Kuiken Dissertation Advisor - James E. Cronin Dissertation Abstract This dissertation examines British oil policy from the aftermath of the Suez Crisis in 1956-1957 until the Iranian Revolution and the electoral victory of Margaret Thatcher’s Conservative Party in 1979. It was a period marked by major transitions within Britain’s oil policy as well as broader changes within the international oil market. It argues that the story of Britain, and Britain’s two domestically-based oil companies, BP and Shell, offers a valuable case study in the development of competing ideas about the reorganization of the international oil industry in the wake of the rise of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting countries and the companies’ losing control over the production of oil. -

The authors do not make any representation or warranty, expressed or implied, as to the accuracy or completeness of the report. There is considerable uncertainty around the development of oil markets, CCS technology, and CO2-EOR specifically. The available data and models on sources and sinks are extremely limited and the analysis is therefore based on purely hypothetical scenarios. A History of Royal Dutch Shell Vol 1C
Royal Dutch Shell and the Nazis By John Donovan In the "Fortune Global 500 Ranking by Revenue 2010", Royal Dutch Shell Pic is ranked as the second largest company in the world, after Wal-Mart Stores. Many people know something about the oil giants' controversial track record in Nigeria. It includes decades long plunder and pollution, with involvement in espionage, corruption, torture, murder, and other human rights abuses. Some people are aware of Shell's unscrupulous dealings with despotic regimes in Iraq, Iran, and Libya. Shell deliberately disguised shipping movements of Iraqi and Iranian oil during UN sanctions. Very few people have any inkling of Shell's pivotal support for Hitler and the Nazi Party. Basically, Shell saved the Nazi Party when it was in danger of financial collapse and continued, for over a decade, to pump funds into the Nazi project. As a consequence, Shell was arguably indirectly responsible for over 30 million deaths in World War 2. I have already published a series of articles on this explosive subject, the most recent major article under the headline: "Royal Dutch Shell Nazi Secrets" The Dutch oil baron Sir Henri Deterding drove Shell's support for the Nazis. He was the dictatorial founder of Royal Dutch Shell publicly described as the "Napoleon of Petroleum" and "The Most Powerful Man in the World". Sir Henri was infatuated with Hitler and the Nazis. An official account of the history of the oil giant - "A History of Royal Dutch Shell" - authored by eminent historians associated with Utrecht University, provided invaluable information during my research. -

A Personal Journey Presentation by Tony Craven Walker to Scottish Oil Club – Edinburgh 16 May 2019
FIFTY YEARS IN THE NORTH SEA: A PERSONAL JOURNEY PRESENTATION BY TONY CRAVEN WALKER TO SCOTTISH OIL CLUB – EDINBURGH 16 MAY 2019 Ladies and Gentlemen. I am delighted to be here today. As we are in Scotland, the home of whisky, I was tempted to call this talk “Tony Walker – Started 1965 - Still Going Strong”. Then I read about Algy Cluff’s retirement last week described as “The Last Man Standing” so I was tempted to call it “The Last Man Still Standing”. But I decided on FIFTY YEARS IN THE NORTH SEA: A PERSONAL JOURNEY. With around one hour allotted that works out at around one year per minute so I had better get a move on! Actually it has been 54 years since I joined the oil industry but what a journey it has been. One which is not over just yet as far as I am concerned and one which has given me great challenges and great pleasure. Before diving into things I thought it might be fun to mention that Anton Ziolkowski, your President, and I go back way into the 1950’s when we were neighbours living next door to each other as small boys in London. It is curious and always amazing how the world works to find that we are in the same industry and he has invited me to speak today. I will keep to myself some of the pranks that Anton and I got up to as youngsters, “tin-can tommy” and “mud-ball sling” spring to mind, as I certainly don’t want to embarrass your president. -

They were an expression of the idea that economic power has attained peculi- arities which we otherwise used to connect only with the political state .... Economic states which are not restricted by national boundaries will try to repress the national state as an economic factor so that they have absolute power in their hands."! The Nazi economist, Dr. Fritz Werr,2 extensively quoted A. Marcus as his authority on "the economic state". He par- ticularly referred' to the great oil powers, the Standard Oil Company of New Jersey3 and Royal Dutch Shell-companies with world-wide interests and great financial stakes in many countries 'where they constituted first-rate political factors. "The agreements bet,:"een the big oil companies, in particular, show that any law of the state becomes meaningless for them, and that all forms of jurisdiction of the national state are done away with .... Most treaties are 'gentlemen's agreements', and if one party abrogates such a contract or does not fulfil his obligations, the other party does not insist upon rights or laws accorded him by the legislation of a national state. He brings forth, instead, considerations of 'fairness' .... This refers not only to agreements between the oil trusts themselves, but to an even greater extent to agreement between these trusts and (national) states."4 The rise of the totalitarian state inevitably resulted in a decline of private world empires.
