For the eighth record year in a row, KTM was able to increase sales and revenue and make disproportionate gains in market shares in the major markets. At the beginning of the year, the KTM Components Group was integrated into the KTM AG Group as the most important supplier for motorcycle production in order to realize potential synergies and secure further growth. The sale of the Pankl Group in June 2018 laid the strategic and financial foundation for the Group’s even greater focus on the two-wheeler industry and further strengthened the balance sheet structure of the KTM Industries Group. The equity holding in KISKA Design was also increased to 50% in order to maintain the important role of the design studio in the future. In addition to four series start-ups in the first half of the year – the successful market launches of the first model of the medium range (2-cylinder 800 cm3) at KTM and the Husqvarna road models Vitpilen / Svartpilen – the stabilization of the supplier structure was also challenging. The business year just ended was also shaped by the introduction of an extensive efficiency program, which will be continued consistently in the coming year. The sensational successes in motorsport should also be highligh- ted. In addition to first place in the Dakar Rallye, Motocross World Championship titles and winning the American Supercross Series, the KTM MotoGPTM factory team also made impressive progress. An important step in the area of e-mobility was taken with the joint venture PEXCO, based in Schweinfurt / Germany, in the area of electric 2-wheelers. Thanks to the successful market entry with the “Husqvarna” and “Raymon” brands, PEXCO was able to generate revenue of around € 29 million with over 30,000 (electric) 2-whee- lers sold in the very first financial year of 2018. COURSE OF BUSINESS With the brands KTM, Husqvarna Motorcycles and WP, the Group ranks among the market leaders in its respective segment and was able to outperform the market in both

SPECIAL FREE ISSUE - N.444 - 27 OTTOBRE 2020 MV AGUSTA SUPERVELOCE 800 NOVITÀ NOVITÀ MOTOGP BMW KTM 890 Franco Morbidelli serie R nineT 2021 Adventure 2021 vince il GP di Teruel P.18 P.38 P.79 PROVA MV AGUSTA SUPERVELOCE 800.

  • Automotive Industry and COVID-19: End of the Road
Automotive industry and COVID-19: end of the road. The corona crisis has broken the very sophisticated supply chains in the automotive industry. Because of transport restrictions and closure of dealerships, it has almost become impossible to deliver cars to customers or for customers to order cars. Supply of components is also interrupted due to closure of plants for public health reasons (the accelerated rate of corona infections) or interrupted logistics. On top comes a general drop in demand: industrial production in the sector fell already by 12% in 2019. On the other hand, companies have announced to maintain the production of spare parts (crucial for public safety) and the R&D activities related to new powertrains. To deal with the consequences for the workers, most of the companies apply the nationally agreed conventions/rules on short-time work. COVID-19 has provoked an unprecedented crisis in the sector with an effective standstill of car production in Europe and a closed retail network. This will cause a dramatic negative demand shock. Vigorous measures will be needed to avoid plant closures and the permanent loss of jobs. Volkswagen - VW brand has suspended production at its German vehicle and component factories. VW plants in Pamplona (Spain), Setubal (Portugal) and Bratislava (Slovakia) are also closed. - Audi will stop production at its factories in Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm (Germany), Brussels, and Gyor (Hungary) by Monday, March 23 - Seat has halted its output - Skoda suspended production at its Czech plants for two weeks starting on Wednesday, March 18 - Lamborghini halted production in Italy - Porsche is stopping production for an initial period of two weeks, starting March 21 - Bentley is stopping production at its factory in Crewe, England, for four weeks starting March 21 - Due to shortage of supply from Europe, production is suspended in VW’s Russian factory in Kaluga and at the assembly line of VW’s contract manufacturer GAZ in Nizhny Novgorod PSA Group - PSA Group is closing its European factories until March 27.

Magna International, Inc Canada The Challenge of Integration into Global Supply Chains Written by Charles Gastle Founding Partner Bennett Gastle Professional Corporation, Barristers & Solicitors and Heather Gastle1 The case was developed with the cooperation of Magna International solely for educational purposes as a contribution to the project entitled ―IPR Strategies for Emerging Enterprises — Capacity Building for Successful Entry to Global Supply Chain,‖ conducted under the auspices of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC). The case is neither designed nor intended to illustrate the correct or incorrect management of the situation or issues contained in the case. Reproduction and duplication of this case for personal and educational use is encouraged. No part of this case however can be reproduced, stored, or used for purposes other than the above without the written permission of the author(s) and APEC. © 2010 APEC Secretariat 20 Canada Introduction In 2009 there was a limited number of major automobile manufacturers (OEMs) such as Ford, General Motors and Toyota, and the competition for their business was intense among the major autoparts suppliers. Innovation in the design of automotive parts and manufacturing processes was crucial to securing new contracts as automobile models changed and technology evolved. Innovation and design also played an important role in achieving the price milestones established in the contracts that existed ―at will‖ with the major OEMs, which meant that they were subject to cancellation at any time. An industry marked by constant innovation required special corporate processes to recognize an innovative idea that had value and to commercialize it. Magna International Inc. 2 (Magna) was the leading automobile parts manufacturer in North America with sales exceeding $20 billion.
