Telling the cows of their plans they ask if they know anyone who would like to join them. And so off they all go by taxi, bus, train and aeroplane to Italy clever these animals. And once in Milan they go to La Scala opera house where the competition to find the Greatest Orchestra in the World takes place. When it is their turn they walk onto the stage, raise their instruments and a hush falls over the whole audience. As they begin to play, an awful racket comes out because, of course, animals can't play instruments not so clever these animals and several judges cover their ears and one even boos! Sad and dejected the animals leave the stage only to be called back by the music lady who lived below Stan and Mabel. She explains to the judges that they have overlooked some unusual talent and she adds, 'I give you The whole crowd stands on their feet and applauds and within a week the Animal Orchestra begin a world tour And it was. Across the 1940’s, 50’s, and 60’s, a wide range of popular crime fiction was translated, written, theorized, printed and reprinted in Argentina, and these popular genres grew steadily in readership, visibility, and cultural legitimacy. These genres were largely dismissed as insipid forms of mass-culture entertainment by contemporary criticism, however, and their relevance has been downplayed by literary history to this day. My study of the novels of these influential authors restores this context in order to highlight their appropriations from these undervalued narrative traditions, in which they found incipient forms of social critique and unique modes of representing history and the social order.

I am Sharon Donnan and I have the pleasure of interviewing Mabel Fairbanks, a figure skating legend in her own time. Q: Mabel, I thought today we would start off with some of the very basic details in the beginning of your life, and if you could just tell me about your place of birth and your childhood, and we could spend a few minutes there. A: Well, I only know what I was told. I was there but I wasn't there (Laughter) because I do not remember any of those things like some kids are smart in the womb and they can remember, but I was never that smart. (Laughter) But I was born in the Florida Everglades, and Seminole Indian grandmother and English grandfather. My father was an African. I was in the Everglades until I was about maybe 3 years old, and naturally, I don't remember anything about it. So I only know that I was born there because an older sister told me that I was. I came out and I lived with my mother and father and all of my sisters and brothers, and then I'm like Topsy, I wasn't born; I just grew.

  • Final Script Maleficarum
Maleficarum: The Radio Play Scene 1: Exoneration Case (The Press and News Reporters frantically asking questions about the upcoming case) Defence: All rise for the honourable Judge Kovalski. (Chairs shuffling, people standing up) Judge: Today, the 16th March 2020, we reopen the case of “Hagerstow vs Lady Margaret Goldwell. Goldwell was convicted of Witchcraft and 1st Degree Murder on two counts on the 23rd of September 1611.The Court of Appeal exerts its powers under the Criminal Appeal Act of 1995 to re-trial this event. Defence: I present to you the new evidence provided by the Smith family. Judge: Annie Smith and Grace Smith’s diary from 1611 has been brought to the attention of the court. The named were aged 10 when they recounted the proceedings of the trial. This document meets a new threshold of evidence. Defence: In these proceedings the Smith family of Hagerstow, bring forth evidence that the children, in 1611, shed a new light on the unlawful proceedings that took place. (Beat) There seems to be a miscarriage of justice that points towards the wrongful conviction of the defendant. The Smith family seek judicial review of the Criminal Case of Lady Margaret Goldwell. Scene 2: Introduction to Hagerstow (‘Miserere’ and ‘Summer is Icumen in’ playing in the background) Annie: We were always told that the end of our village was the end of the world. If you managed to walk that far, you would drop straight down and fall into the great unknown. But my sister and I know that’s not true. It’s a fairy-tale we were told to scare us.
