• “Lizard Brain” (Cerebellum & Brain Stem) • “Cat Brain” (Limbic System) • “Human Brain” (Cerebrum) Our “Lizard Brain:”

• Function: – Regulate autonomic functions (blood pressure, heart rate, breathing, etc.) – Coordinate movements & reflexes – Active even when asleep/unconscious The Limbic System – Our “Cat Brain”:
• Structure: – Many small structures – Between the brain stem & the cerebrum

Our individual brains are highly malleable – they are able to adapt and “re-wire” themselves. •No two people’s brains store the same information in the same way in the same place. •We can strengthen our own ability to learn (intelligence) by building new connections •We can use alternate parts of our brains to replace areas that have been damaged • We learn best through trial and error.
