feature film NO HEART STAYS BROKEN LONG AT THE WHITE HORSE INN A “Mamma Mia!”-like confection based on the popular (Broadway!) 1930 musical comedy by Ralph Benatzky and Robert Stolz. (A feel-good musical about an unflappable big-city heart that learns to scale Alps of emotion.) An adrenaline rush topped off by a jolt of caffeine! NO HEART STAYS BROKEN LONG AT THE WHITE HORSE INN It’s totally crazy. Maddeningly cheerful. And absolutely one of a kind: the White Horse Inn in the Austrian Alps. Ottilie, whose big-city heart is shriveling up after her boyfriend calls it quits via text message, half-heartedly agrees to ac- company her dad to the White Horse Inn. A nucleus of countless happy romances, the Inn is populated by masses of smiling, dancing, singing waiters and chambermaids, and equally gung-ho guests. The only fly in the ointment is Ottilie, who wants to sulk and fears that her broken heart might spontaneously heal through all this excessive cheerfulness. The icing on the cake is Otto, an impossibly handsome, polite, sweet, attentive and, yes, cheerful young man who pro- poses to Ottilie practically within minutes after meeting her. Headwaiter Leopold is the only one who understands her resistance to song and dance, for he’s been secretly in love with Josepha, the inn’s owner, for a long, long time, and no song of his has yet to melt her icy heart. Little by little, Ottilie discovers her previously unknown love for music – and for Otto. They and Leopold must now prevent Josepha from selling the inn to the Elvis-like crooner Sigi, who wants to tear it down.
