Dear guests and friends of wine, we present you our wine list for 2021.! Just as the quality of wine improves with years, we make sure our wine list improves too. Our work and dedication were recognized by wine critics in the most prestigious wine magazines in the 2019. awarding us with couple of medals in different categories. These awards give us strength and faith in what we do and we can hardly wait to share new experiences and announce new wines in our offer for you. Listening to your wishes, following global trends and putting the emphasis on our region and Croatia as a wine country, this year we have prepared for you a large number of new labels. In addition to the famous wine regions, classic Old World such as France, Italy, Spain and others, we put an even greater emphasis on other world wine regions this year. Although less widely publicized and represented in the wine lists, they certainly deserve further attention. From Nandi Hills in India across the Galilee region in Israel, Garzón regions in Uruguay etc... in our wine list we will present many ‘new stars’. Sparkling wines from Croatia and England, Sake from Japan, the new great wines of Bordeaux and on the other hand, low-cost wines from many other countries, are all part of our wine story. With even bigger collection, this year our wine list offers some of the best, aged, Croatian wines from many different vintages. However, this year, we have gone a step further. We introduce you a whole new category of wine that was aged under the sea. During the past few years we have been tasting and collecting bottles that aged on the bottom of the Adriatic Sea. The result is unique and the wine shows again all of its beauty and proof why it was always called divine. We invite you to discover and taste how the same wine, from the same vintage, from the same producer, developed differently in the bottle… Our sommeliers will be happy to answer all your questions and we will all together make your experience unforgettable! Your Nautika Team ...our heritage... CROATIAN TRADITION Enology and viticulture in Croatia has a long tradition. They are distributed in almost all parts of the country, and wine culture is part of the traditional way of life. Although the vines on Croatian soil were presented much earlier, the oldest artifact that proves wine-growing and wine production dates back to the 5th century BC. Phoenicians and Greeks brought the fi rst cuttings of vine to the Adriatic coast. The mild climate in the area of coastal Croatia, the sea wealth, fertile land of many fi elds and bays on islands and coastal areas accounted our country to be attractive for settlement and cultivation of wines. Phoenicians as traders in Istria and then the Greeks with the establishment of ‘’policy’’ in Dalmatia such as Korkyra nigra - Black Korcula, Issa - Vis, Pharos - Hvar, are most responsible for the cultivation of vines in coastal Croatia. In the continental part of Croatia wine trade arrived several centuries later. It was partly spread by Illyrians and Thracians, but the most responsible for its spreading were the Romans. Due to the exceptional vineyard locations and excellence, wine of Pannonia, today Slavonia, competed with the best wines of the Apennine peninsula and the Old World. The name that the Romans assigned ‘’Vallis Aurea‘’ or ‘’Golden Valley‘’ indicates what kind of vineyards we are talking about. Croatia can be divided into two wine-growing regions. These are coastal and continental, with additional sub-regions that each of them has. Croatia has more than 100 different indigenous varieties, but we are faced with the disappearance of a large number of them. Nevertheless, many winemakers are turning to the revitalization and cultivation of old varieties and we will certainly support that. As this is our life, our duty and responsibility, our heritage, our tradition! LIT. ...let’s start with... Croatian Sparkling Wines Sparkling wines in Croatia are produced in almost all regions. On the one hand we have sparkling wines from moderately hilly landscapes with colder climate and on the other hand there are wines from extremely sunny continental and Mediterranean areas. More terroir ... more different sparkling wines. With a balanced sun hours and rainfalls, cooler regions certainly have more ideal conditions for sparkling wines. They are permeated with more freshness and excellent quality. In addition to the famous international or autochthonous varieties used, winemakers also use the traditional method in production.
