▶ Bremerhaven Offshore Wind Energy Competence Center More than just a port. presented by the BIS Bremerhaven Economic Development Company Ltd. September 2018 ▶ Maritime City Bremerhaven • Bremerhaven is the largest city on the German North Sea coast (population 119,000). • Bremerhaven is situated at the Weser River and is part of the Federal State of Bremen. • Both the past and the present of Bremerhaven as a business center are marked by its port and maritime industry (shipbuilding, engineering, steel and plant construction). Bremerhaven is Germany’s leading fish processing location. • In the last 10 years Bremerhaven has developed into a nucleus for renewable energy sources with a focus on offshore wind. - 2 - ▶ Traffic Connection Well connected ▶ Bremerhaven, located at the Weser River, is the largest city on the German North Sea coast (population 119,000). ▶ Bremerhaven is part of the Federal State of Bremen. ▶ Bremerhaven is located at the highway A 27, accessible via the Federal roads B6 and B71. As Europe´s fourth largest container port it is one of the most thriving cargo handling centres. The same applies for the car terminal. Nowhere in Europe so many cars are loaded: well over 2 million cars a year are processed here in an area covering more than two million square meters. The terminal offers a spacious area for high & heavy handling (available for components for offshore wind energy plants) as well. - 7 - ▶ Offshore Wind Energy Competence Center In best hands Bremerhaven has a long tradition as a location for service and maintenance. Numerous companies are at site to offer high quality services, e.g.: Shipping company with tugs and Ship building yard for jack-up barges, floating cranes (ENAK) repair- and equipping of serviceships Port logistics Logistics planners and service providers, e. g. vessel coordinator at “alpa ventus” Logistics service providers, e. g. Senvion Offshore consulting Steel engineering and plant Experts bureau/marine surveyor construction Steel engineering and plant Port service construction - 8 - ▶ Offshore Wind Energy Competence Center When it comes to networking Wind Energy Agency WAB ▶ Founded more than fifteen years ago, the Wind Energy Agency WAB ensures that networking is going on. ▶ The WAB has got it´s headquarter in Bremerhaven and supports it´s members with sector studies, market analyses, exhibition participations, seminars and educational tours. ▶ In addition to events organized by the WAB the BIS organize the business networking event “Windstammtisch” in Bremerhaven. ▶ www.wab.net - 9 - ▶ Industrial Sites Spacious industrial area in demand The Luneort/Luneplate industrial estate provides everything the wind energy industry needs to have: ▶ Production and assembly areas for the foundation, tower-, nacelle- and rotorblade-production as well as for storage and final assembly ▶ Traffic areas with bearing capacity and dimensions suitable for the transport of offshore components ▶ Heavy cargo terminal at the water front with sufficient water depth for sea-going ships ▶ Excellent hinterland transport infrastructure - 10 - ▶ Industrial Sites in the South of Bremerhaven - 11 - ▶ Industrial Site Luneplate Industrial Area Luneort/Luneplate – Ready to take off ▶ Free space for an immediate construction start is available in the industrial area “Luneort”. ▶ Additional industrial sites can be developed according to the requirements in the areas “Luneplate” (155 ha) and “Westlicher Fischereihafen” (100 ha). Distances Heavy - load port “Labradorhafen” at a distance of 0.5 - 2 km The motorway A27 is in approx. 3 km distance. The international airport Bremen is in 58 km distance, to the airport Nordholz 37 km distance. The train main station Bremerhaven is in approx. 6 km distance. The city center of Bremerhaven is in approx. 8 km distance. The industrial area “Fischereihafen” with its touristic highlights called “Schaufenster Fischereihafen” is in approx. 2 km distance. - 12 - ▶ Home Port for the Green Economy A sustainable business area will be developed at the Luneplate. It will enable companies in the area of green economy matching their corporate image with an ecological, resource-friendly location by using 100% renewable energy and social infrastructure in the future. - 13 - ▶ Luneplate - Our future-oriented sustainable industrial area Industrial Park Luneplate - 155 ha for the future ▶ First planning designs for the area are available. ▶ The first development steps will be implemented in 2019, after a successful execution of the planning phase. - 14 - ▶ Luneplate - Our future-oriented sustainable industrial area - 15 - ▶ Havenwelten: Offices with a View ▶ Bremerhaven has not only a good reputation as a location for production, logistics and maintenance but also as an innovative location for research and development and management. ▶ Close to the city centre, right at the inner city quays of the “Alten Hafen”und “Neuen Hafen”, attractive offices are available. ▶ Hotels, bars and restaurants, shopping malls are in walking-distance. ▶ For example the Offshore wind park planning and operating company WindMW has found attractive offices in the „Havenwelten“. - 16 - ▶ Bremerhaven 24/365!
