We established our Tourist Association in 2009 with the objective of developing our products and services to consciously preserve the cultural values of Kaposvár and protect the natural heritage of Zselic. Somogy County and its capital, Kapos- vár are located amongst the hills of Southern Transdanubia, between River Dráva and Lake Balaton. The city is built on seven hills between River Kapos and the Zselic hills and its history goes back to the start up of Hungary. Kaposvár is a human city, easy to love and to live in. A place that inhabitants enjoy and this feeling is taken over by the tourists. The great atmosphere is provided by the nice and tidy environment, the ﬂowers, the fountains, and many statues. Those visiting Kaposvár between spring and fall ﬁnd the city in full bloom and also Kaposvár, Kossuth Square can always join a festival or great event. The city trustworthily preserves the memory of its famous painter, József Rippl-Rónai in culture and in its museums. Szenna Szenna is a pure settlement in Zselic, 8 km-s from Kaposvár. Its main treasure is the ethnographic collection, awarded with Europa Nostra Award in 1982, the only place in Hungary where such collection is created in a real, living village. The purpose of the collection is to preserve and display memories of folk architecture in timber framed style, which remained in Somogy until today, Szenna, Calvinist church to future generations. The village is located in a valley bordered by the forests of Zselic, where several families created bed&breakfast facilities for visitors. 3 Patca

Patca is the second smallest village in County Somogy. It is located 12 km-s to southwest from Kaposvár bordering the Zselic District Protected Area. Although the number of residents is only 60, the village has a rich library, reading room, cable TV and broadband Patca from the air internet connnection. In 2010, the village has won the Village Renewal Award of the Ministry of Rural Development. Patca gives home to Katica Tanya (Ladybug Farm) – Active Recreation and Leisure Centre. Also, the South-Transdaniubian Blue Hike route crosses the village. There are multiple streams at the bottom of the forests and slopes surrounding the village and their cooling water is collected by Creek Csörge. This creek feeds the small Lake Katica in the outskirts of Patca. Katica Tanya welcomes its visitors with a unique portfolio of leisure activities – dozens of indoor and outdoor play areas, show farm, medieval fortress, the intimate Lake Katica and accommodations with 140 beds. Juta

The village is situated only 6 km-s away, in the direct neighbourhood of Kaposvár city. The village is thought to be settled already since late 9th century, although the first official certificate is dated from 1284. The village inaugurated its own flag and heraldic design. Everyday life of villagers is defined by the vicinity of Kaposvár. It’s an Mayor’s office ideal place to live for people with preference for tranquillity, or village lifestyle. 4 Museum of Rippl-Rónai

The Museum of Rippl-Rónai is preserving and conveying cultural, scientiﬁc and artistic values of Kaposvár and Somogy County. It’s operated in the centre of the city in a historic building in classicistic style. The basis for the exhibitions is the classiﬁcation of specialities engaged in the research and collection work (natural science, archaeological, modern historical, ethnographical, history of art). Memorial House of Rippl-Rónai

The Villa Roma, sight of Kaposvár is famous across Europe. It used to be József Rippl-Rónai`s home. Each corner of the Museum as well as the connecting atelier is preserving the heritage and spirituality of the big artist. Modern Community Centre The community centre –previously known as the junior centre – is one of the most important cultural institutions in the city, where visitors are welcome to join various activities. The institute is housed by the AGORA building constructed in 2011 and satisfying all needs of today’s environment. The centre organizes the following festivals and events: the Kaposvár Carnival and Dorottya Days, the City of Painters – Festival Somogy Folkdance Group of Ambiance, the Theatre Nights in Summer and the Kaposvár Advent – Christmas Holiday Weeks. Our Waters

The river Kapos – which also gave the city its name – is not only dividing the settlement but also attaches it to the slopes of Zselic. Its water was once protecting the fortress of Kaposvár, today it serves as a fishing place in the floodplain of the regulated river- bed. On the northern bank of the river, we find one of Kaposvár’s great places: the Flower Spa, with its waterpark having the largest water surface in one piece in Transdanubia. Lake Deseda also offers opportunity for bathing with its 12 km-long lakeshore with bicycle routes, forested areas and an arboretum. Sports fans of rowing and angling also love the lake besides swimmers and bathers. Anglers can watch the fauna of the lake from boats as well as from

8 the lake shore. The boili fishing method becoming more and more popular, they are now able to hook large fish as well. Another popular place for fishing is Lake Töröcskei, which was hosting a record size catfish in the valleys among the Zselic forests until 2010. Tourists can also refresh Lake Hódos themselves at several freshwater springs in the forests surrounding the city. The best known among them is the spring of „Four brothers” in Gyertyános-valley, with a third fishing lake, Lake Hódos nearby. Among the numerous forest parks of the Zselic, the Tókaj Forest Park also contains fishing water. This area is a popular place for excursions. Wondering a bit further away from the city, in the woods of Zselic, further small lakes, ponds, fishing waters can be discovered, just like the ones near Kardosfa and Patca.

