(Acari: Erythraeidae) is described from northern Iran and Montenegro. It is the second known species of the genus and was found in soil samples. Also, Hirstiosoma latreillei (Grandjean, 1947) and Fessonia papillosa (Hermann, 1804) (Acari: Smarididae) are reported for the first time from Iran. Key words: Parasitengona, Erythraeoidea, Balaustiinae, Moldoustium, Hirstiosoma latreillei, Fessonia papillosa Introduction The family Erythraeidae of the superfamily Erythraeoidea consists of seven subfamilies (Mąkol & Wohltmann 2012, 2013). Among them, the Balaustiinae is unusual in having free-living larvae, whereas other erythraeids have larvae that are arthropod ectoparasites. It comprises 13 genera, including the monotypic Moldoustium Haitlinger (Haitlinger 2008, Mąkol & Wohltmann 2012).

Since Bonnet’s time there has been considerable progress in our understanding of the fossil record of spiders – and other arachnids – and numerous new taxa have been described. For an overview see Dunlop & Penney (2012). Spiders remain the single largest fossil group, but our aim here is to offer a summary list of all fossil Chelicerata in their current systematic position; as a first step towards the eventual goal of combining fossil and Recent data within a single arachnological resource. To integrate our data as smoothly as possible with standards used for living spiders, our list for Araneae follows the names and sequence of families adopted in the previous Platnick Catalog.

W it t e Abstract: In the present paper the structure of the gnathosoma and of the male and female genital systems of smaridid mites is investigated. The glands of gnathosoma and prosoma are described, and the muscles which enable the wide longitudinal movability of gnatho­ soma and styliform chelicerae, are analysed. The role of the intemalisation of the dorsal surface of the infracapitulum for guiding the chelicerae and protecting the salivary secre­ tion pathway is discussed. The female genital system is described mainly in regard to the distal accessory organs. The genital papillae are transformed to receptacula semines, in which sperm cells become capacitated. Lipid producing glands obviously serve to protect the internal milieu against extemal effects. The structure of the male genital system is re- constructed. A focus is laid on the ejaculatory complex, which shows a complex pattem of accessory organs, sclerites and muscles.

For blurred pages, a good image of the page can be found in the adjacent frame. If copyrighted materials were deleted, a target note will appear listing the pages in the adjacent' frame. 3. When a map, drawing or chart, etc., is part of the material being photographed, a definite method of “sectioning” the material has been followed. It is customary to begin film ing at the upper left hand corner o f a large sheet and to continue from left to right in equal sections with small overlaps. I f necessary, sectioning is continued again-beginning below the first row and continuing on until complete.
