We established our Tourist Association in 2009 with the objective of developing our products and services to consciously preserve the cultural values of Kaposvár and protect the natural heritage of Zselic. Also, we established our operations on the most attractive characters, the nature, the connected active recreational offerings as well as the cultural values of our destinations. The city is built on seven hills between River Kapos and the Zselic hills and its history goes back to the start up of Hungary. Kaposvár is a human city, easy to love and to live in. A place that inhabitants enjoy and this feeling is taken over by the tourists. The great atmosphere is provided by the nice and tidy environment, the flowers, the fountains, and many statues. Those visiting Kaposvár between spring and fall find the city in full bloom and also Kaposvár, Kossuth Square can always join a festival or great event. The city trustworthily preserves the memory of its famous painter, József Rippl-Rónai in culture and in its museums. The pedestrian district of the city won the prestigious prize of „Most attractive Main Street in Hungary ” in 2010. Come and see our city of art nouveau style! Its main treasure is the ethnographic collection, awarded with Europa Nostra Award in 1982, the only place in Hungary where such collection is created in a real, living village. The purpose of the collection is to preserve and display memories of folk architecture in timber framed style, which remained in Somogy until today, Szenna, Calvinist church to future generations. The village is located in a valley bordered by the forests of Zselic, where several families created bed&breakfast facilities for visitors. It is located 12 km-s to southwest from Kaposvár bordering the Zselic District Protected Area. Although the number of residents is only 60, the village has a rich library, reading room, cable TV and broadband Patca from the air internet connnection. In 2010, the village has won the Village Renewal Award of the Ministry of Rural Development. Patca gives home to Katica Tanya (Ladybug Farm) – Active Recreation and Leisure Centre. Also, the South-Transdaniubian Blue Hike route crosses the village. There are multiple streams at the bottom of the forests and slopes surrounding the village and their cooling water is collected by Creek Csörge. This creek feeds the small Lake Katica in the outskirts of Patca. Katica Tanya welcomes its visitors with a unique portfolio of leisure activities – dozens of indoor and outdoor play areas, show farm, medieval fortress, the intimate Lake Katica and accommodations with 140 beds. The village is thought to be settled already since late 9th century, although the first official certificate is dated from 1284. The village inaugurated its own flag and heraldic design. Everyday life of villagers is defined by the vicinity of Kaposvár. It’s an Mayor’s office ideal place to live for people with preference for tranquillity, or village lifestyle. With easy access to the services provided by the city, they still enjoy here the peaceful atmosphere and the safety provided by the local village community. It’s operated in the centre of the city in a historic building in classicistic style. The basis for the exhibitions is the classification of specialities engaged in the research and collection work (natural science, archaeological, mo- dern historical, ethnographical, history of art). Memorial House of Rippl-Rónai The Villa Roma, sight of Kaposvár is famous across Europe. It used to be József Rippl-Rónai`s home. Each corner of the Museum as well as the connecting atelier is preserving the heritage and spirituality of the big artist. Local inhabitants say it was built on seven hills as was Rome. The town lies on the two banks of the river Kapos at the meeting of External Somogy and Zselic. The castle of Kapos emerges in documents in the 14t h century and after the Turkish reign it was blown up on the order of the War Council in Vienna. Real proliferation started from 1830 (the Reform era) and con- tinued after the Compromise of 1867. Economic development at the end of the 19th century created the basis of the modern industry. Touristic attraction of the city is given by its cultural val- ues: the museum of Rippl-Rónai, the theatre Gergely Csiky, The Rippl -Rónai mansion []. The genuine ornament of the town is the western side of the Walking street (the pedestrian area) with Kossuth square at its end. The newest sport establishments of Kaposvár are the Icehall and the Flower Bath. You leave Kaposvár on the road No. 61 towards Dom- bóvár. Having arrived in Baté (15 kms) you turn left to Igal and follow this direction to Kisgyalán (23 kms). At the cemetery, the road turns to right to Gölle. In the centre of Gölle (27 kms) [] turn right to Árpád street where the memorial house is to be found on the left side about 100 metres from the church.

    sustainability Article The Renewable Energy Production Capability of Settlements to Meet Local Electricity and Transport Energy Demands Balázs Kulcsár *, Tamás Mankovits and Piroska Gyöngyi Ailer Faculty of Engineering, University of Debrecen, H-4028 Debrecen, Hungary; [email protected] (T.M.); [email protected] (P.G.A.) * Correspondence: [email protected] Abstract: In addition to the examination of electric power from local renewables, this study has sought the answer to the question of what proportion of vehicles are fueled by environmentally friendly energy saving technologies in the vehicle fleets of Hungarian settlements. Further, the study attempts to shed light on the self-sufficiency of Hungarian settlements with respect to the electricity and transport segments. In our assessments, the performance of small-scale household power plants (SSHPPs) utilizing local renewable energy sources, and small-scale power plants with installed capacities under 0.5 MW, was taken into account, as were the proportions of vehicles operating with partly or completely clean energy sources in the vehicle fleets of the individual settlements. Finally, the composition of the vehicle fleet has been examined in the light of the quantities of renewable electricity generated in the individual settlements, in order to consider whether these settlements are capable of covering the energy needs of their vehicle stocks from local sources. In the light of the results, the changes generated by the incentives and investments introduced over the past ten years can be established and subsequently, the energy policy needs in the future can be assessed. Our study has incorporated energy geography and settlement geography aspects.

A Zselici Tájvédelmi Körzet Somogy és Baranya megyékben a Dunántúli-dombság nagy- tájon belül a Zselici kistáj északnyugati részén található. A tájvédelmi körzet Kaposvártól délre a Zselicség központi részeit öleli fel. A belső somogyi táj legmagasabb dombvonulatai alkotják a Zselicség varázslatos vidékét. Neve honfoglalás-kori szláv lakosságára utal, tőlük ered a Zselic, zselica elnevezés is mely az itt őshonos tölgyre utal. A Zselicben nagyjából 67 féle védett növény található meg, ebből 52 a Tájvédelmi körzetben. Egyedülállónak számít hazánkban az ezüsthársas bük- kös erdőtársulás, ami itt fellelhető, mivel a magasabb, hegyvidéki levegőt kedvelő bükk a síksági-dombvidéki ezüsthárssal közösen alkot erdőt. Legszebb ilyen erdő a Ropolyi-erdő, amely Kardosfa mellett terül el.