Flower Spa and Waterpark

The pride of our city, the Flower Bath, opened in the summer of 2006 which provides the largest artiﬁcial water surface in the Transdanubia Region. In summer, it provides 17 types altogether 46

Lake Deseda The purpose of the association is to protect and develop the natural habitat and constructed environment of Lake Deseda, and Kaposvár-Toponár-Deseda district and recreational area. The lake can be circumcycled while the arboretum is easily accessible via walking, providing a beloved route for excursions and walks for youngs and families alike. The special stock of fish in the lake, the numerous national and international fishing contests are attracting many visitors each year. 10 Kecelhegy Equestrian Association, Meistro Equestrian Farm

Fishing lake, paintball, beach- volleyball, meeting room, tent for 50 people and horse-riding facilities can be found here. The 10 hectare area at the edge of the city, by River Kapos is an excellent venue for school excursions and Saddling in progress team building trainings. It is also the venue for the qualifying race as a preparation to the National Gallop Race. Each spring and fall, workshops and amateur equestrian competitions are hosted here. The Museum of Horse-riding shows the original horse-drawn equipments and tools. Kindergarten and school groups can attend 2-3 hour activities all year-round. Visitors can meet traditional domesticated animals. The horseback riding route called: „In the traces of outlaw-riders” are expecting visitors interested in nature with 10 calm, well balanced horses. The purpose of the Association is to boost youth and countryside tourism, to protect Hungarian culture and to assist civil initiatives. Since June 2012, a Category „B” children and youth camp is operated in the vicinity of Ecseny village, with quality accomodation, related programs and the possibility of catering. Parrag Guesthouse

The Guesthouse went through a full refurbishment and renovation, both inside and outsie during the second half of 2010. As of November 2010, guests are welcome again. There are 3 separate apartments in the house, all of them with an en-suite bathroom, Street of Mosdós oﬀering altogether accommodation for 8 persons (extra beds are available upon request). Each room is equipped with a broadband Wi-Fi and cable TV (with 26 channels). The apartments have a common dining area with a fully equipped kitchen. A 3-person infra-sauna is also at guests` disposal in the guesthouse. Parking facility, outdoor grill and barbecue are also available. The farm is located in a 2-hectare park, near Bárdudvarnok. It is an ideal place for families with kids to relax. Among the numerous indoor and outdoor facilities we must highlight the giant indoor freefall and family slides, as well as the multi-storey kids` playhouse and adults` labyrinth; these slides are the largest constructions of such across Central Europe.

18 The medieval castle and the wooden trebuchet are providing temptation to travel through time. Anyone can use our rope- ways and zip wires, which consist of 5 different tracks, depending on state of fitness or courage. On our racetrack, visitors from 3-103 years of age can pedal our go-karts. We introduce various domestic and traditionally kept animals in their natural environments, along with the traditional tools used for farming and animal keeping. We offer our visitors a unique selection of 50 different program Petting the animals opportunities in handicrafts, environmental knowledge, tradition- preserving or agricultural areas. It`s an everyday possibility to join in for cow-milking, animal handling, pebble stone decorating activities or using the playhouse, the jumpy strawbarn, the old machinery park or the pedal go-karts. On weekends, bread kneading and baking, traditional crafts and programs connects our guests to heritage preservation. Accommodation is available for 120 guests in 2 tourist houses, 80 tents in our campsite, and in addition to the above, from spring to fall we offer 3 guesthouses with 20 beds altogether. The Krishna-Valley is a peaceful island on the stormy see of buzzing everyday life. It is only 30 km-s from Balaton, towards Kaposvár. The 260- hectare area – which serves as a cultural centre as well as an organic farm – oﬀers wonderful sights and new experiences for visitors. In the Village party in Krishna Valley valley, there are approximately 150 monks living with Krishna-faith, who aim to be self-sustainable and are dealing with organic farming, engaging in Vedic –based on the ancient holy book of India – lifestyle, as well as several other useful and interesting activities. 26 �� „For Juniors and Seniors” – Ladybug – Active Recreation Centre, Patca Ladybug Farm guarantees a full day family entertainment in Patca, 11km-s from Kaposvár. In the Adventure Park visitors can enjoy the zip wires, the giant indoor freefall slides and multi- storey playhouse, dozens of outdoor and indoor games, they get close to traditional domesticated animals, can learn about traditional farming and crafts as well. Each weekend, traditional, and nature exploring programs as well as crafts workshops are offered. These are complemented with regular daily programs, such as: milk the cow at 7 am and 5/6 pm • animal handling at 7-9 am and 4-6 pm where visitors can have a hands-on experience • drawing, painting, colouring, pebble stone colouring activities • indoor- and outdoor games and facilities (jumpy straw barn, playhouse, old machinery park, challenge tracks) • discovering the medieval wooden castle. June 21-23, 2013 7th Medieval Games and Family Festival (Patca, Ladybug Farm) The everyday life of a medieval castle come to life and medieval traditions are reviving on this event. Authentic crafts and food, learn about heraldic, weapon and armour on display and you can try them on, you can learn to fence and dance. If you do not behave well, you can easily find yourself put in stocks. Orders of knights arrive from all over Hungary and abroad not only to show their knowledge but also to have battles with each other. The peak of the day is the siege of the fortress which is followed by the concert of the famous Csík Band. The day is closed with a fireball shooting of the big trebuchet and performance of fire and play. On Sunday, you dress in medieval clothes, take part in interactive medieval games. Court jesters, stilted men, merchants entertain the visitors. The concert of Kolompos Band is one of the main event of the day.
