Cool dogs Since dogs can't think as their owners do, take extra precautions in extreme heat. A thermometer that reads 78 degrees doesn't necessarily mean it’s an ideal time to take Spot on a long walk or run. The heat index aS ects the weather in summer much the same as the wind chill factor works in winter. Humidity can cause the day to be much ho er than what the thermometer reads. Many dogs will wrinkle their noses and instinctively resist when it’s too hot to handle the outdoors. Always be mindful that it’s harder for dogs to cool down than it is for humans.
