NORRIE, Governor-General ORDER IN COUNCIL At the Government House at Wellington this 26th day of October 1955 Present: HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL PURSUANT to the Licensing Trusts Act 1949, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order. ORDER 1. This order may be cited as the Clutha Licensing Trust Order 1955. 2. The area described in the First Schedule hereto is hereby declared to be a licensing Trust district, to be called the Clutha Licensing Trust district (in this order referred to as the Trust district), for the purposes of Part I of the Licensing Trusts Act 1949. 3. There is hereby constituted for the Trust district a Licensing Trust to be called the Clutha Licensing Trust (in this order referred to as the Trust) . 4. For the purposes of elections of members of the Trust, the Trust district is hereby divided into six wards, being the wards described in the Second Schedule hereto. 5. The Trust shall consist of nine elective members, of whom three shall be elected for Ward 1 described in the Second Schedule hereto, two shall be elected for Ward 2 described in that Schedule, and one shall be elected for each of the other wards described in that Schedule. 6. The terms of office of five of the members of the Trust to be elected at the first election of members shall expire, in accordance with section 5 of the Licensing Trusts Act 1949, on the day appointed for the second election of members pursuant to that Act. 7. At any meeting of the Trust four members shall form a quorum. 1955/186 Clutha Licensing Trust Order 1955 681 SCHEDULES FIRST SCHEDULE CLUTHA LICENSING TRUST DISTRICT ALL that area bounded by a line commencing at the south-eastern corner of Section 5, Block XI, Crookston Survey District; thence easterly generally along the north-western and western boundaries of Block XIX and the southern boundaries of Blocks XVI and I, Crookston Survey District, to the Clutha River; thence down the Clutha River to the southern boundary of Section 33, Block IV, Tuapeka West Survey District; thence again easterly along the southern boundary of the said Section 33 and the southern boundary of Section 34, to and along the road forming the south-eastern boundary of the said Section 34 and the southern and south-eastern boundaries of Section 1, all of Block IV, aforesaid, the southern boundaries of Sections 21, 11, 9, and 8, Block I, Tuapeka West Survey District, the generally southern boundaries of Sections 36, 37, 38, 33, 32, 31, 30, 29, 28, and 27, Block II, Tuapeka West Survey District, Section 22, Block III, Tuapeka West Survey District, the generally eastern boundaries of Section 22 aforesaid, Sections 21, 20, 31, 30, and 34, Block III, aforesaid, to Bowlers Creek; thence down Bowlers Creek to and up the Tuapeka River to the southern boundary of Run 494; thence along the southern, western, and again southern boundaries of Run 494 to and along the northern boundaries of Blocks XIX and X, Tuapeka East Survey District, to the western boundary of Section 51, Block X, aforesaid; thence along the generally western and southern boundaries of the said Section 51 and the generally southern boundaries of Sections 58, 57, and 56, Block X, aforesaid, to Trig. Station L; thence northerly along the eastern boundaries of Blocks X and XIII, Tuapeka East Survey District, to Waipori Road; thence easterly along that road to the south-western boundary of Run 51; thence north-westerly along that boundary to the Waipori River; thence up that river and Deep Creek to the summit of Lammerlaw Range; thence easterly generally along the summit of that range to and down Lee Creek to a point in line with the eastern boundary of Block III, Waipori Survey District; thence to and along that boundary, the eastern, southern, and again eastern boundaries of Block VI, the eastern boundaries of Blocks VIII and X, all of Waipori Survey District, and the production of the last-mentioned boundary to the middle of the Waipori River; thence down the middle of that river to Waipori Lake; thence along the south-eastern and southern shores of that lake to the south-western boundary of Block VI, Maungatua Survey District; thence along that boundary to and down the middle of the Taieri River to its mouth; thence south-westerly to and along the sea-coast to the mouth of the Tahakopa River; thence bounded towards the west generally by the said Tahakopa River to its confluence with Mary Burn; thence by a right line to the summit of the watershed at Bleak Hill in Block VI, Mokoreta Survey District; thence by the summit of the said watershed over Chim­ ney to Catlin's Cone, Block II, Rimu Survey District; thence by a right line in the direction of the source of the Waipahi River till it meets the south-western boundary line of Run 258; thence by the south-western boundary line of the said Run 258 to the Wyndham or Mokoreta River; thence by that river to a point in line with the south-western boundary line of Section 5, Block VII, Slopedown Survey District; thence by a 682 Clutha Licensing Trust Order 1955 1955/186 FIRST SCHEDULE-continued right line to and along the south-western boundary line of the said Section 5 and its production to the south-eastern boundary of Run 251 in the said Block VII; thence by the south-eastern and eastern boundaries of the said Run 251, to and along the south-eastern and eastern bound­ aries of Section 2, Block VI, of the