The majority of recipes are the originals of Members of the United Kingdom Bartenders' Guild, of which I have the honour to be President, and I can assure my readers that if they will follow these recipes carefully they will be able to enjoy many drinks with which they were hitherto unacquainted. Careful observation has shown that at the majority of Cocktail parties there is little variation in the cocktails offered, and each party is apt to have a monotonous repetition of Martini, Bronx, Manhattan, and White Lady Cocktails, all, I grant, very good cocktails indeed, but just as apt to be dull as continuous dinners at which the same soup, fish, meat and sweet are served. -

Not only do they give a large selection of Cocktails, but they publish the Index to their Reference Library. At first sight this may not appear to be anything out of the ordinary, but when one realises that at last our Bartenders, who mix the correct recipes, can definitely prove this to any doubting customer, and that the duplication of names can now be avoided by reference to the Index, we all ought to be grateful for the removal of two grievances— the doubt as to the correct recipe and the duplication of titles. I wish the book every success and cordially recommend it to the boys behind the bar. He purchased the land from Sir George Ivison Tapps Lord of the Manor of Christchurch for £179 & 11 shillings. It was the "rst house in Bourne derived from a geographical reference to the li#le Bourne (burna) stream which was later to give Bournemouth its name. In the early days friends were invited to visit to relax and use the beaches. !is heralded the very beginnings of the great British seaside holiday. When the Marchioness of Exeter became the "rst tenant, the mansion house was renamed Exeter House and the road Exeter Road to commemorate her visit. !e house was purchased by Henry Newlyn in 1876 who extended the mansion and it became known as Newlyns Family Hotel. A$er numerous visits by the Royal Family it acquired its present title !e Royal Exeter Hotel. Our bar and restaurant’s name is in recognition of the massive historical impact this building has had on the town over the past two centuries. -
