TToonnggiill GGrroouupp NNeewwsslleetttteerr Tongil Group http://www.tongilgroup.org Information: [email protected] COPYRIGHTⓒ TONGIL GROUP ALL RIGHTS RESERVED True Parents’ Recent Activities ❇ Dedication Ceremony of the Ocean Cheonjeong Palace Hotel on Geomun Island on 8.15 by the heavenly calendar (Monday, September 12) The dedication ceremony of the Ocean Cheonjeong Palace Hotel on Geomun Island began at 10:30 AM on 8.15 (by the heavenly calendar) at the newly built hotel located in Deokchon Hamlet, Samsan Village in Yeosu City, South Jeolla Province. More than three thousand people attended, including members of the American Clergy Leadership Conference (ACLC), church members, core members of the Tongil Group, chief executives of our providential organizations and corporations, ambassadors for peace, Japanese leaders, leading celebrities of the local Yeosu region, and local residents of Geomun Island. 1 / 18 The dedication ceremony proceeded in the order of 1) a tape-cutting ceremony, 2) the main event and 3) a commemorative luncheon. After the tape-cutting ceremony, True Parents personally sanctified the whole hotel, and then True Father wrote a blessing in calligraphy using the Chinese characters won, mo, pyeong and ae (an unofficial translation: harmonious mother’s peaceful love). 2 / 18 As a pioneer of ocean development who has dedicated himself to fulfilling God’s providence with his whole heart and effort, tirelessly, even during an intense storm, True Father frequently emphasized in his speech that the ocean would be a reservoir of food resources for the 6.5 billion people of the world in the 21st century. He also pioneered the marine development all over the world including Korea, Japan, the United States, the Pacific region, etc., by personally leading from the front. In order for us to develop an affinity to nature and realize its mystery and magnificence, he developed a number of marine businesses. Mr. Dong Seok Gang, the chairman of Yeosu World Expo Organizing Committee, expressed his feelings as follows: ―I’d like to offer my sincere congratulations on the completion of this hotel, built here on Geomun Island. In my opinion, because the Earth is covered by more water than land, as is evident when viewed from outer space, we should call it Haegu (Marine Globe) rather than its current Korean name Jigu (Earth Globe). I know through reading Rev. Moon’s autobiography that he has often made the point that the future vision for humankind is to be discovered in the oceans. I am deeply sympathetic with this view. In addition, being here with all the other participants from the world including American religious leaders, provided a good chance for me to realize again how deeply they respect our chairman, Rev. Sun Myung Moon. I wish him a long and healthy life as well as success and unending development in this Geomun Island hotel business.‖ Left: Congratulations by Dong Seok Gang, the chairman of the Yeosu World Expo Organizing Committee Right: Congratulations by Archbishop George Stallings of Imani Temple in United States. 3 / 18 Although the weather forecast had said from a week earlier that it would rain continuously during the whole Chuseok holiday (September 11–13), we heard another forecast at 3:00 PM on 8.13 (September 10) that Typhoon Kulap, which had taken a northerly route toward the Korean Peninsula had vanished on the way. Thus, we had fair autumnal skies above us from around noon on 8.14 (September 11), which brought us a feeling of grace that this event was concretely administrated by God and True Parents as a united sphere of Heaven’s providence. ❇ Hoondokhwe at the Ocean Cheonjeong Palace on Geomun Island on 8.16 (Tuesday, September 13) 4 / 18 More than a hundred members of ACLC participated in this hoondokhwe session, featuring a reading of the whole text of True Father’s speech at the event (in English) followed by True Father speaking to them personally. After hoondokhwe, True Parents went to sea aboard their boat, New Hope, with their son Hyung Jin Moon, the international president of the Unification Church; his wife Rev. Yeon Ah Lee, and two other daughters-in-law, Mrs. Yeon Ah Choi, vice-president of the Women’s Federation for World Peace; and Mrs. Ji Ye Park, wife of the Tongil Foundation chairman; to fish for about an hour and a half before going to Cheongjeong Palace. ❇ Hoondokhwe at the Cheongpyeong Youth Center on 8.17 (Wednesday, September, 14) – More than 170 people participated, including ACLC members from the U.S. 5 / 18 International President Hyung Jin Moon presides over an unveiling ceremony for a statue representing the Four Great Saints, the founders of four major religions The unveiling ceremony for a statue of the Four Great Saints, founders of four major religions, was held from 10:00 AM on 8.18 (September 15) in the open space in front of Cheong Bok Gung. More than four hundred people attended, including Rev. Hyung Jin Moon and Rev. Yeon Ah Lee, members of ACLC and senior Unification Church members. Representatives from the four religions (that is, Confucianism, Buddhism, Christianity and Islam) each lit a candle and gave a celebratory invocation for the sake of amicable relations and communication between adherents of the religions. 6 / 18 Rev. Hyung Jin Moon said, ―True Parents always told me to study all the world-level religions. Because all human beings are the children of one God, despite differences in religion or denomination, let’s make our best effort to reach an amicable reunion between the religions and realize world peace.‖ He introduced three main missions, that is, 1) the realization of the Holy Temple ideal for world peace and unification; 2) the establishment of the Abel UN; 3) the realization of the Cheon Il Guk model by achieving 210,000 congregants, which True Parents gave as Cheong Bok Gung’s goals. He also emphasized that we fulfill the missions so that we can become True Parents’ dutiful children by completing and consummating these providential goals in the Republic of Korea. 7 / 18 Foundation Chairman Kook Jin Moon delivers a speech at a meeting of the Korean Ambassadors for Peace Council – in the Jeolla Region Twofor meetings All Korea of the KoreaPeace Ambassadors Ambassador for Peace Council Council were– in held ChungCheongBukDo. on September 8 at the Gwangju문국진 May 이 18th Memorial Culture Center and on September 9 at the Jeonju Traditional Culture Hall. On both occasions, the chairman of the사장님 Tongil, Foundation전국 평화대사협의회 gave a speech entitled 특별강연회, ― Is the Republic 실시 of – Korea 전라지역 Strong? ‖ for the sake of heightening awareness of national security among Korean leaders and other citizens. ❇ Special lecture meeting for the Korea Ambassadors for Peace Council in Gwangju, South Jeolla Province, on Thursday, September 8 The special meeting began at 10:30 AM, at a cultural hall commemorating protests in Gwangju demanding democracy that began on May 18, 1980. More than 280 people attended, including Tongil Foundation Chairman Kook Jin Moon and his wife, President Sun Jo Hwang, Mr. Yong Il Gwan (chairman of the South Ward Assembly in the city of Gwangju) Mr. Jong Cheon Na (a member of the Gwangju City Council), Mr. Myeong Hwan Ban (chairman of the Gwangju Ambassadors for Peace Council) and Mr. Jae Jin Moon (chairman of the South Jeolla Province Ambassadors for Peace Council). 8 / 18 ❇Special meeting of the Korean Ambassadors for Peace Council in North Jeolla Province on Friday, September 9 The special meeting, which began at 10:30 AM on Friday, September 9, at the Jeonju Traditional Culture Hall, was attended by more than 230 people including the Tongil Foundation Chairman Kook Jin Moon and his wife, President Sun Jo Hwang, Mr. Han Su Kim (advisory ambassador for international relations), Seung Rae Lim (ex-chairman of the North Jeolla Province Board of Education) and Ms. Geum Sook Jo (chairwoman of the North Jeolla Ambassadors for Peace Council). Pointing out in his lecture that ―although two recent tragedies, the sinking of the ROKS Cheonan and the bombardment attack of Yeonpyeong Island in Korea, which has been divided—north and south—victimized a number of innocent soldiers and citizens, China only made a point that both sides, South Korea and North Korea, should control themselves, for the sake of having a dialogue, but did not sort out clearly which of the two was the assailant and which the aggrieved party,‖ the chairman emphasized the susceptibility of Korean national security to an attitude of China as a giant, which has emerged as the world’s second economic power. He also made the point that ―military expenditure in China increases by more than 12 percent every year to approach an annual level of U.S. $40 billion, which equals almost two thirds of the U.S. defense budget. This indicates that China’s defense expenditure may surpass that of the United States in a couple of years, when compared more realistically by converting the amounts using the Purchase Power Index.‖ The chairman concluded his presentation by appealing to the audience, ―In its history, this nation has often been caught up in war due to geopolitical reasons. As long as we live in circumstances without any convincing proof of our not being caught up war again in the future, we must make strong effort for ourselves to make this small nation of ours strong enough to avoid repeating our tragic history.‖ 9 / 18 Foundation Chairman Kook Jin Moon Visits Gwangju, South Jeolla Province and North Jeolla Province on a Speaking Tour of the Nation As part of a speaking tour of the nation, meetings took place on September 8 and 9.

