He purchased the land from Sir George Ivison Tapps Lord of the Manor of Christchurch for £179 & 11 shillings. It was the "rst house in Bourne derived from a geographical reference to the li#le Bourne (burna) stream which was later to give Bournemouth its name. In the early days friends were invited to visit to relax and use the beaches. !is heralded the very beginnings of the great British seaside holiday. When the Marchioness of Exeter became the "rst tenant, the mansion house was renamed Exeter House and the road Exeter Road to commemorate her visit. !e house was purchased by Henry Newlyn in 1876 who extended the mansion and it became known as Newlyns Family Hotel. A$er numerous visits by the Royal Family it acquired its present title !e Royal Exeter Hotel. Our bar and restaurant’s name is in recognition of the massive historical impact this building has had on the town over the past two centuries. !e Management would like to thank all of its loyal customers and sta% who have helped make 1812 such a success seeing us winners and runners up for numerous awards, one of which rating us in the top four in the country. We always try to increase our standards and are open to any comments on how we can make improvements whether it is with drink, food or service all suggestions are welcome. A medium dry drink, that’s a great pre-dinner cocktail. Created by 1812’s Fabian Mash 2011 GENTLEMAN’S K1 £6.95 An elegant martini mixing Ketel 1 vodka with Lillet Blanc with a hint of pepper and a basil garnish. Tanqueray Gin with fresh mint and lime juice topped with Tonic making this a refreshing palate pleaser. TOMMY’S MARGARITA £6.75 Voted the best Margarita in the world. Originates from Tommy’s Bar in San Francisco. A more balanced Margarita with agave syrup to enhance the Tequila &avour. THE PLATE £6.75 A twist on the Chicago Fizz mixing Myers rum with port, lime juice and agave syrup. Winner of the Great Southern Shake O% 2011. Created by Kashi Forootani 2011 SCHIEDAMBLE £6.75 Our version of a Bramble using Ketel 1 Vodka citroen with lemon juice and sugar. Topped with Plymouth Sloe Gin. Created by Larry Haxby 2010 THAI GREEN MARTINI £6.75 !is drink is inspired by the traditional &avours of a !ai green curry. Using gin as a base we create a subtly spicy coconut and coriander beverage. Stolichnaya Vanilla Vodka, apple and cinnamon combined to make this long and deligh(ul strudel. Created by 1812’s Coralie Clayton 2010 ROSITA £6.95 Substituting Gin with Jose Cuervo Traditional tequila makes this twist on the Negroni even more memorable. REBUJITO £6.95 For you and Sherry lovers out there this is the drink for you. Mixing Tio Pepe Sherry with lime and lemon juice and topped with soda water. A light upli$ing drink on a summer evening. APPLE CART £6.75 A sweet take on the Side Car switching the Cognac with Calvados and adding cloudy apple juice. MORNING BREEZE £6.75 Chase Marmalade Vodka complimented by elder&ower and lemon juice creates a cocktail to rival the Breakfast Martini. Created by Eduardo Fontoura 2012 BOURBON SMASH £6.75 A very complex but delicious Bourbon Cocktail, uniting raspberries with mint infused Bu%alo Trace Bourbon, cranberry juice and bi#ers. LUSITILA £8.25 Using Don Julio Reposado and combining with port, lime, sugar and egg white, makes this a fantastically frothy but light tequila cocktail. Created by Eduardo Fontoura 2012 PASSIONATE STORM £7.25 Our twist on a Hurricane, replacing the rum for Cognac and Bourbon, keeping the traditional passion fruit and pineapple &avours. Created by the 1812 team 2012 THE BARON’S BUCK £7.00 A simple light twist on a bar tenders favourite. Whichever bar created this beautiful mixture of Tanqueray Gin, lemon juice, Cointreau and egg white, we raise our glass to you. CLOVER CLUB £6.75 Created at 1911 at the Gentlemen’s club known as the Clover Club at the Stra(ord Hotel in Philadelphia. Using fresh raspberries with Sweet and Dry Vermouth charged with Plymouth Gin and lemon juice, this is a drink for all walks of life! BLOOD & SAND £6.75 Named a$er Rudolph Valentino’s 1922 bull"ghter movie Blood & Sand. At 1812 we mix Johnnie Walker Black label with sweet Vermouth, Cherry Herring and orange juice. AVIATION £6.75 Hugo Ensslin was the creator of this great classic in 1916. A$er the success of having this drink guest appear on our Cocktails of the month page we simply had to "nd a home for it in our permanent menu. Tanqueray Gin, Maraschino liquor and lemon juice. Simple but very tasty. CLASSIC DAIQUIRI £6.50 Created by Jennings Cox in Santiago Cuba in 1898. !is is a timeless classic shaking Bacardi Superior Rum with white sugar and fresh lime juice, served neat. MARTINI £6.50 One of the world’s most well known cocktails. Here we stir either Tanqueray Gin or Ketel 1 Vodka with Vermouth to serve either Dry, Wet, Dirty or Smoky aperitif. Why not try the ultimate martini with award winning Tanqueray No. 10 or British Potato Vodka Chase.
