This weekend’s DE event at NHMS was great fun. Charity Laps and our annual rides for NH Make-A-Wish kids were a huge success. The weather was perfect and lots of kids showed up. Thanks to Pat and the whole DE staff for all the work they do to put together a safe event for all involved. Thanks to Ivy for all her efforts in support of Make-A-Wish and our charity program. Looking at the DE calendar NCR is very excited and looking forward to our first event at Club Motorsports in Tamworth, NH. Thanks to Pat Maloney NCR is the first car club to get a track day at Tamworth. That date is Wednesday September 6th, 2017. If you haven’t signed up, register ASAP. See you trackside. Porsche at Le Mans Meet the Heroes of Le Mans • Porsche and the 24 Hours of Le Mans 1 Porsche and the 24 Hours of Le Mans Porsche in the starting line-up for 63 years The 24 Hours of Le Mans is the most famous endurance race in the world. The post-war story of the 24 Heures du Mans begins in the year 1949. And already in 1951 – the pro - duction of the first sports cars in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen commenced in March the previous year – a small delegation from Porsche KG tackles the high-speed circuit 200 kilometres west of Paris in the Sarthe department. Class victory right at the outset for the 356 SL Aluminium Coupé marks the beginning of one of the most illustrious legends in motor racing: Porsche and Le Mans. Race cars from Porsche have contested Le Mans every year since 1951. The reward for this incredible stamina (Porsche is the only marque to have competed for 63 years without a break) is a raft of records, including 16 overall wins and 102 class victories to 2013. The sporting competition and success at the top echelon of racing in one of the world’s most famous arenas is as much a part of Porsche as the number combination 911. After a number of class wins in the early fifties with the 550, the first time on the podium in the overall classification came in 1958 with the 718 RSK clinching third place.

ACES WILD ACES WILD The Story of the British Grand Prix THE STORY OF THE Peter Miller Motor racing is one of the most 10. 3. BRITISH GRAND PRIX exacting and dangerous sports in the world today. And Grand Prix racing for Formula 1 single-seater cars is the RIX GREATS toughest of them all. The ultimate ambition of every racing driver since 1950, when the com petition was first introduced, has been to be crowned as 'World Cham pion'. In this, his fourth book, author Peter Miller looks into the back ground of just one of the annual qualifying rounds-the British Grand Prix-which go to make up the elusive title. Although by no means the oldest motor race on the English sporting calendar, the British Grand Prix has become recognised as an epic and invariably dramatic event, since its inception at Silverstone, Northants, on October 2nd, 1948. Since gaining World Championship status in May, 1950 — it was in fact the very first event in the Drivers' Championships of the W orld-this race has captured the interest not only of racing enthusiasts, LOONS but also of the man in the street. It has been said that the supreme test of the courage, skill and virtuosity of a Grand Prix driver is to w in the Monaco Grand Prix through the narrow streets of Monte Carlo and the German Grand Prix at the notorious Nürburgring. Both of these gruelling circuits cer tainly stretch a driver's reflexes to the limit and the winner of these classic events is assured of his rightful place in racing history.

  • 1962 Lotus 24 BRM Chassis No. 946
! 1962 Lotus 24 BRM Chassis No. 946 • Immaculately presented following an exquisite restoration by marque expert Peter Denty Racing. Limited mileage has been accumulated since, with notable outings in the Glover Trophy at the last three editions of the Goodwood Revival. • Following a convincing Pole position at Brands Hatch this year with the HGPCA, this 1,500cc BRM V8 powered Lotus 24 led away from the start in the recent Glover Trophy race and featured strongly before finishing 3rd against stiff competition. • With 2015 FIA HTPs, this Lotus 24 will make an excellent entry to one of the most emotive grids in historic motorsport, racing on some of the best circuits across Europe. By 1962, Lotus had made a strong name for themselves in the world of Formula 1, and were becoming a force to be reckoned with. This came about with Colin Chapman’s Lotus 18 of 1960, which marked a change in formula car design. The low and sleek 18 was the first Lotus to feature a mid mounted engine instead of the traditional front mounted layout as in the Lotus 16 which went before, and subsequently gains were found in chassis design, weight and stiffness. Initially the new Lotus 18 ran with a 2,497cc Coventry Climax FPF four cylinder engine and the so called ‘Lotus Queerbox’ magnesium cased sequential transaxle which further contributed to the weight advantage that the Lotus 18 held. Success was yielded in its debut season with two World Championship victories for Rob Walker Racing and Stirling Moss. T. + 44 (0)1285 831 488 E.

Page 2 Contents Foreword 3 Netherlands 5 Belgium 44 Germany 78 Austria 133 Luxembourg & Switzerland 148 Copyright © Rob Semmeling 2009-2016 / all rights reserved www.wegcircuits.nl Rennen! Races! Vitesse! Page 3 Foreword Motorsport essentially consists of three ingredients. First, you need a motor vehicle - which can be anything from a Formula 1 car to a lawn mower, or from a MotoGP motorcycle to a pocket bike. Second, you need a driver or rider to operate the vehicle, and finally, a place to go racing - a circuit. To most people this last ingredient is probably the least interesting. The number of books about famous racing drivers and cars, or great riders and their motorcycles, is far larger than the number of books about racing circuits. However, to me circuits are the most interesting aspect of motorsport, for two main reasons. First is their great diversity: in terms of shape, layout, length, difficulty, fame and many other factors, every circuit is different, and each has its own story to tell. Second, it is fascinating to see just how many circuits there are. Once you start looking, you can find them just about any- where. Finding lost circuits or discovering long-forgotten tracks is one of the most fun aspects of researching racing circuits. When looking for information about racing circuits online, I often found it frustrating that the available sources were not complete, and that they often lacked detail and accuracy. This is one of the reasons why I started my website www.wegcircuits.nl and why I made Rennen! Races! Vitesse! - a downloadable pdf-file that lists racing circuits of past and present in four European countries: the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Austria.

Ironically, because we have to stage the event behind closed doors, we are able to create a spectacle that we would normally never dream of doing. As a live and interactive TV show, SpeedWeek will be brought to you in a way that has never been seen before in motorsport broadcasting. The live stream, and the ITV coverage, will be free to air and will take you right into the heart of the event with all the race action, interviews with the drivers and coverage of the new rally stages, the Shootout for the fastest lap of the circuit, and a sensational celebration of 70 years of Formula 1. SpeedWeek combines many of the best elements of the Members’ Meeting, the Festival of Speed and the Revival, plus some new and exciting content that will see the cars using parts of the circuit that are way beyond the track limits. The Shootout for fastest lap will see modern machinery on the circuit, something we’ve never been able to do before.
