The training has been tailored to suit the care workers and involves them being given education and advice regarding which signs and symptoms to look for in recognition of fire related risks within client’s homes. People with dementia are identified as vulnerable individuals and as such often fall into a higher risk group than others in relation to fire. As a result of the training, Alzheimer Scotland’s key workers will have the skills and knowledge required to highlight any at risk practices which their service users may be undertaking. If they have any concerns about a client’s safety from fire within the home, they can contact their local Community Fire Station and request specific safety advice and a Free Home Fire Safety Visit Outings Planned from local operational crews.
