Acknowledgments The site of Exhibition Place has had a long tradition as a gathering place. Given its location on the water, these lands would have attracted Indigenous populations before recorded history. We acknowledge that the land occupied by Exhibition Place is the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples and is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Metis peoples. Improving Transit Service Options to Major Music Festivals
Attachment 1 For Action Improving Transit Service to Major Music Festivals Date: May 8, 2018 To: TTC Board From: Chief Operating Officer Summary The purpose of this report is to respond to the Board’s request to report on how the TTC plans and co-ordinates service to special events, including major music festivals. Recommendations It is recommended that the Board: 1. Receive the report for information; and 2. Direct staff to forward this report to Councillor Mike Layton, City of Toronto Transportation Services, Toronto Music Advisory Council, Exhibition Place, Ontario Place and Metrolinx for information. Financial Summary This report has no financial impact. The Chief Financial Officer has reviewed this report and agrees with the financial impact information. Equity/Accessibility Matters The TTC has made significant progress in providing barrier-free, accessible transit services for all customers. Presently, all TTC bus services are operated using accessible, low-floor buses. New low-floor streetcars are currently being deployed and all routes will have accessible streetcars by 2019. All subway stations will be accessible by 2025. By providing public transit services to special events the TTC encourages and supports more spontaneous trip-making, which is an important part of making the conventional system attractive to potential new customers, such as Wheel-Trans registrants who are taking advantage of the TTC’s Family of Services, and to all travellers in Toronto. This Improving Transit Service to Major Music Festivals Page 1 of 5 supports the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) objectives of more- spontaneous travel options for customers with disabilities, and the City’s Poverty Reduction Strategy of making transit more accessible and attractive to everyone. -

Transit Notice April 18, 2018 Harbourfront streetcar tunnel General maintenance Date: April 21 to April 23, 2018 Content/timeline accurate at time of printing Work description and purpose During the April 21 weekend, TTC staff will be working inside the Harbourfront streetcar tunnel to conduct rail and overhead inspections/maintenance and cleaning debris/sand along the tracks. TTC crews will be working at the Spadina/Queens Quay Loop to upgrade cables in the substation. City crews will be working in the streetcar right of way on Queens Quay to inspect underground hydro vaults. The City is also planning maintenance work on the Gardiner Expressway. Transit service changes (from 2 a.m. April 21 to 5 a.m. April 23) Temporary changes will be made to the 510/310 Spadina and 509 Harbourfront streetcar services and replacement buses will be employed to accommodate these work activities. 509 Harbourfront Replacement buses will operate over entire 509 Harbourfront route. 510/310 Spadina Streetcar 510/310 Streetcars will operate on Spadina Avenue from Spadina Station (at Bloor) to the Charlotte Loop. Some streetcars will operate to the King / Church intersection via King Street. 510/310 Spadina Buses See map for route details or visit ttc.ca for more information. 510 Spadina bus service will operate from Charlotte Loop to Spadina Loop via Bremner Boulevard and Rees Street. 310 Spadina bus service will operate from Charlotte Loop to King/Yonge intersection via Bay Street. Work hours Work will be around-the-clock to ensure the resumption of transit service on Monday morning. Efforts will be made to keep noise level to a minimum; noise will be evident when some equipment is in full operation. -

A Letter From the Chairs Hello Councillors, Welcome to the 2nd Annual Model City Hall Conference! It is our pleasure to welcome you to this year’s Economics Committee. We are looking forward to seeing the excellent debate and expert resolutions that we know you have to offer. We have both been doing Model United Nations for many years, having actively participated in several conferences while also participating in external political endeavours. We are looking forward to seeing the diverse styles of debate sure to take place in this committee. The City of Toronto is the largest in Canada. As a mecca of business, trade, tourism and academia, the city has much to offer to its residents. In lieu of recent economic crises hampering Canadian growth, Toronto continues to remain strong in its Growth. Economics has been a pressing issue for not just Torontonians, but Canada as a whole. To avert collapse in the past, and to fund multibillion dollar infrastructure projects, the City has indebted itself in the past. Many billions in loans and credit have been taken from banks and governments to account for overbudget spending. The two major issues councillors will be discussing in this committee are the issue of budget rebalancing and funds allocation, and the funding of the TTC. Both are controversial and wide issues to tackle. At current levels, the budget is not sustainable. Liberal spending is planned both in the immediate fiscal year, and the long term. Nearly 13% of funding for future projects comes from debt spending, and Toronto has yet to pay back most of its accrued debt. -

Taking Transit from Pearson International Airport to Downtown Toronto: UP Express Time 25 minutes, Pearson T1 to Union Station Cost $12.00 one way per adult (see below) Web Site www.upexpress.com The Union Pearson Express (new as of June 2015) connects Union Station in downtown Toronto with Pearson International Airport in 25 minutes, with trains running every 15 minutes from 5:30 am to 1 am. Trains have ample luggage space, free WiFi, and power ports at every seat. Getting to the train: • From the airport's Terminal 1, follow the signs for "Trains"; the train station is attached to the parking garage and is reachable without going outdoors. • From the airport's Terminal 3, follow the signs for the LINK Train to Terminal 1 (again, reachable without going outdoors). When you arrive at the Terminal 1 station, the UP Express platform is immediately adjacent to the LINK Train platform, up a small ramp. • Downtown, the train serves Union Station, within walking distance of financial-district hotels and a quick taxi ride from most others. To find UP Express within Union Station, follow the UP Express signs to the west end of the ground-floor Great Hall. The station is located with the SkyWalk, a little further west of the Tourism Information Centre. • The train also stops at Weston (near Weston Rd. and Lawrence Avenue West) and Bloor (near the Dundas West subway station -- about a 15-minute subway ride from Yonge & Bloor). MEETING DATE: JUNE 18, 2008 SUBJECT: WATERFRONT WEST LRT CONNECTION TO UNION STATION: FORT YORK-BREMNER BOULEVARD ACTION ITEM: x RECOMMENDATIONS It is recommended that the Commission: 1. approve the concept of constructing a light rail transit right-of-way alignment in the Bremner Boulevard-Fort York corridor, between Union Station and Exhibition Place, as described in this report, to serve both as the necessary connection for the future construction of the Waterfront West Light Rail Line, and as an important service to meet the needs of the rapidly- and densely-developing Railway Lands and Fort York Neighbourhood, noting that: • the Waterfront West Light Rail Line will introduce a new, dedicated transit right-of-way linking the developing areas of Mississauga, southern Etobicoke, The Queensway, Parkdale, and Exhibition Place with Toronto’s central business district and, in so doing, will remove 3 million car trips and 10 tonnes of greenhouse gases per year; • the Railway Lands and Fort York Neighbourhood, located between the Waterfront West LRT and Union Station, are being developed extremely quickly, so the need for high-capacity transit in this area has become more urgent; • the number of riders who will travel via the Waterfront West LRT in the Railway Lands-Fort York Neighbourhood area is approximately 44,800 per day, or about 13.7 million per year, which is roughly equal to the ridership on the 501 QUEEN streetcar route; • analytical and modelling work which has been
