Overview East Carolina University (ECU), a public, four-year university established in 1907, is located in Greenville, North Carolina. ECU has 11 degree-granting colleges/school/institutes. Serving a largely rural population in the coastal region of the state, ECU is one of 17 constituent institutions within the University of North Carolina (UNC) System. ECU accomplishes its mission - to be a national model for student success, public service and regional transformation - through education, research, creative activities and service. As of Fall 2018, ECU is the fourth largest institution in the UNC System. ECU is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award baccalaureate, master's, and doctoral degrees. The UNC System is governed by a Board of Governors, which delegates significant responsibility to ECU's Board of Trustees. The Carnegie Commission on Higher Education classifies ECU as a Doctoral University: Higher Research Activity. In 2010 and 2015, ECU received the Community Engagement Classification from the New England Resource Center for Higher Education. Facts and Figures ECU has 11 degree-granting colleges and schools, which offers 84 baccalaureate degree programs, 71 master's degree programs, five professional practice doctoral programs, 13 research/scholarship doctoral programs, 84 certificates, and two specialist degree programs. In Fall 2018, ECU employed nearly 7,000 personnel (including graduate assistants); more than 2,000 of these employees held a faculty appointment. In 2017-2018, ECU conferred more than 7,000 degrees and had core expenses exceeding $895 million. ECU’s total enrollment in Fall 2018 was 28,178 with 23,017 undergraduates and 5,161 graduate students. All 100 counties in North Carolina, 50 states and the District of Columbia, and 63 countries were represented in the student body. Ethnic minorities made up 30 percent of undergraduate students, 25 percent of graduate students, 35 percent of medical students, and 37 percent of dental students.     VIDANT MEDICAL CENTER Greenville, NC PROGRAMS OFFERED The program is approved for four years of training in anatomic and clinical pathology through the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine of The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University and the Department of Pathology of Vidant Medical Center. The core curriculum consists of 27 blocks in anatomic pathology and 18 blocks in clinical pathology. The remaining 7 blocks can be used to study a specialized area of pathology or engage in research. Rotations provide experience in surgical, autopsy, and forensic pathology, cytopathology, renal pathology and electron microscopy, neuropathology, dermatopathology, hematopathology, chemical pathology, microbiology, transfusion medicine, cytogenetics, histocompatibility testing, molecular diagnostics, informatics, and laboratory administration and management. The anatomic and clinical pathology residency program at Vidant Medical Center/East Carolina University seeks to equip our residents with the clinical knowledge, technical skills, and managerial and administrative expertise needed to handle the medical and administrative aspects of a pathology laboratory. With the guidance and supervision of the department’s faculty and the staff, residents gradually assume greater responsibility for the daily functions of the pathology service. We are excited to welcome you and other Little League Softball champions to Greenville, North Carolina, and Stallings Stadium at Elm Street Park for the 2021 Little League Softball World Series Tournament. More than 6,000 teams participate in the Little League® International Tournament with very few experiencing and reaching this level. We have prepared a wealth of information to assist you as a participant in the 2021 Little League Softball World Series Tournament. Please review the contents of this booklet. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us after reviewing the provided information. The next page outlines the tasks that require your IMMEDIATE ATTENTION. We need a few items to be submitted within 48 hours of qualifying for the World Series tournament. Please review with your coaching staff, League President, and/or league Board of Directors. The team’s coaching staff and League President will receive an email from the Little League International Office, after we speak to the team manager over the phone, that will provide instructions and links to begin submitting the information online. The online submissions do not have to be completed by the team manager, although he/she is responsible for ensuring the information is submitted and accurate. There are also physical and digital forms that needs to be submitted for each player by their parent/legal guardian prior to the team’s arrival meeting.