In‐Depth Report Legal Dispute Over The Unification Church‐Owned Parking Lot In Yeouido, Seoul ‐ Hyun Jin Moon April 25, 2011 'Battle of the Princes' takes place in the Unification Church as a fight for 2 trillion won ensues Unification Church Foundation, "Operating company and the former chairman who violated property rights of the church members should be held responsible" Hyun Jin Moon's side (3rd son), "This lawsuit is clearly them trying to 'kill Hyun Jin Moon'" Regardless of who wins the lawsuit, damages will total in the hundreds of millions of dollars By Se Jin Kwon of Monthly Chosun [email protected] Across from the LG Twin Towers in Yeouido, Seoul, at the address of 22 Yeouido‐dong Yeongdungpo‐ku where the construction of Parc 1 is taking place, there’s a desolate feeling with the halting of the construction. A signifant contrast can be seen when compared with the SIFC building across the street, which is showing smooth progress with several stories up already. The City of Seoul reached an agreement in 2005 with an overseas financial institution to begin the construction of the SIFC on the city owned lot and designated Yeouido as a 'Global Financial Center' in February of this year. SIFC and Parc 1 function as essential landmarks of this international financial center. The 56 story SIFC and 72 story Parc 1 were destined to become the new skyscrapers of Seoul. The reason the construction stopped as of November, 2010 is the result of a dispute between the land owner and the superficiary. The original owner of the land is the “Support Foundation for the Holy Spirit Association for the Unification of World Christianity” (hereinafter referred to as the Unification Church Foundation), is the owner of this piece of land and signed a contract with Y22 Finance Investment in May of 2005, which gave Y22 a 99 year term for control over the superficies.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits. Proverbs 18:21 You get married not just for yourself, but for your spouse as well. Does that mean to say that marriage is more for your spouse than yourself? Since everything in heaven and earth is based on the principle of subject and object, for man and woman to get married is also a rule in heaven and earth. If man represents right, woman represents left, this is so that they can form a horizontal relationship in the universe. If man is subject, woman becomes his object; this forms a vertical, upper and lower relationship with God. Therefore marriage is not for the sake of just the man or just the woman. It is to conform to heavenly law. The reason man and woman are shaped differently is so they can come together according to heavenly law. CSG 1742 Greetings! At the beginning of his sermon, Hyung Jin Nim explained that we should resist the leftist media agenda to make the repugnant accusation that white people who voted for Trump are somehow responsible for the shootings in Texas and Ohio over the weekend. He showed a video made by T. Rex Arms about how to contact elected officials about changing laws. "How to Kill a Tax" shows how average citizens can initiate new legislation. This is also how we can build the Kingdom culture right here. We know that the Kingdom has to be built here on earth, with our active involvement.

