“Castiglione Falletto” Vini Pregiati delle Langhe Barolo D.O.C.G. “Castiglione Falletto” DENOMIMAZIONE DI ORIGINE CONTROLLATA E GARANTITA Fruity bouquet with reminiscences of red rose, raspberries, cinnamon and vanilla. It presents a strong structure that allows aging for a long period of time. Full, fascinating and elegant taste, intense with a good body. Castiglione Falletto is a more traditional Barolo as it ages in large oak barrels. Ideal serving temperature is 20°C. Also very good at 16°-17°C. Do not expose to abrupt changes of temperature Its fragrance and scents are highlighted if put into a crystal decanter and then poured into crystal stemware with an ample bowl. Swirl it around the glass to finally taste and appreciate it. Offering a rare balance of grace and strength, our noble Barolo is a wine for special occasions, memorable celebrations and elegant meals. It is a perfect match for savory stuffed pasta, stewed and braised meats, game and pungent, fully ripe cheeses. Excellent with delicate fruits like strawberries. COLOR: Intense garnet red GRAPE: 100% Nebbiolo EXPOSURE: South and South-West YIELD PER HL/HA: Max 80 qt /hectare HARVEST: Manual, at the beginning of October CELLAR TEMPERATURE: 14°–18°C constant VINIFICATION: The grapes are delicately pressed and the stalks are removed. The limpid must ferments in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature of 26°-28°C for 20-25 days. After racking, the new wine is put into 25 and 30 hl Slavonian oak casks for 20-24 months. Next, the wine is bottled and left to age for at least 12 months, to refine and develop its carachter. ALCOHOL: 14.5% Azienda Vitivinicola Filippino Domenico, Fraz. • Barolo Rocche Di Castiglione Riserva DOCG Barolo, Italy
MONCHIERO Barolo Rocche di Castiglione Riserva DOCG Barolo, Italy GRAPE VARIETY 100% Nebbiolo VINIFICATION Located in the village of Castiglione Falletto, Rocche is one of Barolo’s most famous vineyards. This exceptional cru is small and extremely steep with southeastern exposure. The field is composed of compact clay with some sand. When the grapes reach their ideal ripeness, they are hand harvested with great care. Maceration lasts 20 days at approximately 82° to 84°F in stainless steel, followed by 20 days of fermentation in stainless steel with pump-over. Aged for three years in Slavonian oak casks followed by two years in bottle. ESTATE The Monchiero family (pronounced “Mon-khee-eh-ro“) owns 25 acres of vineyard in Piedmont spread throughout the communes of Barolo and Alba. For generations the family farmed and grew grapes on the Montanello estate, outside the small town of Castiglione Falletto. In the 1950s, the brothers Remo and Maggiorino Monchiero started producing wine under their own family name. The small winery located in Castiglione Falletto was established in the 13th century and purchased by the Monchiero brothers in 1982. Vittorio Monchiero, son of Maggiorino, was trained at the renowned oenological institute in Alba and remains committed to the region’s traditional practices. In 2017 his eldest son, Luca, joined the family winery. His youngest son, Stefano, is studying viticulture and will soon do the same. TASTING NOTE A complex full-bodied wine, very aromatic; cocoa, cherry cola, licorice and spice. In the mouth it is lovely and rich with dark fruits and anise. Elegant with strong, yet balanced tannins – a very correct and profound Barolo.
