Geelong 18 16 2 0 151.0 64 Hawthorn 17 13 4 0 136.7 52 Carlton 18 12 5 1 132.4 50 With only three rounds remaining in the Premier Division competition before the finals, the top sides flexed their West Coast 17 12 5 0 118.8 48 muscle with some big scores registered in Round 17 action. The top five is all but set but there is still the potential for changes in ladder positions. Sydney Swans 17 9 7 1 109.6 38 St Kilda 17 9 7 1 109.4 38 A case in point is the Friday night encounter between Balmain and North Shore at Henson Park. Balmain have recorded the most wins this season, but East Coast currently sit atop on Match Ratio, and with a match in hand. Fremantle 17 9 8 0 95.5 36 The Dockers warmed up with a 83-point win over Campbelltown in the Foxtel Match of the Round. In his fourth match of the season, 31 year-old ex-Swan, Nick Davis kicked twelve goals, as Tim Schmidt and Ben Taggart were Essendon 18 8 9 1 100.0 34 again impressive in the midfield. The match is equally important for North Shore who jumped Pennant Hills into fourth on percentage, courtesy of their resounding win over Western Suburbs. The Bombers have bounced back North Melbourne 18 8 10 0 99.7 32 well after their disappointing loss to the Demons, and will fancy their chances of registering another top scalp under Melbourne 17 7 9 1 86.8 30 the Friday night lights. Western Bulldogs 18 7 11 0 93.9 28 In Saturday action, it is a case of first versus last, as East Coast host Campbelltown. It looms as a daunting task for Richmond 17 5 11 1 82.5 22 the Blues who struggled to keep pace with Balmain after quarter-time last Sunday. Bryce Joynson and Fraser Brown were the Blues‘ best that day and will again have their hands full against the all-round talent in the Eagles‘ Adelaide 17 5 12 0 76.6 20 ranks. The top side kicked sixteen second-half goals in their defeat of UTS at Waverley Oval last weekend. Jack Brisbane 17 3 14 0 77.0 12 Dimery continued his impressive season, while Ben Rogers and Brad Ure put in strong individual performances. Gold Coast 17 3 14 0 57.5 12 UTS face a tough road trip to North Dalton Park to take on Illawarra. The Lions‘ finals chances were effectively Port Adelaide 17 2 15 0 69.7 8 ended with their away loss to St George last weekend. Despite the best efforts of Andrew Barned (six goals) and Josh Tier, St George controlled the majority of the contest. UTS were competitive up to half-time, with Tom Stein- fort and Andrew Davis leading the way. Both sides will be seeking a win as they look to end their 2011 season on the right note. Carlton 11.14-80 def. North Melbourne 9.8-62 UNSW come off the bye to host an ever-improving St George at the Village Green. The Dragons, as mentioned, West Coast 15.13-103 def. Western Bulldogs 15.5-95 were impressive at home against Illawarra, and could jump the Lions on the ladder before the end of the season. Geelong 37.11-233 def Melbourne 7.5-47 Nick Ryan was arguably best on ground with a enigmatic display that included four goals. This round‘s Rising Star, St Kilda 10.14-74 def Gold Coast 6.18-54 Jordan West was also significant in the win. The Bulldogs have shown glimpses of their best this season and have the makings of a strong side with young talented players such as Ben Woods and Hayden Nichols on their roster. Hawthorn 13.17-95 def Fremantle 6.8-44 Collingwood 25.16-166 def Essendon 14.8-92 The final match will be played on Sunday at Blacktown between Western Suburbs and Pennant Hills. The match holds special significance as the two sides will play for the Blacktown Mayoral Shield. Adelaide 16.15-111 def Port Adelaide 11.13-79 BRIS, RICH, SYD Bye Both sides suffered one-hundred-plus point losses last weekend and will be keen to show their true colours. Pen- nant Hills will be after a faster start after being held scoreless by Sydney University in the first quarter last week- end. They will look for the improvement through the young legs of Brandon Jack and Jay Lewis. The Magpies were also slow out of the blocks, only registering one first-quarter point against North Shore, in a performance that only yielded five goals for the match. Grand Final— September 20, 2014 MESSAGE FROM THE GENERAL MANAGER As another football season draws to a close, the final day of competition has arrived for AFL Sydney with Premier Division Finals here at Blacktown International Sports Park. In an extraordinary result, eight clubs will compete for the four premierships on offer, capping off another fantastic season in Sydney’s premier AFL competition. It’s been an exciting year of football for everyone, and well done to those who still remain at the business end of the season. Each year we see AFL Sydney evolve and improve, and we are committed to ensuring that the competi- tion remains a high quality league at the fore of our football community here in NSW/ACT. Our represen- tative football program was a highlight this year - which included the first ever women’s team playing under the AFL Sydney banner. Over the June long weekend both senior teams travelled to Canberra to take on AFL Canberra at Manuka which resulted in two great wins for the Sydney sides. We’ve seen six Premierships already decided for 2014; congratulations to all the clubs involved, in particu- lar to the winners of the Women’s Division 1 – Sydney University. It was a fantastic weekend of football out at Blacktown, and all the clubs who were involved should be commended for the quality of the matches and the way they were conducted. Congratulations to Blacktown (Division Five), UTS (Division Four), Randwick(Division Three) and Sydney Uni (Division Two) who claimed titles over Penrith, Wollondilly, Penrith and Blacktown respectively.
