    STAFF REPORT April 12, 2006 To: Works Committee From: Gary Welsh, General Manager, Transportation Services Subject: Potential to increase the Number of Taxi Stands Adjacent to TTC Subway Stations (All Wards) Purpose: To respond to a request from City Council for a report on the feasibility of increasing the number of Taxi Stands in the vicinity of Subway Stations. Financial Implications and Impact Statement: The funds associated with the introduction of the appropriate regulatory signage are contained in the approved Transportation Services Division 2006 Operating Budget. Recommendations: It is recommended that: (1) the following 26 new Taxi Stands as described in Attachment #1, be established in the vicinity of Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) Subway Stations; and (2) the appropriate City officials be authorized and directed to take the necessary action to give effect thereto, including the introduction in Council of any bills that may be required. Background: City Council, at its meeting held on May 17, 18 and 19, 2005, in adopting Consolidated Clause 16 (j) in Works Committee Report 5, requested that Transportation Services staff report to the Works Committee on the feasibility of increasing the number of Taxi Stands around TTC Subway Stations, and further that representatives of the Taxi industry, in particular Ms. Souter, General Manager of Beck Taxi, be invited to depute on the item. - 2 - Comments: The issue of designating Taxi Stands in the vicinity of Subway Stations was last dealt with by the former Metropolitan Toronto Council in February, 1992. At that time, the former area municipalities were requested to implement designated Taxi Stands at Subway Station locations.

    Attachment 2 - Part 3 of 3 CHAPTER 8 CITY OF TORONTO 2018 102 A CONNECTED AND VERSATILE NETWORK OF PUBLIC PARKS The parkland analysis and public feedback received have been synthesized with new park spaces previously identified as part of the 2014 Midtown in Focus: Parks, Open Space and Streetscape Master Plan to create a connected and versatile network of public parks for Midtown (Figure 11). The network capitalizes on the area’s existing park assets with an eye to expanding these parks and making better use of these spaces to support local needs. It also identifies a series of proposed public parks of all shapes and sizes throughout the area. In some instances, the identification of proposed parks is opportunistic to complement and further strengthen the Public Realm Moves or to recognize the transformative potential associated with the existing subway trench and Davisville Yard. In other instances, a practical approach has been taken to provide new park spaces capable of accommodating a range of locally-oriented passive and active activities throughout the area that will not only provide new park spaces, but also fill in missing gaps. Taken as a whole, the network of public parks that will be created responds to the challenges and opportunities facing Midtown both now and into the future. These applications propose a Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) Light Rail Vehicle (LRV) Maintenance and Storage Facility at 8304 Sheppard Avenue East. This facility is intended to serve the Sheppard East, Eglinton Crosstown and Scarborough Malvern Light Rail Transit (LRT) lines which are all part of the Transit City Plan. This report provides preliminary information on the above-noted applications and seeks Planning and Growth Management Committee’s direction on the further processing of the applications and on the community consultation process. These applications seeks to permit a maintenance and storage facility which is a key component of the Transit City Plan. Accordingly, staff is of the view that the application should be deemed a matter of City-wide interest and that all planning reports be routed through and the public Staff report for action – Preliminary Report - 8304 Sheppard Avenue East 1 meeting held before the Planning and Growth Management Committee. The applications should proceed through the normal planning process in terms of community consultation.     Report for Action Eglinton Crosstown LRT Interchange Stations – Final Designs Date: March 20, 2018 To: TTC Board From: Chief Capital Officer Summary Metrolinx is currently constructing the Eglinton Crosstown LRT between Weston Road and Kennedy subway station, scheduled to open in 2021. This new LRT line will be operated by TTC and be identified as TTC Line 5. Approximately half of the 19 km LRT line will run underground, and connect to three existing subway stations. These interchange stations are currently under construction and will connect to Line 1 at Eglinton West Station (to be renamed Cedarvale Station) and Eglinton Station, and Line 2 at Kennedy Station. As the owner and operator of the subway system in Toronto, the TTC has a responsibility to ensure that the structural integrity of the existing subway infrastructure is maintained during construction, and that safe and efficient operation of the system is maintained. This report presents the final Metrolinx/Crosslinx Transit Solutions designs of the 3 interchange stations at Eglinton West (Cedarvale), Eglinton and Kennedy. Recommendations It is recommended that the Board: 1. Approve the final designs for Cedarvale, Eglinton and Kennedy interchange stations, as presented in this report. Financial Summary The Master Agreement between Metrolinx, the City of Toronto and the TTC, states that Metrolinx, as owner and developer, is responsible for expenditures related to the delivery of the Eglinton Crosstown Light Rail Transit Project. The Chief Financial Officer has reviewed this report and agrees with the financial impact information. The LRT will operate underground from Laird Drive in the east to Keele Street in the west, as the width of Eglinton Avenue in this area is too narrow to accommodate street level LRT.
