NOTICE EXPLICATIVE 1999 Carte Chimay-Couvin n° 57/7-8 Résumé La région couverte par la carte Chimay - Couvin fait partie de l’Ardenne sensu lato, qui est elle-même une portion de la zone rhéno-hercynienne de la chaîne varisque. Plus précisément, elle appartient à la bordure sud-ouest du Syncli- norium de Dinant. Cette région expose la coupe la plus complète du Dévonien du bord sud du Synclinorium de Dinant à savoir, une série de sédiments paléozoïques d’âge lochkovien à famennien. Trois grands épisodes sédimentaires sont reconnus : une série de sédiments terrigènes d’âge dévonien inférieur à eifelien inférieur (schistes, grès et quartzites) est séparée d’une autre série terrigène d’âge frasnien supérieur à famennien in- férieur (schiste et grès fins) par un important épisode calcaire d’âge eifelien moyen à frasnien moyen. -

STATUS OF BATS WITHIN THE WALLONIAN TERRITORY There are 20 species of bat resident in the Walloon Region. Different species find their extension limits on this territory. This fact means that the geographical position is strategic to follow the sense of the general dynamic of those species population : - to the north: Rhinolophus ferrumequinum, Rhinolophus hipposideros, Myotis emarginatus ; - to the south: Myotis dasycneme.
