The species is 33 threatened by extinction in many of its original habitats (Simić et al. 2007). According to 34 IUCN Red List it is categorized as "Vulnerable" since its isolated and decrescent populations 35 are estimated to have declined by more than 30% in the past 10 years (Freyhof 2011). For example, one of the most common snake species in this area is the dice snake; nevertheless, previous studies have only reported its distribution. The aim of the present study was to analyze characteristics of the dice snake population along the Vrbanja River. Animals were processed during 2011 throughout their activity period. In total, 199 individuals of all ages were collected. We observed substantial differences in numbers of animals captured in different habitat types classified according to the level of anthropogenic influence. Unexpectedly, the largest number of snakes was captured in the zone with the highest anthropogenic influence, while the smallest number was observed in the zone with no anthropogenic pressures. The above is probably connected with the observed greater number of their most common prey, as well as the absence of raptors in areas with human impact. -

This primarily refers to the extremely mountainous and coastal regions that are recognizable mainly for ski tourism or bathing tourism. However, the regions without a recognizable "tourist identity" with an attractive natural base and many potentials, especially climate, such as Northeast Bosnia have the opportunity to develop different forms of recreational tourism (sports - recreational, excursion - recreational, health - recreational) in individual parts throughout the year. The favorability of climatic predispositions of Northeast Bosnia is highlighted by the results of analyzes which show that during the year there are neither adverse nor impossible climatic conditions for the development of different forms of recreational tourism. BREGUNICA (Riparia riparia) Factsheet Ptica godine u Hrvatskoj 2016. godine 2016 Veličine od oko 12 cm i težine samo 14 grama, bregunica (Riparia riparia) je najmanja europska lastavica. Vrlo je društvena vrsta, koja gnijezdi u kolonijama, obično u prirodnim, okomitim, pjeskovitim obalama nizinskih rijeka. Bregunica je ambasador živih i zdravih rijeka i gnijezdi u staništima poput prirodnih strmih zemljanih i pjeskovitih obala. Na rijeci Dravi još uvijek živi oko 50% hrvatske populacije bregunica, međutim broj parova se u posljednjih 30 godina smanjio za 90%. Naime, bregunica i druge vrste dravskih ptica pod velikim su pritiskom zbog nestanka staništa, u prvom redu zbog izgradnje obaloutvrda i hidroelektrana koje mijenjaju prirodnu dinamiku rijeke i onemogućuju stvaranje prirodno strmih obala. Pored očuvanja postojećih kolonija, potrebno je obnoviti i dosad uništena staništa, a potrebno je i zaustaviti regulacije te korištenje pesticida duž Bregunica je najmanja riječnog koridora rijeke Drave, koji ubijaju kukce, njihov glavni izvor lastavica u Europi. hrane. Rasprostranjenost Bregunica je rasprostranjena na području čitave Europe, sve do krajnjeg sjevera. Rasprostranjena je i na širem području Azije te Sjeverne Amerike. -

From a hydrological point of view, active caves are a series of connected conduits which drain water through an aquifer. Water tends to choose the easiest way through the system but different geological and morphological barriers act as flow restrictions. The number and characteristics of restrictions depends on the particular speleogenetic environment, which is a function of geological, geomorphological, climatological and hydrological settings. Such a variety and heterogeneity of underground systems has presented a challenge for human understanding for many centuries. Access to many underground passages, theoretical knowledge and recent methods (modeling, water pressure-resistant dataloggers, precise sensors etc.) give us the opportunity to get better insight into the hydrodynamic aspect of caves. In our work we tried to approach underground hydrodynamics from both theoretical and practical points of view. We present some theoretical background of open surface and pressurized flow in underground rivers and present results of some possible scenarios. Moreover, two case studies from the Ljubljanica river basin are presented in more detail: the cave system between Planinsko polje and Ljubljansko barje, and the cave system between Bloško polje and Cerkniško polje. The approach and methodology in each case is somewhat different, as the aims were different at the beginning of exploration. -

Croatian Waters Main Flood Protection Centre Head of Main Centre ∗ Climate change has intensified in recent years worldwide, including Croatia ∗ Extremely dry and wet periods have been alternating frequently in the last approximately 15 years ∗ Damage from extreme hydrological events is increasing ∗ “Average” or “normal” years are becoming increasingly rarer ∗ The frequency of high water waves and extreme water levels including floods is increasing ∗ There are almost no longer any rules concerning the occurrence of high water waves ∗ Forecasting climate models indicate increasingly frequent extreme climate events, both globally and locally ∗ Only in the last 15 years or so, the major part of the Croatian territory has experienced frequent extreme hydrological events which caused droughts in the years 2000, 2003, 2011 and 2012, but also floods in the years 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 ∗ Heavy damage is recorded, primarily in agriculture, but settlements, infrastructure and industrial facilities are also at risk ∗ Still, unlike in many other countries, major fatalities and disastrous damage in the urban areas have been avoided in Croatia ∗ Floods are natural phenomena which cannot be completely prevented. However, flood risks can be reduced to an acceptable level through constant development of flood
