The Sicilian Ma ia in the 1960s/70s
Leonardo Sciascia author ( of Il giorno della civetta, 1962), in his essay 'La ma ia' (1957): Il fatto è che in Sicilia la ma ia è una forza: indubbiamente in conati di sopravvivenza, a meno che non riesca a portare a completamento e a perfezione ione la trasformaz che pare sia in atto. The fact is that the Ma ia in Sicily is still powerful a force: it’s certainly struggling to survive unless it manages to accomplish its current transformation. If from the latifundia it manages to migrate and consolidate inside the , cities if it manages to attach itself to the regional , bureaucracies if it manages to in iltrate society.
