After dinner, transfer to hotel to check in. Overnight in Chengdu. DAY 02, CHENGDU / XINING (B/L/D) Early Breakfast, follow by check out and transfer to Chengdu Domestic Airport for your flight to Xi’ning, pearl of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau Airport and transfer to hotel. After a fresh break, we will visit Grand Dongguan Mosque, one of the biggest mosque in Northwest of China. Overnight in Xi’ning. DAY 03, XI’NING /QINGHAI LAKE / LHASA (B/L/D) After breakfast at Hotel, check out and proceed for Kumbum (Ta’er) Monastery is one of the six great monasteries of the Gelugpa sect of Tibetan Buddhism. The monastery is noted for its extraordinary art of yak butter sculpture, fresco and embroidery. Then we will experience the difference between Loess Plateau and Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, as well as between Chinese and Tibetan culture by long distance view of the well-known Ri Yue Mountain, Ri Pavilion and Yue Pavilion and DaoTang River. Another highlight of the day is famous Qinghai Lake (Koko Nor) which is the biggest inland salt lake, the largest lake in China and contains huge numbers of fish. Return Xi’ning and take the night train to Lhasa. Overnight on the train. Acclimate for the altitude. We will take the Qinghai-Tibet Train whole day to Lhasa. The route : Xi’ning / Gelmud/Tuotuo River/Amdo/Nagqu/Damxung/Lhasa. (The meals on the train will be covered by pax own expenses). After 22hours traveling, we arrive the Sunlight City Lhasa, a saint city with 1300years history. Take a good rest to acclimate for the 3650M altitude. Overnight in Lhasa. DAY 05, LHASA / POTALA PALACE/JOKHANG TEMPLE (B/L/D) After breakfast at hotel, proceed for sightseeing tour in the morning Visit Lhasa’s landmark Potala Palace, a structure that deserves a place as one of the wonders of eastern architecture. In the afternoon, visit Jokhang Temple ~One of the most important collection that must see in this temple is the 12th years old Buddha Statue, which is the dowries of Princess Wen Chen, where the statue itself is personally blessed by the Buddha himself during his time. Sit in Jokhang Temple. Surrounding area Barkhor, Lhasa’s pilgrimage circuit. This area is both the spiritual heart of Lhasa and the main commercial district for Tibetans. Overnight in Lhasa. In the afternoon, visit Sera Monastery which is famous for its “Buddhism Scriptures Debating”. Then go to Norbulingka Dalai Lama’s Summer Palace, an easy visit. Overnight in Lhasa. DAY 07, YAMDROKTSO-SHIGATSE (B/L/D) After breakfast at hotel, we will check out and proceed to explore outside Lhasa. In the morning, drive 110km to visit Yamdroktso ~ one of the three holy lakes in Tibet. It’s winding road all up to the mountain, bumpy and somewhat thrilling. After pass over the Kambala pass of 5030m, the lake finally appears. Seen from the summit of Kambala pass, the lake is a fabulous shade of deep turquoise. After down from the mountain, there’s about 30km road along lakeside, with barley fields on the other side of the road A nice walk by the lakeside can be a great joy. Leaving Yamdroktso is as arriving, since you’ll cross the 5045m Karola, with its awesome roadside views of the Nojin Kangtsang Glacier. In the afternoon, you’ ll go to Gyantse, visit Kumbum Monastery there. After that you’ll drive about two hours (100km) to Shigatse. Overnight in Shigatse.
