonds which balances the soft, sweet, vanilla and sometimes spicy notes on the palate. The bouquet has aromas of bitter almond and dried fruit. SAN ZENO RECIOTO DI SOAVE DOCG FOOD & WINE MATCHING: Perfect with deserts which are quite dry especially with dishes prepared with hazelnuts, almonds and dried fruits.     Veneto Valpolicella DOC Produced from 45-95% Corvina, blended with Rondinella. Other grapes of the region, such as Molinara, Negrara and Oseleta, up to 15% of the blend are permitted. Valpolicella “Superiore” show a rounder character, with a higher minimum alcohol and a minimum of one year of aging. Valpolicella Classico region is at the western end of the appellation, near the shores of Lake Garda, and consists of four “valleys, surrounding the communes of Fumane, Marano, Negrar, Sant'Ambrogio, and San Pietro in Cariano. Sub appellations also from the valleys of Valpantena and Illasi, Single vineyard (vigna) bottlings also exist. Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG Recioto della Valpolicella DOCG Recioto della Valpolicella and Amarone della Valpolicella were finally approved for DOCG status in late 2009, and may labelled “Classico” or “Valpantena” if they originate in the respective areas. Made by the appassimento process; the grapes are dried for approximately 120 days (4months) in special chambers (fruttai), under controlled conditions thus concentrating sugars. & flavours ,. (Approx 30% of original weight) The appassimento process adds complex dried fruit flavours, & additional alcoholic potential to the resulting must. Following drying, (end of January/beginning of February,) the grapes are pressed and go through a dry low temperature fermentation which can last between 30/50 days. The reduced water content can slow down the fermentation process, increasing the risk of spoilage and potential wine faults such as high volatile acidity If fermentation is stopped early, the resulting wine will contain residual sugar (more than 4 grams of sugar per litre) and produce a sweeter wine known as Recioto della Valpolicella.
