Bangor Township Schools Athletics “The Weekly Prey” Bangor Township Schools Athletics “The Weekly Prey” Volume 24– April 21st, 2019 2 Student Athletes Nominated for Bay City Athlete of the Week Brandon Beaver and Maddy Forgash were both nominated in the April 15th MLIVE Bay City Athlete of the Week for their performances! In the MLIVE story, Lee Thompson wrote “Beaver garnered a whopping 27,166 votes to finish in first, good for 33.8 percent of the 80,329 ballots cast! He fired a four-hitter with 12 strikeouts in a 6-0 victory over Cheboygan, giving Glenn championship honors in the John Glenn Invitational last weekend. He also went 6.1 scoreless innings in a 3-0 win over Bay City Central in the Bay County Baseball Championship.” Full story from Lee Thompson and MLIVE here: Brandon Beaver Wrestling Like Attitude - player of the week MLIVE Softball Players to Watch for the 2019 Season – John Glenn High School Kennedi Hardy, Leah Lesczynski and Brianna Woods were all named to the “Must See Players” in Bay County MLIVE list. Lee Thompson writes the following on each- Kennedi Hardi- “When there are ducks on the pond, nobody sends them flying more than this hard-hitting junior. In her first two varsity seasons, Hardy tallied an incredible 97 RBIs during regular season play. Now she finds herself at the heart of order that may give her even more run-producing opportunities. A versatile athlete, she can play first base, third base, pitcher and catcher as needed for the Bobcats.” Leah Leszczynski- “The quiet leader of the Bobcats, she lets her play speak loud and clear. The kind of player who has a hidden competitive fire, she isn't afraid to get her uniform dirty by diving for balls at shortstop or swiping second base. The table-setter for a potent lineup at the leadoff spot, she batted .385 a year ago and often found other ways to get on base. With speed to burn, she stole 14 bases last season. She now begins her fourth season of varsity action.” Brianna Woods- “Now in her third varsity season as a junior, Woods is the cog that makes the Bobcats go. She stands at the heart of the action both as the ace pitcher and as the top returning hitter. She batted .409 with two home runs and 26 RBIs a year ago. She continues to evolve as a pitcher, where she notched 12 wins and 111 strikeouts as a sophomore. Not the most overpowering thrower, she hits her spots and has movement on every pitch, continually frustrating batters.” Full story from Lee Thompson here: https://expo.mlive.com/sports/g66l-2019/04/2971191f0d1296/15- mustsee-bay-county-high-school-softball-players-for-2019.html MLIVE Baseball Player to Watch for the 2019 Season – John Glenn High School Lee Thompsons writes the following of Rory O’Hare – “When it comes to injecting a dose of excitement into the game, O'Hare delivers right from the get-go. The ideal leadoff hitter with a knack for getting on base, he's the kind of player who creates headaches with his speed and heads-up base running. A talented shortstop, he possesses a game sense that multiplies his skills whether he's playing football, basketball or baseball. He ranked among Bay County leaders a year ago with 31 runs scored and 12 stolen bases. He is making a much- anticipated comeback from injury this spring after missing the fall and winter sports seasons.” April 21st through April 28th – Home Games Highlighted Monda y 04/22/2019 Opponent Site 4:00 PM Home Baseball B JV VS Bullock Creek High School - Midland Bay City John Glenn High School, Jeff Hartt 4:00 PM Away Baseball Varsity At Saginaw Herit age Olson Park 4:00 PM Home Golf B Varsity VS Caro High School Bay Valley Golf Course, Bay Valley Golf Course 4:00 PM Home Softball JV VS Coleman John Glenn HS Softball Fields 4:00 PM Home Softball Varsity VS Saginaw Heritage John Glenn HS Softball Fields 4:00 PM Away Soccer G Varsity @ Bay City Central High School Handy Middle School, Soccer Field 4:00 PM Away Tennis G Varsity @ Imlay City Hig h School Imlay City Sports Complex, Tennis Courts 5:00 PM Home Tennis G JV VS Garber High School Bay City John Glenn High School, Tennis Courts 6:15 PM Away Soccer G JV @ Bay City Centr al High School Handy Middle School, Soccer Field Tuesday 04/23/2019 Opponent Site 3:00 PM Away Golf B JV JV Golf SVL @ Davison @ Davison High School Davison Country Club, Davison Country Club 3:30 PM Away Golf B Varstiy SVL Meet #1 @ S awmill vs Heritage @ TBA Not Listed, TBA 4:00 PM Home Track Varsity Powers vs JGHS Track at JGHS john Musulin Bay City John Glenn High School, Jim Doyle 4:00 PM Away Tennis G Varsity @ Midland High School Midland High School, Tennis Courts 4:00 PM Away Softball G JV @ Unionville-Seb ewaing High School Unionville-Sebewaing High School, Softball 4:00 PM Away Tennis G JV @ Midland High School Midland High School, Tennis Courts Wednesday 04/24/2019 Opponent Site 12:00 PM Non-Game CMMS CMMS Softball H ome game Bay City John Glenn High School, JV Softball field Event 4:00 PM Away Baseball B JV JV only @ Garber High School Garber High School, Baseball Diamond 4:30 PM Home Track CMMS VS White Pine Middle School Bay City John Glenn High School, Jim Doyle 5:00 PM Home Soccer G Varsity VS HH Dow High School Bay City John Glenn High School, Varsity Soccer 5:00 PM Home Soccer G JV VS HH Dow High School Bay City John Glenn High School, Junior Varsity Thursday 04/25/2019 Opponent Site 4:00 PM Away Softball G Varsity @ Midland High School Midland High School, Varsity Softball Diamond 4:00 PM Away Softball G JV @ Midland High School Midland High School, JV Softball Diamond 4:00 PM Home Tennis G Varsity VS Saginaw High School Bay City John Glenn High School, Tennis Courts 4:00 PM Away Baseball B JV @ Midland High School Midland High School, JV Baseball Diamond 4:00 PM Home Baseball B Varsity VS Midland High School Bay City John Glenn High School, Jeff Hartt Friday 04/26/2019 Opponent Site 3:00 PM Away Track Varsity Chesaning Track Meet @ Chesaning High Chesaning High School, Football Practice Field 5:00 PM Home Soccer G JV Pinconning Varsity vs JGHS JV VS Pinconning Bay City John Glenn High School, Junior Varsity Saturday 04/27/2019 Opponent Site 10:00 AM Away Soccer G Varsity Spring Fling Soccer Tournament @ Chippewa Chippewa Hills High School, Soccer Field.

To determine these graduates' activities nine months after graduation, 376 of them were telephoned and asked about post-secondary education, employment status, and perception/evaluation of their high school education. The results of that survey are reported here. Survey findings will provide school board members, administrators, teachers, and counselors with data to assist them in instructional and curricular planning. Results indicate that 70.9% of the graduates were in college, school, training, or apprentice programs. For those attending school, the five top study areas were business, education and social services, medicine and health services, general courses/undecided, and engineering and architecture. Over half (52.9%) of the graduates attending school felt that they used their high school education a lot in their major area of study. Regarding employment, 70.3% of those surveyed were working for pay and 4.8% were full-time homemakers. The two most frequently mentioned "suggested improvements" to the high school program were: "more challenging courses such as problem-solving exercises, more basic college level classes" and "better teachers that check student work." Four appendixes present survey instruments and data.
