MIDLAND HIGH SCHOOL DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS Tuesday, January 28, 2020 Pledge of Allegiance Are you 18 years old? Are you registered to vote? Mr. Eric Magner, former elections officer in the United States Army, will be here this Thursday and Friday in EyeBall Alley during both lunches to assist 18 year old students with getting registered to vote. Some of this year's Juniors and Seniors will be of voting age by the next election. While Mr. Magner is currently serving as a regional field director with the Republican Party of Michigan, this voter registration drive will be non-political and non-partisan. Don't forget to send your sweetheart a Singing Valentine! The Meistersingers will be taking orders in eyeball alley during lunch!

In February, a team of artists from our school will be competing in a contest by building a sculpture out of food boxes and cans! The contest will occur at the Midland Mall, but before then we are doing a Canned Food Drive here! Through the month of January, please drop off your donations outside of the old Chemic Corner room. We will update when the contest is approaching so you can go and see what our team produced. Girl’s kickoff meeting for Spring season is scheduled for today at 2:45pm in the MHS Cafeteria. Attention Football Players: Off-season strength and speed training began on Monday. Athletes will meet in the auxiliary gym on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 2:40. All athletes not in a winter sport should plan on attending. Direct any questions to Coach Methner. If you are a Junior interested in co-oping next year, there will be a MANDATORY meeting in room 122 on February 11th at either 7:15am or 3:30pm. You MUST attend one of these meetings in order to co-op next year. There will be a meeting Thursday morning at 7:15 in Ms. Marsh's room for all DECA students going on to the state conference. We will be discussing costs, housing, transportation, etc. Chemics! 2020 Yearbook prices go up February 1 - that's this Saturday! Don't pay more than you have to. On Wednesday the 29th we have Boys Hockey against Dow High at 7:00pm at the Midland Civic Arena. On Friday the 31st we have Boys swim at Dow High against Carman - Ainsworth at 6:00pm. Come out and support your teams! Interested in Girls Lacrosse? There will be a Players and Parents informational meeting on Monday, February 3rd at 7:00 pm in the Dow High Cafeteria. If you're a returning player, we have a lot of news and rule changes for the upcoming season. If you're a new player or thinking about playing, we will have our coaching staff there to answer all of your questions. The Chemic Student Council/Student Leadership will be hosting the first ping pong tournament of the year this Friday, January 31, at 2:45 in Eyeball Alley. We are starting small with an 8-team tournament. The purpose of this mini tournament is for pure fun, no prizes will be given. Teams of two can sign-up on the student council door no later than Thursday, January 30th. Participation is on a first come first serve basis so sign-up today!