said Slopedown Survey District, to and along the road forming the southern and western boundaries of Section 15, Block I, to and along the road forming the western boundaries of Sections 14, 7, and 6 of the said Block I, to and along the road forming the northern boundaries of Sections 6 and 4, Block II, to and along the road fonning the eastern boundary of Section 1 of the aforesaid Block II, all of the aforesaid Slopedown Survey District, to the Main South Road, by that road to and along the road forming the eastern boundary of Section 23, Block XII, Waipahi Survey District, to and along the eastern boundary of Section 24 of the said Block XII, Waipahi Survey District, to the Waipahi River; thence by that river to the north-western comer of Section 14, Block XVI, Waipahi Survey District; thence easterly by the road intersecting Allotments 6, 2, 5, and 3 of the Waipahi Estate to the south-western comer of Section 6, Block VI, Waipahi Survey District; thence by the western and northern boundaries of that section, to and along the railway line, to and along the Waipahi River to its confluence with the Pomahaka River; thence by that river to its confluence with the Rankleburn; thence by the Rankleburn to a point in line with the eastern boundary of Block X, Crookston Survey District; thence by a right line to the south-eastern corner of the said Block X; thence by the said eastern boundary of that block and the eastern boundary of Block XI to the south-eastern corner of Section 5, Block XI aforesaid, the point of commencement. There were no waders at Aramoana and large areas of mud flats at Hoopers Inlet were occupied by feeding birds; all rather difficult to count accurately. But the results was very good with all areas surveyed by plenty of counters. Many thanks to all for this very good wader count. Peter Schweigman Better late than never. Apologies ed. 2 Ornithological snippets 5 Chukor were seen & photographed at Ben Lomond on 5th March by Trevor Sleight. A pair of Indian Peafowl of unknown origin put in an appearance near Lake Waihola on 15th March. A moulting Erect-crested Penguin was seen at Jacks Bay (Catlins) on 18th Feb, while another crested penguin was at Anderson’s Lagoon (Palmerston) by Paul Smaill on 2nd March.

[email protected] 03 4640787 Regional Recorder: Jim Wilson PO Box 6145, Dunedin 9059 [email protected] Otago Region Newsletter 5/2016 May 2016 Lagoon bird watching in Wild Dunedin A white heron at Tomahawk Lagoon was the star attraction for twelve visitors to a Birds New Zealand event in the Wild Dunedin festival on 24 April 2016. 2 Starting early from an empty car park, four of us checked who was wading, swimming, diving, flying, eating, calling, sleeping, and standing around. Encouraged by seeing most of those behaviours entirely from birds, even after a full moon over everyone, we got busy. New birders kept us busy over two hours of watching and enquiring. Bird watchers ranged from nine years old to retired couples, and focus adjustments on our three telescopes and shared binoculars soon warmed up. The diversity of watchers caused frequent height adjustments for scope tripods and ornithologists' legs. The white heron stalked nearby shallows, with intent pauses before stabbing down at prey. Most times it got a fish, thrilling people watching through scopes, as the heron's dagger bill held the struggling fish flicking water droplets around before gulping it down. Watchers' reactions varied from wordless sudden gasps of excitement for the heron and shock at the fishes' sudden end, to exclamations of: "Oh ! it got one ! it got a fish ! Hey, see that ...!" Prey fish were native bullies, Gobiomorphus. Bullies, common in the lagoon, are also eaten by kingfishers and shags; and by trout, perch and eels.

    6. SCHEDULES SCHEDULE 6.1 RESERVE AND CONSERVATION LAND The reserves and areas of conservation land listed here are held under either the Conservation Act, the Reserves Act or some other Act for conservation purposes and are identified (rather than designated) as green on the Planning Maps. Section 3.5 Heritage and Rule RRA.13 applies to these areas. Where reserve or conservation area status is revoked the underlying Resource Area noted in the schedule applies. The schedule attempts to identify conservation areas and all reserves and the status of those reserves within the District as existed at the 1 December 1995. Not all of the Districts reserves may be shown on the planning maps. Note: Land described as “Conservation Park”, “Stewardship” “Covenant” or “State Forest Park” is land held for conservation purposes under the Conservation Act 1987 or some other similar Act concerned with the conservation of natural and physical resources. “Stewardship” area is defined by the Conservation Act 1987 as follows; “means a conservation area that is not: (a) A marginal strip; or (b) A watercourse area; or (c) Land held under the Conservation Act for one or more of the purposes described in section 18(1) of the Conservation Act; or (d) Land in respect of which an interest is held under this Act for one or more of the purposes described in section 18(1) of the Conservation Act. “Conservation Area” means any land or foreshore that is: (a) Land or foreshore for the time being held under the Conservation Act for conservation purposes; or (b) Land in respect of which an interest is held under Conservation Act for conservation purposes.
