After only one year, his home school, Algonac, had the varsity track and JV football positions open up. Roger spent five seasons as the JV football coach with a record of 21-17, twenty-five seasons as the boys varsity track coach with a 172-58 record, twenty-five years as the boys cross-country coach with a 164-60 record, and fourteen years as the girls cross country coach with a 79-24 record. MHSCA Hall of Fame The Michigan High School Coaches Association was founded on the campus of Cen- tral Michigan University in 1954. CMU has graciously provided housing for the hall, since 1971. The Hall of Fame is Now Literally a Hall! It has been relocated to the hallway that is the north entrance to the Student Activities Center (SAC), just south of Rose Area. The entrance is just north of the stone sign for the MHSCA Hall of Fame. It features a 60’ long mural, showcases, and an electric kiosk, featuring all of the 695 inductees, dating back to 1958. The process of uploading previous inductees is ongoing, but the hall is very impressive. Stop by and visit, if you can. Qualifications for nomination are as follows: 1) one must have served a minimum of twenty-five (20) years in high school coaching and/or athletic administration; 2) re- ceive two letters of recommendation from administrators and/or fellow coaches; 3) have exemplified service to his/her community, state and affiliated organization; 4) demonstrated coaching excellence.
