white cheese - shopski style

The Shopski Style White Cheese is a dish, which is typical for the region around the capital, but it is also prepared in the other parts of the country.

Similarly to , cheese is always present on the table of , and it is a part of many dishes - starters, appetizers and main courses.

The white brined cheese, which is prepared in Bulgaria, has a specific taste - it is salty, astringent and crumbly. It is made by cow, sheep or goat . Cow cheese is the most popular one. It is sold in all stores, and it is also exported abroad.

For preparing Shopski Style White Cheese there is one important condition - the dish must be baked in a small clay vessel, which holds one portion - an earthenware pot.

In order to prepare Shopski Style White Cheese, you need 250 g white cheese, 20 g butter, 1 egg, 1 , 1 hot pepper.

1. Slice the cheese.

2. Slice the tomato.

3. At the bottom of a clay pot put one layer of cheese.

6. Add a raw egg.

8. Then put a hot pepper on top.

9. Add fat of choice to the dish and put it in the oven.
