To reinforce the safety message personnel at Ardrossan Community Fire Station are working in partnership with Alzheimer Scotland to provide awareness training to key workers from the organisation who deliver services to the elderly within the area. The training has been tailored to suit the care workers and involves them being given education and advice regarding which signs and symptoms to look for in recognition of fire related risks within client’s homes. People with dementia are identified as vulnerable individuals and as such often fall into a higher risk group than others in relation to fire.

As a result of the training, Alzheimer Scotland’s key workers will have the skills and knowledge required to highlight any at risk practices which their service users may be undertaking.
