    ÖZET TÜRKİYE’DE 1980 SONRASINDA BİR ALTKÜLTÜR GRUBU OLARAK PUNK’IN OLUŞUMU Nazlı Deniz BAYRAKTAROĞLU Süleyman Demirel Üniversitesi, Sosyoloji Bölümü, Yüksek Lisans Tezi, 215 sayfa, Haziran 2011 Danışman: Yrd. Doç. Dr. Cevdet YILMAZ Bu tezin amacı, Türkiye’de 1980 ve sonrasında bir altkültür olarak punk’ın oluşumunu incelemektir. 1980 sonrası bir gençlik altkültürü olarak Punk’ı incelemek ve oluşumuna dikkat çekmek çalışmanın temel çıkış noktasıdır. Çalışmada Amerika Birleşik Devletleri, İngiltere ve Türkiye’de punk altkültürünü oluşturan koşulların temel toplumsal dinamiklerle ilişkisi incelenmiştir. Bu bağlamda çalışma iki aşamalı bir tarihsel ve kuramsal çerçeveden oluşmaktadır. Çalışmada öncelikle altkültür kavramının sosyolojik anlamı ele alınmış, daha sonra ise punk altkültürü Amerika, İngiltere ve Türkiye örneklerinde tarihsel olarak incelenmiştir. Çalışmanın örneklem grubu İstanbul’da yaşayan ve punk müzik dinleyen on kişi ve Rashit gurubudur. Görüşmecilerle yarı yapılandırılmış bir görüşme formu aracılığıyla bilgi toplanmıştır. Toplanan bilgiler her bir görüşmeci için birer yaşam öyküsü haline getirilerek İçerik Çözümlemesi tekniğine en yakın tekniklerden birisi olarak kabul edilen, Kategorik İçerik Perspektifi yöntemiyle analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma’nın bulgularına göre; Türkiye’de punk altkültürü, 1980 sonrası ortaya çıkan kültürel iklimin bir sonucudur. Keith Negus examines the contrasting strategies of major labels like Sony and Universal in managing different genres, artists and staff, and assesses the various myths of corporate cul- ture. How do takeovers affect the treatment of artists? Why was Poly- Gram perceived as too European to attract US artists? Why and how did EMI Records attempt to change their corporate culture? Through a study of three major genres—rap, country and salsa—Negus investigates why the music industry recognises and rewards certain sounds, and how this influences both the creativity of musicians and their audiences. It is difficult to define precisely what features distinguish guitars from other members of the lute family, because the name ‘guitar’ has been applied to instruments exhibiting a wide variation in morphology and performing practice. The modern classical guitar has six strings, a wooden resonating chamber with incurved sidewalls and a flat back. Although its earlier history includes periods of neglect as far as art music is concerned, it has always been an instrument of popular appeal, and has become an internationally established concert instrument endowed with an increasing repertory. In the Hornbostel and Sachs classification system the guitar is a ‘composite chordophone’ of the lute type (seeLUTE, §1, andCHORDOPHONE). 1. Structure of the modern guitar. Fig.1 shows the parts of the modern classical guitar. In instruments of the highest quality these have traditionally been made of carefully selected woods: the back and sidewalls of Brazilian rosewood, the neck cedar and the fingerboard ebony; the face or table, acoustically the most important part of the instrument, is of spruce, selected for its resilience, resonance and grain (closeness of grain is considered important, and a good table will have a grain count about 5 or 6 per cm). The table and back are each composed of two symmetrical sections, as is the total circumference of the sidewalls.

Faulhaber A Thesis Submitted to the Graduate College of Bowling Green State University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of MASTER OF ARTS December 2008 Committee: Kimberly Coates, Advisor Robert Sloane ii ABSTRACT Kimberly Coates, Advisor Icelandic pop star Björk has spent her career breaking down boundaries, blurring lines, and complicating binaries between perceived opposites. Examining a variety of both primary and secondary sources, this study looks at the ways that Björk challenges the binary constructions of “high” and “low” art, nature and technology, and feminism and traditional femininity, and also proposes that her uniquely postmodern approach to blurring boundaries can be a model for a better society in general. This study contends that Björk serves as a symbol of what might be possible if humans stopped constructing boundaries between everything from musical styles to national borders, and as a model for how people can focus on their commonalities while still respecting the freedom of individual expression.