Although there has been a large volume of literature exploring the determinants of low fertility in South Korea, studies on spatial variations in fertility are scarce. This study compares the Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) and Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR) models to investigate the potential role of the spatially heterogeneous response of the total fertility rate (TFR) to sociodemographic factors. The study finds that the relationships between sociodemographic factors and TFRs in South Korea vary across 252 sub-administrative areas in terms of both magnitude and direction. This study therefore demonstrates the value of using spatial analysis for providing evidence-based local-population policy options in pursuit of a fertility rebound in South Korea. Keywords: low fertility; spatial analysis; GIS; regional fertility differentials; total fertility rate 1. Williams Analyst in International Trade and Finance Jonathan R. Corrado Research Associate May 23, 2017 Congressional Research Service 7-5700 www.crs.gov R41481 U.S.-South Korea Relations Summary Overview South Korea (officially the Republic of Korea, or ROK) is one of the United States’ most important strategic and economic partners in Asia. Congressional interest in South Korea is driven by both security and trade interests. Since the early 1950s, the U.S.-ROK Mutual Defense Treaty commits the United States to help South Korea defend itself. Approximately 28,500 U.S. troops are based in the ROK, which is included under the U.S. “nuclear umbrella.” Washington and Seoul cooperate in addressing the challenges posed by North Korea. The two countries’ economies are joined by the Korea-U.S. Free Trade Agreement (KORUS FTA). South Korea is the United States’ seventh-largest trading partner and the United States is South Korea’s second- largest trading partner. Between 2009 and the end of 2016, relations between the two countries arguably reached their most robust state in decades. Political changes in both countries in 2017, however, have generated uncertainty about the state of the relationship. Coordination of North Korea Policy Dealing with North Korea is the dominant strategic concern of the relationship. The Trump Administration appears to have raised North Korea’s nuclear and missile programs to a top U.S.

