Press release Munich, March 22, 2007 Heinz Hermann Thiele receives Ring of Honor of the Passau District On Friday, March 23, 2007, the District of Passau in Germany is to award its Golden Ring of Honor to Heinz Hermann Thiele, Chairman of the Executive Board of Knorr- Bremse AG, in recognition of services of great merit. In the course of a ceremony at Schloss Neuburg am Inn, the Chairman of the District Council Hanns Dorfner will present this prestigious award to Mr. Thiele. Since its introduction in 1985, the Ring of Honor has been presented a total of 24 times. In line with tradition, there may be no more than 15 living recipients of the award at any one time. Announcing the decision to present the Ring of Honor to Heinz Hermann Thiele, Passau District Council emphasized in particular his services to the Aldersbach plant. Founded in 1980 as an “extended workbench” for the production of rail vehicle brake equipment, today the Aldersbach plant employs around 1,000 people and generates annual sales of EUR 650 million. In the past 10 years alone, Knorr-Bremse has invested over EUR 100 million in extensions to the Aldersbach plant and modern production technology. Through the creation of jobs in particular, the Council stated, Mr. Thiele had earned the gratitude of the District of Passau. Special mention was also made of the 20 or so openings for apprentices and trainees each year on the Aldersbach plant’s modern training schemes. Through the continuous expansion of the plant, Heinz Hermann Thiele had made a substantial contribution to the economic development of the community and the district as a whole, the Council added. Today, on an area of more than 42,000 sqm., the plant produces ABS anti-lock brakes, EBS electronic braking systems and EAC electronic air treatment systems. “I am delighted at being awarded the Ring of Honor of the Passau District,” said Heinz Hermann Thiele. “It comes in recognition of Knorr-Bremse’s long-standing commitment to the Aldersbach plant. Today, this independent factory with its own product portfolio is an important location in the international development and production network of the Commercial Vehicle Systems division.” Knorr-Bremse Group page 1 of 2... / Seite / Page 2 The Knorr-Bremse Group is the world’s leading manufacturer of braking systems for rail and commercial vehicles.
