RU06 £300 £30 per month for 10 months 1912 Harvest Festival Aviation Exhibition cover originally intended to be flown on 6th August by George Schmitt but his plane was damaged on take-off and subsequently aviator Earle Sandt carried this airmail two days later on 8th August from the festival to the local Post Office. The cover features a superb Aviation Station, Fort Recovery postmark and a great illustration of the festival on the reverse.

DID YOU KNOW? The first official airmail between New Zealand and Australia took place on 17 February, 1934. The Avro 10, Faith in Australia, left Muriwai Beach, Auckland and arrived in Sydney 14 hours 10 minutes later. Charles Ulm was the pilot, Scotty Allan the navigator/co-pilot and R.T. Boulton the engineer. The first official airmail from Australia to New Zealand left Sydney on the evening of 11 April 1934 and arrived at New Plymouth in New Zealand at noon the next day. The plane was again the Faith in Australia and the crew were Charles Ulm (pilot), G.U. (Scotty) Allan (co-pilot and navigator) and R.T. Boulton (engineer).

Each cover has been authenticated by the competitions manager and both are issue number 37. The first cover was flown on the 18th and 19th May 1970 and is signed by pilot Squadron Leader Arkwell-Hardwick and the navigator Squadron Leader Read. This flight was the first non-stop Phantom flight from London to Singapore and took 14 hours and 14 minutes. The second was flown on the 19th and 20th May 1970 and has been signed by pilot Squadron Leader Nevill and navigator Straughan. This fight set the London - Singapore world record in a time of 14 hours and 6 minutes.