The law of your mouth is better to me than thousands of gold and silver pieces. Psalm 119:72 In the beginning of history, Eve fell because she did not become one with God. If she had obeyed God's commandment, even at the cost of her life, and walked the road of death gladly, the fall would not have occurred. Accordingly, today Unification Church women should pledge their lives, hold on to God, and march forward. SMM, Blessing and Ideal Family, Chapter 5: "The Formula Course for Perfection" Greetings! In Sunday's Service Hyung Jin Nim praised Pennsylvania state representative Stephanie Borowicz who prayed in the name of Jesus at the Capitol in Harrisburg. Leftists hate the name of Jesus because he represents a different Kingdom, that cannot be controlled. Wickedness must be punished or there is no justice. God is greater than those tyrannies. We carry (firearms) to defend life, not for boasting, but for saving lives. Christ brings freedom and responsibility, not socialism. Globalists fear that if the Rod of Iron Kingdom culture spreads, it could challenge their control, which is true, but we are also law-abiding and restrained. Rev. Hyung Jin Moon, March 31, 2019 Sanctuary Service, Newfoundland, PA The Book of Nahum describes God's judgment of the brutal and powerful Assyrian empire in 600 BC. The Assyrians would massacre people, even skinning people alive. Their prosperity was attractive to the Israelites, tempting them to also worship the Assyrian gods. In the Bible the chosen people repeatedly rejected God and were judged for it, but also given more chances for redemption.

Based on Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change methodology, VESTAP can be used to evaluate Korea’s vulnerability to major climate impacts (including 32 conditions in 8 categories). VESTAP is based on RCP 4.5/8.5 scenarios and can provide evaluation results in 10-year intervals from the 2010s to 2040s. In addition, this paper presents the results of a case study using VESTAP for targeted assessment of health vulnerability to heat waves under the RCP 8.5 scenario for the 2040s. Through vulnerability assessment at the province level in South Korea, Daegu Metropolitan City was identified as the most vulnerable region. The municipality and submunicipality levels of Daegu were also assessed in separate stages. The results indicated that Pyeongni 3-Dong in Seo-Gu was most vulnerable.

The top 10 largest chaebols, South Korea’s multinational conglomerates, account for 44 percent of GDP. Exports are about 40 percent of GDP, a quarter of which are sent to China. The capital area - Seoul, Incheon, and Gyeonggi province - IMl contributes nearly 50 percent of GDP. Overcoming these structural dependencies is at the core of South Korean President Moon Jae-in’s economic Busan, South Korea agenda. While Moon has not yet been able to push through promised chaebol reform, his domestic Image Credit: Pixabay economic policies have largely intended to create new non-chaebol jobs. His New Southern Policy is an effort to diversify South Korean exports by driving demand in India and Southeast Asia. Moon’s Minjoo Party is also looking to further past efforts to generate new sources of economic growth outside of the capital area through newly built innovation cities. However, they continue to face the same problem of attracting people to these newly developed areas. Alongside the new administrative capital of Sejong, innovation cities were born out of a 2005 Roh Moo-hyun government plan to foster more equitable national growth.

  • Republic of Korea 2018 International Religious Freedom Report
REPUBLIC OF KOREA 2018 INTERNATIONAL RELIGIOUS FREEDOM REPORT Executive Summary The constitution provides for religious freedom and prohibits discrimination based on religion. On June 28, the Constitutional Court overturned its previous 2004 and 2011 rulings and found unconstitutional a provision of the law that calls for up to three years in prison for those who refuse to serve in the military without “justifiable” reasons, arguing that it failed to provide alternative service options for conscientious objectors. The ruling required the government to amend the law by December 31, 2019 to provide alternative service options for conscientious objectors. On November 1, the Supreme Court ruled “conscience or religious beliefs” a justifiable reason for refusing mandatory military service, while overturning a lower court ruling in which a Jehovah’s Witness was sentenced to 18 months in prison. On November 30, press reported the government decided to release on parole 58 conscientious objectors who had been imprisoned prior to the Supreme Court ruling. According to Watchtower International, a Jehovah’s Witnesses-affiliated nongovernmental organization (NGO), 57 conscientious objectors were released on parole and eight Jehovah’s Witnesses remained in prison as of December for conscientious objection to military service, down from 277 the previous year. It also reported 938 pending such cases in the courts as of December including 89 cases in the Supreme Court and 37 cases under investigation. The number of conscientious objectors on trial was the highest in 11 years, while the number of conscientious objectors in prison was the lowest in 11 years, according to the NGO. In December the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) granted temporary one-year humanitarian permits to 412 of 500-plus Yemenis, most or all of whom were Muslim, who applied for asylum after entering Jeju Province on a visa-free program.

They were not to be dragged around and made to obey. Your mind, a liberated mind is like that. No one wants to be controlled. This is equally true for everybody.
