LEVEL 2 TEACHING AND LEARNING ASSISTANT I am currently a Teaching Assistant at Newbridge Junior School and began my apprenticeship in September 2018 after studying Sport at Portsmouth College. I knew that the College was a great environment to be in and that staff are really supportive of your future prospects. Apprenticeships had been introduced to me while I was studying as a possible pathway as I wasn’t keen on going to university. The specialised apprenticeship team helped me to find the right study programme for me and have helped me a lot during my apprenticeship so far. I’ve had a really positive experience as an apprentice. I’ve met new ASHLEY friends, learnt a range of skills and been well informed about training ARNELL dates and deadlines well in advance so that I can manage my workload. I hope that after I have completed my apprenticeship, I can progress in a teaching assistant position in the local area with the aim of becoming www.portsmouth-college.ac.uk a professional teacher in the future. to full-timeemployment. and behaviours required to fulfila role in your chosen field, potentially leading Apprenticeships provide you withtheopportunity to develop theknowledge, skills In addition: *Correct asof April2019

This is a great opportunity for me to gain more skills and knowledge in the cosmetics industry. Portsmouth College was my first choice due to good feedback from my friends who attended the college previously and enjoyed their experience. It is also very easy to access from my work in Petersfield or from my home on Hayling Island. PASKEVICIUTE LAURA I really enjoy the apprenticeship programme. My tutor and all the team have been very supportive throughout my studies and with my personal development. I have applied my skills at my work place and feel very confident that I am making good progress at the company.

My apprenticeship has also helped me to build a stronger professional network outside of work and meet people from different businesses. As I am a full-time working mother, some days it might be a struggle for me to find the time to complete my assignments, however the apprenticeship programme gives me more flexibility to study at a suitable time for me. Once I complete my apprenticeship I would like to continue with self-development and am considering further education. www.portsmouth-college.ac.uk 41 Our Pathways Entry Requirements The College currently offers Levels 2, 3, 4 and 5 apprenticeship Employers might ask for two or more GCSE grades (9-4) or equivalent, and relevant work frameworks and standards in: THE APPRENTICESHIP experience in the sector for Levels 2 and 3 .
