If you haven’t paid and would like to make other arrangements, please contact the office directly.
Student Quick Pay helps parents and community members pay school-related fees safely, quickly and easily. By using Student Quick Pay, you help increase efficiency and security at schools by making payments online. The online system puts all of the school fees through the system and assigns the relevant fees to your student. Stay informed and keep track of which school fees require your attention. You are now able to register – it takes less than two minutes – by visiting www.studentquickpay.com/brsd or visiting our website at www.ryley.brsd.ab.ca and navigating your way to Quick Links then Online Payments. You will need your child’s ASN number (which can be found on your child’s statement or report card), and last name. Should you encounter any difficul- ties, please contact the office.
Refunds will be handled as outlined in AP505
Refunds
8.1 Students who registered after the commencement of the school year or semester or who transfers to another school jurisdiction prior to the end of the school year or semester will be charged or refunded student fees on a pro- rated basis.
8.2 Non-instructional fee proration shall be the lesser of the actual costs of materials not used, or
8.2.1 For semestered courses, 1/5th for each full calendar month the student will or will not attend.
8.2.2 For full-year courses, 1/10th for each full calendar month the student will or will not attend.
8.3 A Principal will issue refunds where student fees were charged for enhanced educational services and non- curricular activities when the related expenses are significantly less than anticipated. An exception may be when the fees for these types of services and activities include a portion that will be used to offset the cost of planned future expenditures.
8.4 No student fee refunds will be issued for amounts less than $10.00. Credit balances of under $10.00 can be transferred to another family member within the Division or can be left on the students account and applied to the following school year.
8.5 Refund credits on account will be applied in the following order:

Share your ideas, help shape the future
Have you received an email from the Board of Trustees? The BRSD Board is inviting all parents to share their ideas and thoughts on what’s important for stu- dent learning. On October 25 they sent a message to all BRSD parents, which included a link to an anonymous online input opportunity called Thoughtexchange.
Parents are invited to answer the question “what are the things students need most in order to receive a quality education?”
You can share as many comments, thoughts and ideas as you wish. You will also be able to see what others have posted, so if someone else has shared a thought you really agree with, you can support it too. If you did not receive the email from the Board or have deleted it by accident, you can find the link here or through our BRSD Facebook page. Staff and high school students are also being invited to share their thoughts. The survey will be open until November 15. Results will be shared by the end of January and the Board will use the information you provide to help them in making decisions for the future. The Battle River School Division Board of Trustees

Please encourage your child(ren) to wear suitable clothing and have gloves and a toque in their back pack.
Is my school bus running today? The winter months are well known for their harshness – temperatures drop, snow falls, fog sets in and sometimes school bus schedules are affected. Battle River School Division is trying to make it easier for families to know if their specific school bus is operating and if it’s running on time on those nasty winter mornings. Decisions on bus opera- tion are made before 7:00AM in order for families to make plans as early as possible. Please go to https://ryley.brsd.ab.ca/ and scroll down to Bus Status. Each bus route is listed and information will be updated before 7:00 a.m. Ryley School remains open on days the buses are not running due to inclement weather.

Friends had our first meeting on September 24 and our purpose is:
Participate in Planning providing advice on such topics as budget allocations, program priorities, and school policies. Facilitate communication by involving school community in decisions, share information with other school council, and help make changes. Welcome our new board for this year: Carrie Hrabec – President Cheryl Hellekson – Vice President Lavonne Svenson – Secretary Stacey Rude – Treasurer Sam Kumson & Krisha Ligard – Directors
FORSS will be running a FundScrip order prior to Christmas. Order gift cards for stocking stuffers, as gifts or thank you’s! There are a ton of vendors to pick from! Ordering through Ryley School helps raise funds for the students to use where most needed. Due date will be Monday, Nov 25, 2019 for PAPER and Nov 18, 2019 ONLINE. If ordering by paper please drop off cash or make a cheque payable to Friends of Ryley School Society and drop off at the school office. Better yet, register online at www.fundscrip.com and order from home before Nov 18 and then any time after that at your leisure. Use 9K6MW4 as the invitation code. Cards will be sent home with the student by Monday Dec 2, 2019.
Friends of Ryley School is hosting a school Christmas Lunch on Dec 19 at the Ryley Community Hall. It is a great school function where everyone from school; staff and students are treated to a full Christmas meal. Could you help us put it on? We are looking for volunteers to help do shopping as well as prepping and serving. Please text or call Carrie at 780-235-1329 if you can help at all.
On Oct 25 BRSD Trustees sent out a link for a quick survey they would like all parents and students for answer. It is a small survey with just one question, but it will help BRSD with future decisions for our school. The link is https://my.thoughtexchange.com/#282140409 to access this anonymous survey.
Our next meeting is November 27 at 6:30 in the Ryley School Learning Commons. We would love more parents attending and lending their voice. Things that we have to discuss are: Christmas lunch, future Casino date, school wish list.

Operation Christmas Child is a hands-on way for Canadians to help struggling children in the developing world by filling shoeboxes with toys, hygiene items, school supplies, and other items. Pamphlets have been sent home with students, and can be picked up at the office if needed. The deadline for these to be turned in is November 7, 2019.
