    FRB Order No. 2015-19 July 16, 2015 FEDERAL RESERVE SYSTEM Cathay General Bancorp Los Angeles, California Order Approving the Merger of Bank Holding Companies Cathay General Bancorp (“Cathay Bancorp”), Los Angeles, California, has requested the Board’s approval under section 3 of the Bank Holding Company Act (“BHC Act”)1 to merge with Asia Bancshares, Inc. (“Asia Bancshares”), and thereby indirectly acquire its subsidiary bank, Asia Bank, National Association (“Asia Bank”), both of Flushing, New York. Following the proposed acquisition, Asia Bank would be merged into Cathay Bancorp’s subsidiary bank, Cathay Bank, Los Angeles, a state nonmember bank.2 Notice of the proposals, affording interested persons an opportunity to submit comments, has been published (80 Federal Register 12629 (2015)).3 The time for submitting comments has expired, and the Board has considered the proposal and all comments received in light of the factors set forth in section 3 of the BHC Act.
