The installation of the DSL'ACI systems will be used in conjunction with existing control technologies to meet the requirements of 40 CFR 63, Subpart UUUUU and National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutant: Coal and Oil Fired Electric Utility Steam Generating Units (Mercury and Air Toxics Standard-MATS). The proposed DSI and ACI systems are intended to reduce the emissions of acid gases (hydrogen chloride and hydrogen fluoride) and mercury, and are anticipated to also reduce emissions of sulfur dioxide and sulfuric acid mist.
