Senior Softball USA Three Coins in a Fountain Venice, Florence, Pisa, Assisi & Rome 12 days fully escorted, October 8 – 19, 2015 (Land Package only) Day # 1 (D) Thursday Oct 8 Arrival in Venice, Marco Polo International Airport/Main Train station. Clear immigration and customs After Clearing immigration and customs, your International Sports Holidays Representative will meet you and lead you to the motorcoach and on to the hotel 4 nights Free time to relax and adjust to the time difference. (+6 hours EST) Welcome Dinner to be taken in the hotel or at a nearby local restaurant. Hotel in Venice Mestre TBA Day # 2 (Venice –Padua – Venice Sightseeing) (B) Friday Oct 9 Breakfast in the hotel Teams will transfer by private bus to the fields in the Padua area. Morning Softball Practice After practice team will return to the hotel for a quick change. Afternoon transfer by local transport to Piazzale Roma where we change and transfer to a Vaparetto (Water bus) which will take us to St Mark’s Square. A walking tour of Venice with our local step-on guide. This afternoon’s tour will show us the highlights of Venice, including St. Mark’s Square, Rialto Bridge, Bridge of Sighs, The Doge’s Palace, Campanile, and St. Mark’s Cathedral. Free time in Venice center for personal sightseeing and dinner. Dinner on your own and perhaps take an optional Gondola cruise along the Grand Canal. Transfer back to our hotel by public transport. Day # 3 (Venice Mestre – Padua Games– Venice Mestre) (B) Saturday Oct 10 Breakfast in the hotel. Transfer to game field in the Padua area. All day Tournament. Return to hotel by late afternoon / early evening. Evening free at leisure Day # 4 (Venice Mestre – Padua Games– Venice Mestre) (B) Sunday Oct 11 Breakfast in the hotel. Transfer to game field in the Padua area. All day Tournament. Return to hotel by late afternoon / early evening. Evening free at leisure Day # 5 (Venice Mestre - Florence) (B, D) Monday Oct 12 Breakfast in the hotel. Departing Venice this morning we travel south to Florence in the Tuscany Region to arrive in the renaissance city by lunch time. Free time for an independent lunch. An afternoon city tour of Florence with our local step on guide will introduce us to some of the more famous sights that Florence is known for. Brunelleschi’s Cathedral and Dome, Giotti’s Campanile (Bell Tower) the 1500 year old Baptistery, Piazza della Signoria and the Ponte Vecchio. Our tour will finish at the Sante Croce Basilica where we will see the tombs of many famous Italians, including Michelangelo, Rossini, Galileo and Machiavelli. After the tour we check into our hotel in central Florence for the next 3 nights Dinner to be taken in a local restaurant or hotel. Hotel in Florence TBA Day # 6 (Florence – Games – Pisa - Florence) (B) Tuesday Oct 13 Breakfast in the hotel. Teams will transfer by private bus to the fields in the Florence area. Morning Softball Practice After practice team will return to the hotel for a quick change. This afternoon we take an excursion to Pisa. On arrival in Pisa you will be transferred to the Piazza Dei Miracoli, where you will wonder at the world’s most famous building, “The Leaning Tower of Pisa”. A short walking tour will show you the panoramic view of the Piazza del Miracoli, which contains not only the Leaning Tower but also the Cathedral built in 1174, and the Baptistry. Some free time will be given before we board our coach and transfer back to your hotel in Florence. Evening free at leisure Day # 7 Wednesday Oct 14 (Florence – Games – Florence) (B) Breakfast in the hotel Transfer to game field in the Florence area. All day Tournament. Return to hotel by late afternoon / early evening. Evening free at leisure Day # 8 (Florence – Assisi - Rome) (B, D) Thursday Oct 15 Breakfast in the hotel After breakfast we will depart Florence and drive through the Apennine range of mountains to the little town of Assisi. With a population of only 25,000 and situated on the slopes of Mount Subasio. This little community is better known as home to St. Francis. Here we will visit the impressive Basilica of St. Francis named after the Saint and consecrated by Pope Innocent IV in 1253. After the tour, free time will be given for an independent lunch and personal sightseeing before we depart for Rome On arrival, late afternoon in Rome, we check into our hotel for the next 4 nights Dinner to be taken in the hotel or a nearby local restaurant. Hotel in Central Rome Day # 9 (Rome Sightseeing) (B) Friday Oct 16 Breakfast in the hotel. A morning city tour of ancient Rome. A morning visit to the Vatican and Sistine Chapel with our local-step on guide is planned. On conclusion of the visit we have free time to Shop at the Vatican store and have an independent lunch before starting our afternoon tour of ancient Rome, including the sights of Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Coliseum, Caracalla Baths, Piazza Emmanuelle, Forum and many more. Tour will finish at your hotel. Remainder of the day free at leisure. Dinner on your own. Day # 10 (Rome – Games- Rome) (B) Saturday Oct 17 Breakfast in the hotel. Transfer to game field in the Rome area. All day Tournament. Return to hotel by late afternoon / early evening. Evening free at leisure Day # 11 (Rome) (B, D) Sunday Oct 18 Breakfast in the hotel. Full free day in Rome Transfer to the local restaurant where we enjoy our farewell dinner Day # 12 (Rome) (B) Monday Oct 19 Breakfast in the hotel. After breakfast we will make our way via motorcoach to Rome’s International Airport for check in to your respective flights back to the USA. Walking Please understand that in order to see European cities, a fair amount of walking is required. Please take comfortable walking shoes.
