Türkiye'de 1980 Sonrasında Bir Altkültür Grubu Olarak Punk'ın ÖZET TÜRKİYE’DE 1980 SONRASINDA BİR ALTKÜLTÜR GRUBU OLARAK PUNK’IN OLUŞUMU Nazlı Deniz BAYRAKTAROĞLU Süleyman Demirel Üniversitesi, Sosyoloji Bölümü, Yüksek Lisans Tezi, 215 sayfa, Haziran 2011 Danışman: Yrd. Dr. Cevdet YILMAZ Bu tezin amacı, Türkiye’de 1980 ve sonrasında bir altkültür olarak punk’ın oluşumunu incelemektir. 1980 sonrası bir gençlik altkültürü olarak Punk’ı incelemek ve oluşumuna dikkat çekmek çalışmanın temel çıkış noktasıdır. Çalışmada Amerika Birleşik Devletleri, İngiltere ve Türkiye’de punk altkültürünü oluşturan koşulların temel toplumsal dinamiklerle ilişkisi incelenmiştir. Bu bağlamda çalışma iki aşamalı bir tarihsel ve kuramsal çerçeveden oluşmaktadır. Çalışmada öncelikle altkültür kavramının sosyolojik anlamı ele alınmış, daha sonra ise punk altkültürü Amerika, İngiltere ve Türkiye örneklerinde tarihsel olarak incelenmiştir. Çalışmanın örneklem grubu İstanbul’da yaşayan ve punk müzik dinleyen on kişi ve Rashit gurubudur. Görüşmecilerle yarı yapılandırılmış bir görüşme formu aracılığıyla bilgi toplanmıştır. Toplanan bilgiler her bir görüşmeci için birer yaşam öyküsü haline getirilerek İçerik Çözümlemesi tekniğine en yakın tekniklerden birisi olarak kabul edilen, Kategorik İçerik Perspektifi yöntemiyle analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma’nın bulgularına göre; Türkiye’de punk altkültürü, 1980 sonrası ortaya çıkan kültürel iklimin bir sonucudur. Buna göre kendisini punk olarak tanımlayan gençler mevcut toplumsal kurumlara karşı bir güvensizlik ve nefret kültürü taşımakta, bu kurumların işlevi ve varlığı konusunda eleştirel bir dili kullanmaktadırlar. Bu bağlamda kendileri gibi düşünen akran gruplarıyla punk müzik yapılan mekanlarda bir araya gelmekte ve genellikle siyaset, din, devlet ve aile gibi toplumsal kurumları alabildiğince eleştirmektedirler. Ayrıca kendi altkültür kimliklerini benzetildiklerini düşündükleri Rock kültüründen ayrıksı bir dille tanımlamakta, özellikle müzikal öğeler ve imaj konusunda farklılaştıklarını savunmaktadırlar. Prof. Dr. Cevdet YILMAZ The objective of this thesis is to analyze the formation of punk in Turkey after the 1980’s as a subculture. The starting point of the thesis is to examine punk as a subculture of the youth in Turkey after the 1980’s. The relation between the circumstances leading to a punk subculture and social dynamics in the USA, Britain and Turkey has been examined in the thesis. In this regard, the study is composed of a two tiered structure relating to a historical and a theoretical framework. To this end, punk culture has first been examined in a sociological view and then handled in the examples of the USA, Britain and Turkey. The sample group is composed of ten persons living in Istanbul and a group called Rashid that enjoy punk music. A semi-structured questionnaire was used to gather data. Data was transformed into a life story for each interviewer and analyzed with categorical content perspective which is defined as one of the close methods to content analysis. Results of the analysis reveals that punk subculture in Turkey is an outcome of the cultural environment after the 1980’s. The young identifying themselves as punk have a culture of mistrust and hatred towards social institutions and criticize their existence and functioning. They meet with fellows in places where punk music is played and usually criticize social institutions as politics, religion, state and family. Besides, they identify themselves as different from rock culture which is considered as a similar subculture.
